PAGE CHARGES AND REPRINTS
Papers selected for publication in CSME Transactions
are subject to a voluntary page charge of C$35 per
journal page. The total amount will be invoiced either
directly to the author, or to the author's company,
institution, or agency. When the paper has been published
and the voluntary page charges have been paid, all
authors will receive a complimentary copy of the journal
in which their article appears; in addition, for papers
with multiple authors, the lead author will receive 20
reprints of the article and each additional author will
receive 10 reprints. Publication is not dependent upon
payment of the voluntary page charge; however, the
Editor reserves the right to limit the number of unpaid
publications on an annual basis. Furthermore, authors
must state in writing, upon submission of an article, their
intention to pay, or otherwise.
Tout manuscrit qui nous parviendra est sujet aux frais
volontaires de C35$ par page. Ce montant sera facturé à
l’auteur ou à l’établissement ou à un contrat appuyant les
frais engendrés par ces recherches. Sur publication du
manuscrit et paiement des frais, les auteurs recevront un
exemplaire gratuit de la revue et 20 réimpressions. Lorsqu’il
y aura plus d’un auteur, l’auteur principal recevra 20
réimpressions, tandis que les autres en recevront 10 chacun.
L’acquittement des frais par page n’est pas une condition de
publication. Toutefois, le rédacteur en chef se réserve le droit
de limiter le nombre d’articles acceptés et non rémunérés sur

INSTRUCTIONS TO AUTHORS
Final manuscript
Upon acceptance of the paper, the manuscript will be
returned to the senior author for final preparation.
Special instructions regarding Camera Ready Format
will be provided at this time. Please note that
abstracts must be provided, on separate pages, in both
English and French.
Material Published
1. The material to be published in Transactions of
the CSME will be of a reference or archival nature
in the field of mechanical engineering or related
disciplines. It will include:
a) papers reporting on fundamental research;
b) papers reporting on the development of
design methods that constitute an original
contribution to design;
c) review papers that provide a significant
evaluation of, and perspective on, recent
developments;
d) notes reporting interim work, or work not
warranting a full paper, on original research
or design;
e) letters to the editor will also be considered.

CSME Transactions
CSME Transactions is published quarterly by the
Canadian Society for Mechanical Engineering.
Normally, papers should not exceed 5000 words.
A long paper may be returned to the author for
condensation. Notes should not exceed 1500
words.
Requirements for Manuscripts
1. Manuscripts may be submitted in English or
French.
2. Preferably, an electronic copy of the paper
should be sent to the Editor, CSME
Transactions, at the email address shown below.
Only Word and PDF files will be accepted for
review.
3. In exceptional circumstances the original and
three (3) copies of the manuscript can be sent to
the Editor, CSME Transactions, at the address
shown below.
4. Abstracts of not more than 200 words should be
provided in English or in French.
5. Text should be double spaced on one side only.
Pages should be numbered.
6. Titles should be brief. The name (s) and
affiliation (s) of the author (s) should be given
below the title.
7. Symbols used should conform to those
recommended by the American National
Standards Institute.
8. All mathematical expressions should be
typewritten.
9. References should be numbered in the order in
which they appear in the paper. They should be
listed at the end of the text.
10. Please refer to Page ii for information on
originality, copyright, page charges and reprints.

Manuscrit final
Dès l’acceptation du manuscrit, celui-ci sera remis à
l’auteur principal pour la préparation finale. Les
instructions pour la présentation seront alors fournies.
Nature de travaux publiés
1. Les travaux publiés dans la revue Transactions
de la SCGM auront valeur de référence dans le
domaine du génie mécanique et des disciplines
connexes. Il pourra s’agir de :
a) travaux de recherche fondamentale;
b) travaux faisant état de l’élaboration de
méthodes de design constituant un apport
original à la spécialité
c) travaux de synthèse ayant pour objet de faire
le point sur des progrès récents et sur leurs
perspectives futures;
d) mémoires sur des travaux en cours ou je
justifiant pas une publication plus détaillée
et concernant des travaux de recherche
originaux ou de design;
e) les lettres adressées à la Rédaction seront
également prises en considération.

La présentation des manuscrits

l’adresse indiquée ci-dessous. Seuls les fichiers
Word ou PDF seront acceptés.
3. L’original et trois copies du manuscrit peuvent
être expédiés au directeur du bulletin
« Transactions » de la SCGM, à l’adresse cidessous ; ou,
4. Un résumé d’au plus 200 mots en anglais ou en
français doit accompagner le manuscrit.
5. Le texte doit être dactylographié à double
interligne, sur un seul côté d’une feuille. Le texte
doit être paginé.
6. Le titre doit être bref. Le(s) auteur(s)
s’identifieront en indiquant leur nom et
appartenance sous le titre.
7. Les symboles utilisés doivent être en accord avec
« l’American National Standards Institute »
8. Toutes les expressions mathématiques doivent
être dactylographiées.
9. Les références doivent être numérotées en ordre
d’apparence dans le texte et doivent être
présentées à la fin du texte.
