The National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) is the most prestigious Spanish
speaking education institution worldwide. It comprises 46 campuses located throughout Mexico,
North America, Europe and Asia. UNAM’s Center for Foreign Students (CEPE for its Spanish
acronyms) leads the teaching of Spanish in Mexico as well as in its foreign campuses.
CEPE TAXCO
The Center for Foreign Students, campus Taxco1 (CEPE-Taxco for its Spanish acronyms) aims at
teaching Spanish as a second language in immersion to foreign students from all over the world.
It also encourages general Hispano-American cultural formation with emphasis on Mexican
topics. In addition, CEPE-Taxco offers a number of cultural academic activities to strengthen
Spanish learning.
LOCATION
The city of Taxco2 lies over a mountainous region in the north of the State of Guerrero. Its
establishment as a mining town has resulted in a unique colonial architecture of special urban
and natural beauty.
The CEPE-Taxco is located in the “Ex-Hacienda El Chorrillo” 3 . It is surrounded by ancient
colonial walls and tropical forests with warm humid temperatures throughout the year.
In this campus, UNAM offers a special Spanish program for foreign students from universities
worldwide.

 Housing for six weeks (suite shared with another Canadian student)
 Local transportation Mexico City – Taxco – Mexico City.

 Food expenses (estimated at 23 CAD per day)
 Handbook (needs to be provided by each student)
 Round-trip air ticket
If the option of housing at hotel that CEPE-Taxco suggests is not selected, CEPE-Taxco will
provide a list of persons willing to rent rooms to students. Booking and payment of housing will
be full responsibility of the student.
REGISTRATION AND PAYMENT
Step 1. Registration deadline is January 31, 2014. Please fill-in the attached registration form
and send it to [email protected]. Make sure the option selected is approved by the
program coordinator where you are currently enrolled.
Step 2. The student will be notified by email or telephone prior to the 14th of February 2014 of
the availability of the selected option 4.
Step 3. At the reception of confirmation, payment via check or cash of the option selected must
be made prior to 28th of February 2014. The payment must be made to UNAM, address: 55
Promenade du Portage, Gatineau, Quebec, J8X 2J9; Bank of Nova Scotia account number:
80036-009320-11, with transit number: 80036, in bank number 002. SWIFT: NOSCCATT; ABA/
IBD: 026002532. Please send a copy of your proof of payment before 28th of February 2014 to:

TRAVELLING INFORMATION
In addition, details on the transportation from Mexico City airport to the city of Taxco by bus
provided by UNAM will transport the entire group. The trip takes about 3 hours. At the end of
the stay, the same BUS will transport the entire group to Mexico City airport, the 14th of June
2014.

Programme d´espagnol de formation à l´étranger à
l´ Université nationale autonome du Mexique.
Printemps 2013. Du 29 avril au 7 juin.
L’Université nationale autonome du Mexique est l’université hispanophone la plus reconnue
au monde. Par ses 46 campus, elle maintient une présence importante au Mexique ainsi qu’en
Amérique du Nord, en Europe et en Asie. Le Centre d’enseignement pour étrangers (CEPE) se
spécialise en enseignement de l’espagnol comme langue étrangère depuis 1921 au Mexique, et
depuis 1944 à l’étranger.
CEPE-TAXCO
Le « CEPE-Taxco »5offre un programme de formation en espagnol dirigé aux étudiants du
monde entier dont l’un des objectifs principal est de promouvoir l’appréciation de la culture
hispano-américaine et mexicaine dans un contexte d’immersion.
LE LIEUX
La ville de Taxco 6 est située dans la partie la plus élevée d’une région montagneuse au nord de
l’état de Guerrero, au Mexique. Elle possède une richesse architecturale et naturelle unique qui
s’explique par ces origines au XVI siècle comme l’un des centres miniers les plus importants de
la Nouvelle-Espagne.
Le « CEPE-TAXCO » occupe un bâtiment qui faisait partie d’une vieille Hacienda coloniale
nommée “El Chorrillo”7. Il est entouré d’une végétation tropicale et jouit d’un climat chaud et
humide la plus part de l’année.

Si l´étudiant décide de choisir une option sans logement, le « CEPE Taxco » lui fera parvenir une
liste de personnes à Taxco qui louent des chambres aux étudiants étrangers.
L´étudiant sera responsable de réserver et gérer son propre logement.

l’autorisation du coordinateur du programme de votre université.
2. L’étudiant recevra avant le 20 février 2013 un courriel de l’UNAM-Canada l’informant
de la disponibilité de l’option choisie.8
3. À la réception de la confirmation, l’étudiant doit procéder au paiement en envoyant un
chèque à l’ordre de « UNAM » avant le 28 février 2014 au 55, promenade du Portage,
Gatineau, Québec J8X 2J9. Le payement en argent comptant ou par transfert bancaire

INFORMATION SUR LE VOYAGE
Le transport de l’aéroport international de la ville de Mexico à Taxco sera dans un autobus
fourni par l’UNAM qui transportera tout le groupe. Le trajet est d’environ trois heures. Ce
même autobus fera le voyage de retour de Taxco à l’aéroport de la ville de Mexico à la fin du
programme.
