Raymond Samuel was born on July 31st 1914 in Vesoul.
He was the son of rich Jewish shoppers, they had clothes
shops in Vesoul and in Dijon.
His father was Albert and his mother was Helene Falk.

In Lyon, Raymond found a job as an engineer.
He met a beautiful woman. Her name was Lucie. They got
married in December 1939.They had three children.

In 1941, Raymond and Lucie took part in the «Resistance
Movement». Raymond Samuel changed his name into
Raymond Aubrac because he was a Jew.

Aubrac parce qu'il est Juif.
In 1943, he was captured by the Nazis. The heroic Lucie
freed Raymond.

Raymond Aubrac was one of the great resistants of the 2 nd
World War. He was also one of the last resistants to meet
Jean Moulin.

He got lots of military medals : for example the war cross
and the «Légion d'Honneur».

His wife died in 2007 and Raymond Aubrac died on April
10th 2012 at the «Val-de-Grâce» Military hospital in Paris.
