Message from the President/Mot de la présidente
Thank you to everyone for your help in putting our 2011 and 2012 activities in place.
This newsletter contains preliminary information about our next RC meeting in Argentina
in 2012, our listserv, our website as well as additional news. We are particularly pleased
that so many of our members will be participating in a conference in Uruguay this April.
We look forward to seeing you in Uruguay and/or Argentina.

2012. Ce bulletin comprend des informations préliminaires concernant notre prochaine
rencontre du RC46 en Argentine en 2012, notre listserv, notre site internet, ainsi que

Upcoming meeting/Réunion à venir .
Our next RC46 meeting will be August 1-4, 2012 in Buenos Aires, Argentina as
part of the second ISA Forum. Jean Philippe Bouilloud, one of our vice presidents, has
the principal responsibility for coordinating our RC46 meetings. According to our
decision in Goteborg, Jean Philippe will work with Emma Porio, Tina Uys and Patricia
Guerrero Morales to develop the program for Buenos Aires. In addition, Viviana Arbelo,
from Argentina, also has agreed to be on the program committee and Jan Marie Fritz will
be an ex-officio member of the committee.
Jean Philippe also will discuss with Nicole Aubert to see in what ways RC46
members might be able to participate in the Association internationale des sociologues de
langue française (AISLF) meeting in 2012 in Morocco.
When we met in Göteborg, many suggestions were made about our meetings
including that there should be greater coherence between the presentations and that new
formats be tried (e.g., a case study or theme with three or four presenters giving their
point on view of the same case/theme).
Jean Philippe will let us know as soon as more information is available about the
2012 meeting. If you would like to discuss the meeting in Argentina, please contact Jean

La prochaine réunion du RC46 sera du 1-4 août 2012 à Buenos Aires, Argentine,
lors du deuxième forum de l’AIS. Jean Philipe Bouilloud, l’un de nos vice-présidents,
sera le responsable principal pour coordonner nos réunions. Selon notre décision prise à
Göteborg, Jean Philippe collaborera avec Emma Porio, Tina Uys et Patricia Guerrero
Morales pour développer le programme pour Buenos Aires. De plus, Viviana Arbelo, de
l’Argentine, s’ajoutera au comité ainsi que Jan Marie Fritz, en tant que membre exofficio.
Jean Philippe discutera également avec Nicole Aubert afin d’identifier les façons
dont les membres du RC46 pourront participer à la rencontre de l’association
internationale des sociologues de langue française (AISLF) au Maroc en 2012.
Lorsque nous nous sommes vus à Göteborg, plusieurs propositions ont été faites
concernant nos réunions, notamment la possibilité d’avoir plus de cohérence entre les
présentations et l’intérêt d’expérimenter de nouveaux formats (p.ex. études de cas ou
thème commenté par trois ou quatre conférenciers).
Jean Philippe nous tiendra au courant dès que l’information est disponible

Additional Meetings/D’autres réunions
Ana Maria Araújo (Uruguay) is pleased to announce the VIII International
Congress of Psycho-Sociology and Clinical Sociology. It will be held April 13-15, 2011
in Montevideo, Uruguay. The Congress is open to those who wish to attend, but each
person must pay the registration fee. The host organizations are the Universidad de la
República – Facultad de Psicología and the Grupo de Sociologia Clinica Uruguay. RC46
is proud to be a co-sponsor of the event along with many other organizations including
the embassies of Canada and France in Uruguay. The guest of honor will be Eugène
Enriquez and a number of RC46 members – including Vincent de Gaulejac, Ginette
Francequin, Jacques Rhéaume, Patricia Guerrero, Jacqueline Barus-Michel,
Catherine Montgomery and Jean Philippe Bouilloud – will take part in the Congress.

Jan Marie Fritz (US) notes that RC46 is expected to have an evening session
during the American Sociological Association (ASA) conference (August 20-23, 2011) in
Las Vegas, Nevada. Please let her know (at [email protected]) if you will be attending the
ASA meeting this year.

international de psycho-sociologie et sociologie clinique se tiendra du 13-15 avril 2011 à
Montevideo, Uruguay. Le Congrès est ouvert à ceux qui désirent y participer, mais
chaque personne doit assumer ses frais d’inscription. Les organisations hôtes sont

Awards/Prix.
It was proposed and accepted at our business meeting in Göteborg, Sweden (2010) to
develop several awards that would give recognition to contributions made to the field of
clinical sociology. Denyse Côté and Jan Marie Fritz have developed a draft that is
being circulated to officers and, after revision, it then will be sent to the other executive
board members. As soon as the reviews are completed and revisions made, members will
receive the draft for their comments. We hope that our first awards can be given at our
2012 conference in Buenos Aires.
Lors de notre réunion administrative à Göteborg, Suède (2010), il a été proposé
et accepté qu’on développe plusieurs prix afin de reconnaître les contributions dans le
champ de la sociologie clinique. Denyse Côté et Jan Marie Fritz ont préparé une
première version de la politique des prix qui a été soumise aux officiers et, après
révision, sera envoyée aux autres membres de l’exécutif. Dès que les révisions seront
faites, tous les membres recevront une copie du texte pour commentaire. Nous espérons
que les premiers prix pourront être octroyés lors de notre conférence 2012 à Buenos
Aires.
RC46 listserv/Listserv RC46
RC46 now has a listserv through Northwestern University. RC46 newsletters
will be distributed to each RC46 member by the listserv and all our members have been
signed up for the listserv. The listserv is moderated. RC46 newsletters and
announcements go through Jenifer Cartland, the editor of the listserv. Jenifer, as editor,
will try to prevent spam from invading the listserv. If you have any questions, please
contact Jenifer Cartland ([email protected]).

RC46 website/site internet
Jenifer Cartland has created a website to help members and non-members keep
up to date on RC46 activities. The website will be linked to the ISA website so that it can
be found easily. The DRAFT website: https://sites.google.com/site/isarc46/ will soon be
up and running. We are exploring ways to do this in French as well as English. We
welcome your comments and suggestions! Please send them to Jenifer Cartland

Jan Marie Fritz was an invited presenter about “The National Action Plans for Women,
Peace and Security” at the International Seminar on the Tenth Anniversary of UN
Security Council Resolution 1325, hosted by Operation 1325 in Stockholm, Sweden
(October 21, 2010). Jan also has organized a session about “Women, Security and a Just
Peace: Research and Action” – sponsored by the International Sociological Association –
as a parallel event at the meeting of the UN Commission on the Status of Women
(February 25, 2011).
