Culture : La fantasia
Tous les ans au Maroc a lieu la fantasia. Cet événement équestre sportif et
traditionnel met en scène 1 000 troupes et 15 000 chevaux arabes qui reproduisent
des assauts militaires. Ce sport réunit à la fois la chasse, l'équitation et l’art de la
guerre.
Cette tradition tribale, rurale et religieuse fait partie du patrimoine culturel
marocain. Elle unit l’homme et le cheval. Lors des spectacles, les cavaliers
s'élancent en ligne jusqu’au galop avant de s'arrêter net et de tirer en l’air à l’unisson.
Les armes utilisées pour la fantasia ont évolué avec le temps. On a d'abord utilisé
des arcs, puis des arbalètes et enfin des fusils.
La tradition de la fantasia connaît un tel succès qu’elle est aujourd’hui
organisée par la Fédération royale marocaine des sports équestres. En 2008, le
Complexe royal des sports équestres a été créé. Ce Complexe inclut une école de
fantasia où les cavaliers sont entraînés et où on y enseigne la confection d’habits
traditionnels et d’accessoires d’harnachement.
Each year in Morocco, a celebration known as fantasia is held. This traditional
equestrian sporting event sees 1,000 troops and 15,000 Arabian horses re-enact
military battles. This sport combines hunting, horseback riding, and the art of war.
This rural, religious, tribal tradition is a part of Moroccan cultural heritage,
uniting men and horses. During the presentations, the riders set off in lines at a
gallop before stopping and firing into the air in unison. The weapons used for fantasia
have evolved over time. Originally bows and arrows were used, followed by
crossbows, and finally rifles.
The tradition of fantasia has been so successful that it is now organized by the
Royal Moroccan Federation of Equestrian Sports. In 2008, the Complexe royal des
sports équestres (Royal Equestrian Complex) was created. This complex includes a
fantasia school where riders are trained and where they also teach how to create
traditional clothing and harness accessories.
