Les dernières heures de Grigoris Lambrakis avant son assassinat par
les membres d’une organisation paramilitaire, avec la connivence de la police
(événements sur lesquels est basé le Z de Costa-Gavras). Des documents sur
l’origine sociale de ces groupes d’extrême droite et sur leurs relations avec certains
organes gouvernementaux se greffent à ce récit. En contrepoint aux événements
ayant conduit à l’assassinat, la foule constitue un chœur qui pleure le héros du mouvement pour
la paix. The last hours of Grigoris Lambrakis, who was assassinated by members of a para-statal
organisation with the complicity of the police, an event that inspired Costas Gavras’ film, Z. The film
features documents on the social origin of fringe urban groups and their links with state mechanisms.
The events leading to the assassination contrast with the chorus from the crowd mourning for the hero
of the peace movement.

À la frontière entre documentaire et fiction, portrait de Betty, célèbre transsexuelle athénienne,
qui évite tous les pièges du voyeurisme. La voix de Betty évoque son enfance, sa vie quotidienne,
le plaisir et l’estime de soi mais aussi l’exclusion sociale. Le film de Stavrakas est un témoignage
important de la transition d’une politique de classes à une politique des identités, à une époque
où la communauté gay décidait de se lever contre l’homophobie et la marginalisation. Treading
the thin line between fiction and documentary, a portrayal of the famous Betty, an Athenian transsexual, which avoids all the traps of cheap voyeurism. Betty’s narration touches on her childhood,
everyday life, pleasure and self-esteem, as well as social exclusion. Stavrakas’ film is an important
statement on the transition from a politics of class to a politics of identity, at a time when the gay
community decided to react to homophobia and marginalisation.
