Cher Monsieur,
Excusez le retard que j’ai mis à répondre à votre lettre, des circonstances
indépendantes de ma volonté m’ont empêché de la faire plus tôt.
Je regrette beaucoup de ne pouvoir répondre à votre appel et je ne puis y répondre
pour plusieurs raisons. Mais d’abord permettez-moi de vous dire que j’ai été très surpris de
voir mon nom figurer, sans mon assentiment, sur la liste des rapporteurs de l’assemblée de
Genève. Lors de votre visite je vous ai dit, devant M. Klugmann, que je réservais mon
adhésion tant que je n’aurai pas eu connaissance du protocole de la conférence de
Munich. Hors vous m’avez transmis un protocole où je figure déjà, avec une attribution
déterminée, celle de rapporteur pour la question de la situation économique des Juifs. Avec
ma grande surprise j’ai pu constater que ce protocole disait à l’avance de quelle façon je
comprendrai le rapport que je n’avais pas accepté de faire. Laissez-moi vous dire sans
aucune acrimonie que c’est une façon insolite de procéder. Mais laissons cela et croyez
bien que je n’en garde rancune ni à vous, ni à vos amis.
Pour en revenir au fond même de la chose, je ne puis accepter de participer à aucun
titre au Congrès des jeunes sionistes. Le Congrès accepte le programme de Bâle, et je
ne l’accepte pas, il y a donc là une première raison et elle est telle qu’il est à peine besoin
d’en formuler d’autres. Je suis bien déterminé à ne m’enchaîner par aucun programme par

celui de Bâle moins que par tout autre car il n’a été que le programme d’une fraction de la
bourgeoisie juive intellectuelle et il ne répond en aucune façon selon moi, à la réalité, à la
situation du peuple juif ou à ses besoins.
Je suis convaincu que la tâche essentielle est avant tout de libérer le peuple juif,
mais surtout de le libérer des entraves intérieures. Avant de donner un sol à un peuple, il
faut faire de ce peuple un peuple libre. Le jour où j’ai vu au congrès de Bâle le troupeau
des rabbins galiciens, j’ai compris que le sionisme Herzliste ne donnerait pas encore aux
Juifs l’essentielle liberté. Conduire un troupeau d’esclaves en Palestine n’est pas une
solution de la question. La seule façon dont ce troupeau accepte dès aujourd’hui de se
laisser guider par un état-major gouvernemental qui use de toutes les tromperies des
gouvernements et des états-majors prouve que l’œuvre à faire est une œuvre d’éducation.
Il faut apprendre aux Juifs à penser, il faut les arracher aux superstitions ritualistes et
talmudiques, il faut renouer pour eux la chaîne des penseurs rationalistes que le judaïsme
a produits, il faut leur montrer que le fond même du judaïsme est la pensée rationnelle. Il
faut extirper de leur cerveau toute la fausse croyance juive plus les préjugés chrétiens dont
se sont encombrés ceux d’entre eux qui ont échappé au rabbinisme déprimant.
Pour faire une tâche pareille pas n’est besoin de Congrès. Ce ne sont plus que des
réunions où l’on parle qui sont nécessaires mais des groupements où l’on agira et c’est
dans les centres juifs, en Galicie et en Russie que ces groupement doivent se former et ce
n’est surtout pas un étroit sentiment nationaliste qui doit les guider. Israël cosmopolite a
souffert en tout temps de l’exclusivisme, du protectionnisme et du nationalisme ; il doit s’en
garder et aider s’il le peut le monde à se débarrasser de ce fléau. Culture juive ne doit donc
pas signifier culture propre à développer ou à exaspérer des sentiments de chauvinisme,
bien au contraire, cela doit signifier culture propre à développer des tendances juives qui
sont des tendances humaines dans le plus haut sens de ce mot. Que partout donc où je le
dis de pareils groupes s’organisent et que partout où il existe soit organisé le prolétariat juif
en tant que prolétariat autonome. C’est là me semble-t-il bien imparfaitement indiquée
l’œuvre que les « jeunes sionistes » devraient entreprendre. Ils ne l’entreprendront
utilement qu’en rompant avec le Sionisme politico-diplomatique, capitaliste et bourgeois qui
occupe la scène et fera des Juifs la risée de tous s’il ne les conduit pas à la catastrophe.
Vous pouvez faire, cher Monsieur, de ma lettre l’usage qui vous plaira, je vous prie
d’assurer aussi de ma sympathie très vive tous vos amis. Dites-leur que si je me suis retiré
de l’action sioniste au sens strict que l’on donne au mot action, le travail de toutes mes
heures et de tous mes jours est consacré au peuple juif. C’est pour lui que je pense, pour
lui que j’écris, quoi que vaillent et ces écrits et cette pensée.

II – Palestine : C'est la guerre.Une guerre d'extermination

Je suis revenue de Palestine, brisée. Non pas parce que je suis une âme faible, ou
parce que - à l'aéroport Ben Gourion - les fonctionnaires de police israéliens m'ont fait
l'ultime humiliation de me déposséder à jamais (1) de tout mon matériel de travail ;
enregistreur professionnel Kudelsky, ordinateur Machintosh, appareil de photo Leica, ainsi
que de tout leur précieux contenu.
Je suis revenue brisée de ce que j'ai vu, de ce que j'ai compris de la tragédie vivante
dont j'ai été témoin : de la guerre d'extermination raciste qu'Israël mène contre des civils
impuissants à se défendre, et que le monde se refuse à voir.
Les Palestiniens sont en grand danger.
Je crois que peu de gens ont pris la vraie mesure des horreurs auxquelles les soldats
israéliens se livrent dans ces lieux de torture, dans ces prisons à ciel ouvert que sont Gaza,
Naplouse, Balata, Jenin, Tulkarem et dans tant d'autres villages - prisons qui partagent le
même sort tragique.

Ce qui se passe en Palestine est bien plus terrible que ce que l'on s'imagine audehors, et qu'il est impossible de dénoncer par des images, car Israël veille à la sienne : les
soldats israéliens ont l'ordre de ne pas laisser les journalistes et les cameramans se tenir à
proximité des lieux où ils commettent des atrocités. Donc ils brutalisent les témoins, les
forcent à partir en les menaçant de leur arme, ou même les tuent.
C'est pourquoi, en revenant, j'éprouve de l'écœurement quand j'entends ce que
j'entends. Et ce soir j'ai résolu de sortir de mon trou de silence pour le dire. J'entends, jour
après jour, dans les divers médias, des personnages se livrer à des intimidations, proférer
des menaces voilées, contre les défenseurs des victimes Palestiniennes.
Ces condamnations d'antisémitisme nous ne pouvons plus continuer de les
supporter. Nous devons donner honte à tous ceux qui veulent faire dévier le regard de ce
qui se passe en vérité de gravissime en Palestine. Honte à ces hommes et ces femmes qui
veulent continuer de jeter une couverture sur les crimes odieux perpétrés par l'Etat d'Israël.
Au lieu de condamner la politique criminelle de cet Etat, au lieu de se distancer de sa
politique génocidaire.
Qui a entendu les cris de douleur de ces volontaires internationaux, dont certains ont
perdu la vie, qui accompagnent les Palestiniens laissés dans la plus grande des solitudes,
comme Kelly et Mika à Naplouse et Balata, ou Laura à Rafah, (2) qui disent les horreurs
dont ils sont encore présentement les fidèles témoins ?
Quels sont les gouvernements qui finiront par comprendre que l'on ne peut laisser
quelques volontaires internationaux défendre seuls, de leurs mains nues, des millions de
Palestiniens menacés par les tanks et la sauvagerie de soldats qui exécutent des crimes
sur ordre. On se le demande ?Où sont les organisations humanitaires internationales qui
possèdent véhicules tout terrain et grands moyens ? Hormis les équipes de secours
palestiniennes épuisées dont je tiens à louer l'héroïsme, nous n'en avons vu aucune agir
véritablement sur le terrain où l'armée israélienne opère et où il y a urgence humanitaire.
Par bonheur il y a encore, de par le monde, quelques âmes nobles, toutes croyances
et confessions confondues (Chrétiens, Musulmans, Juifs) qui souffrent de cette situation
épouvantable et cherchent à agir avant qu'il ne soit trop tard.
Voici ce que m'écrivait aujourd'hui Elias Davidson (3) avec qui j'ai eu de longs
entretiens depuis mon retour de Palestine, et qui a, lui, compris le système redoutable que
l'armée israélienne a mis en place en Palestine :
« Je comprend l'urgence. Il faut absolument que les Palestiniens obtiennent une
protection militaire contre le génocide que les Israéliens leur préparent. C'est urgent. Il faut
alerter les gouvernements. La ghettoïsation des Palestiniens est - comme avait été celle
des Juifs - la première phase de l'extermination. Car les sionistes - contrairement aux sudafricains - ne veulent pas exploiter la main d'œuvre arabe, mais se débarrasser purement et
simplement d'elle. La politique sioniste est bien plus proche de celle des nazis que de celle
qu'avait pratiquée la minorité blanche en Afrique du Sud (.) »
Nous devons faire intervenir les gouvernements pendant qu'il est encore temps.

My message is to urge jihad to repulse the grand plots hatched against our nation,
such as the occupation of Baghdad, under the guise of the search for weapons of mass
destruction, and the fierce attempt to destroy the jihad in beloved Palestine by employing
the trick of the road map and the Geneva peace initiative.
The Americans' intentions have also become clear in statements about the need to
change the beliefs and morals of Muslims to become more tolerant, as they put it.
In truth, this is a religious-economic war. The occupation of Iraq is a link in the Zionistcrusader chain of evil. Then comes the full occupation of the rest of the Gulf states to set
the stage for controlling and dominating the whole world.For the big powers believe that the
Gulf and the Gulf states are the key to global control due to the presence of the largest oil
reserves there. The situation is serious and the misfortune momentous.
The west's occupation of our countries is old, but takes new forms. The struggle
between us and them began centuries ago, and will continue. There can be no dialogue
with occupiers except through arms. Throughout the past century, Islamic countries have
not been liberated from occupation except through jihad. But, under the pretext of fighting
terrorism, the west today is doing its utmost to besmirch this jihad, supported by hypocrites.
Jihad is the path, so seek it. If we seek to deter them with any means other than
Islam, we would be like our forefathers, the Ghassanids [Arab tribes living under the
Byzantine empire]. Their leaders' concern was to be appointed kings and officers for the
Romans in order to safeguard the interests of the Romans by killing their brothers, the
peninsula's Arabs.
Such is the case of the new Ghassanids, the Arab rulers. Muslims, if you do not
punish them for their sins in Jerusalem and Iraq, they will defeat you. They will also rob you
of the land of the two holy places [Saudi Arabia].
Today they have robbed you of Baghdad and tomorrow they will rob you of Riyadh
unless God deems otherwise. What is the means to stop this tremendous onslaught? Some
reformers maintain that all popular and government forces should unite to ward off this
crusader-Zionist onslaught.
But the question strongly raised is: are the governments in the Islamic world capable
of pursuing their duty to defend the faith and nation and renouncing all allegiance to the
United States?
The calls by some reformers are strange. They say that the path to defending the
homeland and people passes though the doors of those western rulers. I tell those
reformers: if you have an excuse for not pursuing jihad, it does not give you the right to
depend on the unjust. God does not need your flattery of dictators.
The Gulf states proved their total inability to resist the Iraqi forces [in 1990-1]. They
sought help from the crusaders, led by the United States. These states then came to
America's help and backed it in its attack against an Arab state [Iraq in 2003].
These regimes submitted to US pressure and opened their air, land and sea bases to
contribute towards the US campaign, despite the immense repercussions of this move.
They feared that the door would be open for bringing down dictatorial regimes by armed
forces from abroad, especially after they had seen the arrest of their former comrade in
treason and agentry to the United States [Saddam Hussein] when it ordered him to ignite
the first Gulf war against Iran, which rebelled against it.
The war plunged the area into a maze from which they have not emerged to this day.
They are aware that their turn will come. They do not have the will to make the decision to
confront the aggression. In short, the ruler who believes in the above-mentioned deeds
cannot defend the country. Those who support the infidels over Muslims, and leave the

blood, honour and property of their brothers to their enemy in order to remain safe, can be
expected to take the same course against one another in the Gulf states.
Indeed, this principle is liable to be embraced within the state itself. And in fact the
rulers have started to sell out the sons of the land by pursuing, imprisoning and killing them.
This campaign has been part of a drive to carry out US orders.
Honest people concerned about this situation should meet away from the shadow of
these oppressive regimes and declare a general mobilisation to prepare for repulsing the
raids of the Romans, which started in Iraq and no one knows where they will end.

On ne se rend pas bien compte, à l'extérieur, de l'état mental inquiétant d'une bonne
partie de l'intelligentsia en Israël. Ces gens sont des malades mentaux qui expriment ce
qu'en terme très adoucis nous nommons de la paranoïa.
En voici un nouvel exemple, d'un auteur que nous avons évoqué le mois dernier.
I AM ASHAMED TO BE AN ISRAELI

I have spent most of the past 12 years being ashamed to be an Israeli. Israeli
governments made me ashamed, and they did so by abasing, disgracing and humiliating
me as a Jew and as an Israeli.
I have been ashamed for 12 years at being an Israeli because this was the period in
which the governments of Israel abandoned the struggle for Jewish national survival. They
stopped trying to defend me and all other Jews. They lectured me that it was my fault that
the Arab fascists were attacking Jews, and that it was within my power to stop the carnage
if only I would agree to demean myself sufficiently, to grovel before the terrorists of the
Middle East, and to appease the anti-Semites. I could achieve peace if I would agree to
place my neck in an Arab noose, but if I refuse to do so then I would be the impediment to
peace and my obstinacy would be to blame for all further carnage.
For 12 years, my government pursued a policy of defending me and my family by
abandoning all attempts to defend us. My government decided to pursue peace by
pretending that war did not exist. After two millennia of anti-Semitism, my government
decided that anti-Semitism does not REALLY exist, and that when people randomly murder
Jewish children it is because they have some legitimate grievances, because they have
suffered, and because Jews have shown them insufficient sensitivity.
My government implemented policies based on the presumption that the making of
concessions to blood-thirsty terrorists would be rewarded with moderation and goodwill, that
importing armed Nazis into the suburbs of Tel Aviv and Jerusalem would cause them to
seek peace. My government followed policies based on the notion that the Jews were evil,
insensitive, and selfish. My government decided that if Jews would only "share" their land
and resources with those who rule the entire territory from the Atlantic Ocean to Central
Asia, that is, with those who refuse to agree to any "sharing" that allows a Jewish state to
exist anywhere in the Middle East, then there would be peace.
My government decided that rewarding terrorists for violence would end violence, an
dthen told me that there was simply no alternative to coddling terrorists and nazis.
My government pursued peace by pretending that war did not exist. My government
sought peace through arming and bankrolling terrorists. My government decided that antiSemitism can only be overcome by redressing the "underlying grievances" that it reflects.
My government fought terrorism by not fighting it, and by trying to appease it. My
government insisted that I must coddle anti-Semites and terrorists, and must pander to their
agenda and desires for there is no other choice.
My government over the past 12 years preached to me that it was my own pride and
my parochial patriotism that was the obstacle to peace. It told me I must seek peace

through self-abasement and self-humiliation. My government told me that if I would show
willingness to compromise, then so would the Arabs.
My government has been wrong about everything, but refuses to admit it has been
wrong about anything.
My government decided that Palestinians are a "nation" and that chunks of my
Jewish lands were in fact "Palestinian lands". My government decided that Arabs may freely
live any place they wish anywhere in the land of Israel, but I may not live freely where I
might choose if it happens to be across the "Green Line". My government instituted
discrimination against me and against other Jews in the name of "affirmative action", quotas
and preferences for Arabs and directed against me.
My government fought for my survival through cowardice and endless "restraint",
turning my other cheek against my will, pursuing endless "goodwill gestures", which only
enflamed the violence. It did so despite the fact that I and my fellow Israeli citizens voted
repeatedly to revoke the "Oslo approach" and voted in favor of pursuing war against our
enemies, not appeasement. My government abandoned all of northern Israel to the mercies
of the Hizbollah rockets, now aimed at me in the thousands. My government abandoned
the Jewish towns near the Gaza Strip to rocket barrages from the PLO.
I have spent the past 12 years cringing in shame. My government made me feel that
way. But I have NEVER felt as ashamed at being an Israeli as I did this week, when my
government decided to reward the Hizbollah for murdering three of my fellow citizens in cold
blood. My government also abandoned Ron Arad, releasing his kidnapper, rewarding the
terrorists who kidnapped him, who "sold" him to Iran and possibly murdered him.
My government decided to release nearly 450 murderers with blood on their hands in
order to "buy" the release of the carcasses of three of my fellow citizens who were
murdered by the Hizbollah after they had been kidnapped by it. My government had
abandoned southern Lebanon to the Hizbollah and assured me there would be complete
tranquility thereafter. After the farcical Israeli "withdrawal" ordered by my government, the
Hizbollah has fired almost daily into Israel, has sent in terrorists who murdered Israeli
civilians, and snatched the three soldiers (two Jews and one Bedouin Arab) whose bodies
were released this week, after murdering them in cold blood.
Last week the Hizbollah murdered one more army officer working a bulldozer; in
response my government punished some empty Hizbollah buildings. The prisoner "deal"
was possible only because my government refuses to execute the murdering savages, the
terrorists. My government thinks capital punishment is inhumane, and its absence has made
possible the murders of 1300 of my fellow countrymen. That is like twenty two September
11ths, when measured proportional to population.
The Hizbollah also held as prisoner a man who had entered Lebanon for criminal
purposes, possibly a drug deal to pay off his gambling debts. I opposed releasing any
terrorists to get him released. I might have considered agreeing to release a handful as
payment to the Hizbollah to keep him imprisoned there, if he is indeed a drug smuggler.
My government decided to respond to the murders of the three POWs by rewarding
their murderers, not by converting three Hizbollah towns into large parking lots, not by
bathing the Hizbollah leaders in napalm. My government signaled to all my fellow citizens
that it was unwilling to avenge our deaths. My government let every Israeli soldier know that
his life would be worthless if captured by the enemy because my government would always
seek "deals" with those who murder POWs. My government made it known that by grabbing
some Israelis as hostages, anyone could obtain any concession they want from my country.
My government also let every soldier know that, if captured in war, he would be abandoned
to his fate by my government. My government agreed to this "deal" with the Hizbollah, a
deal that spit on the family of missing Israeli airman Ron Arad. The man who kidnapped and
"sold" Arad has been released by my government as payment for the release of the
common criminal.
My government is trying to cover its shame by boasting that it "held out tough" and
refused to release the baby-murdering terrorist Samir Kuntar, the man who murdered the
members of the Haran family in Nahariya. My same government boasts that it would have
released this arch-murderer had the Hizbollah so much as told Israel where Ron Arad (or his
grave) is.
So much for "standing tough".
My government is a disgrace. My government practices cowardice and pretends it is
courage. My government displays indifference to the Israelis who will now be murdered by

those released terrorists and murderers. My government had the gall to pretend it was
acting out of compassion and morality when it signed this capitulation, when it placed that
smirk on the face of the Hizbollah chief terrorist, boasting of his victory. To drive home the
point that the "deal" proves to the world that the Jews are on the run, the terrorists blew up
a bus in Jerusalem, the same Jerusalem they pretend is holy to them, as part of celebrating
the stampede of Jewish flight. After all, the Hizbollah was being rewarded for terror, so why
should not the Palestinians follow their lead in obtaining Israeli surrender?
The bus atrocity in Jerusalem was carried out by the "Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades," a

et les territoires palestiniens occupés
En 2003, l'économie israélienne a connu une inflation moyenne négative pour la
première fois de son histoire. Ces -1,9 % d'inflation sont devenus le sujet brûlant des
conversations dans les medias et les milieux économiques. Cependant, tandis que
l'inflation israélienne moyenne était négative, l'inflation moyenne des territoires palestiniens
occupés (TPO) restait positive et élevée. Voyons tout d'abord de plus près l'inflation en
Israël et dans les territoires palestiniens occupés :

Il est aisé de voir que l'inflation n'a pas suivi le même schéma dans les deux
économies. Depuis 1999 (l'effondrement matériel des accords d'Oslo) et 2000 (le
déclenchement de la seconde Intifada), on assiste à un accroissement constant de l'écart
entre les prix israéliens et palestiniens. Les prix à la consommation augmentent de façon
sensible chaque année dans les territoires palestiniens occupés tandis que leur croissance
est bien plus lente en Israël (pas d'inflation du tout en 2000 et une inflation négative en
2003). En 2001 seulement, Israël a connu une inflation légèrement plus élevée que dans
les TPO. Depuis 1999, l'écart est arrivé à un sommet de 12,5%. [...]
Ce mouvement s'exprime par la montée du chômage et la baisse des salaires. Le
pouvoir d'achat du travailleur moyen s'est trouvé gravement entamé. De même, le revenu
des classes supérieures s'est accru, mais cet accroissement s'est manifesté dans la valeur
croissante des avoirs financiers tels que les actions et les obligations, qui n'entrent pas
dans le calcul de l'indice des prix à la consommation (CPI) et n'apparaissent donc pas dans
les chiffres officiels concernant l'inflation. La demande de produits de consommation
élémentaires a sérieusement décliné, étant donné que les bénéficiaires de la redistribution
des revenus ne peuvent absorber que des quantités limitées de pain et de sucre.
L'économie israélienne se trouvant absorbée par une course à la bourse (qui
commence à donner des signes d'essoufflement), le marché actuel des produits de

consommation se trouve relativement abandonné. Pourquoi l'inflation palestinienne est-elle
aussi élevée ?
L'économie palestinienne étant très étroitement liée à l'économie israélienne, on
pourrait s'attendre à ce que les prix, par exemple, fluctuent dans le même sens en Israël et
dans les territoires palestiniens occupés. Pourtant, l'accroissement de l'écart entre les prix
en Israël et dans les TPO présente un tableau tout à fait différent.
Il est évident que l'augmentation des prix dans les TPO ne découle pas d'une
croissance du pouvoir d'achat moyen des Palestiniens. De fait, le pouvoir d'achat personnel
moyen des Palestiniens a diminué de 23% en 2002, puis encore de 23% en 2003. Depuis
le début de l'Intifada en l'an 2000, il s'est dégradé de plus de 45%.
Depuis l'an 2000, la consommation moyenne privée a baissé de près de 33%, mais
les importations ont décliné de plus de 48% (en raison des limitations israéliennes sur
lesquelles nous reviendrons). Cela signifie que les Palestiniens sont de plus en plus
dépendants de leur propre production pour survivre (et de l'aide étrangère).
La capacité palestinienne à produire s'est trouvée gravement lésée par les attaques
et les fermetures israéliennes. Pour situer la gravité de ces attaques, nous indiquerons que
les pertes occasionnées par la destruction par l'armée israélienne de propriétés privées et
d'infrastructures ont représenté 643 millions de dollars US entre 2000 et 2002. D'autre part,
la possibilité pour l'industrie locale d'importer s'étant trouvée encore davantage réduite,
l'industrie et l'agriculture palestiniennes déclinantes se trouvent en butte à une pression
croissante pour répondre à la demande de toute la population. Cette situation entraîne
évidemment un accroissement des prix, les gens se trouvant en compétition pour
l'acquisition de rares marchandises.
Selon la Banque Mondiale, ce sont les coûts de transport qui représentent le
principal moteur de l'augmentation des prix dans les territoires palestiniens occupés. Une
entreprise de conseil a illustré la façon dont la politique israélienne empêche les
importations et renchérit le transport en suivant l'itinéraire d'un chargement de produits de
consommation qui s'acheminait vers Gaza.
Le conteneur a été retenu 40 jours au port israélien pour un coût de 50 US$ par
jour. Les règlements exigeant un grand nombre de palettes même pour un conteneur, le
chargement en question (qui mesurait la moitié d'une palette) a été chargé sur un camion
qui transportait deux remorques. Le camion a dû patienter deux ou trois nuits au point de
passage de Karni avant de recevoir l'autorisation de rencontrer un camion palestinien qui
attendait de l'autre côté du barrage. Le conteneur a dû être transbordé d'un camion à
l'autre en vertu des célèbres règlements
'back-to-back' inventés par les autorités
israéliennes pour éviter que des camions ne traversent la frontière.
Lorsque le conteneur est enfin déchargé à Gaza, il ne lui est pas permis de
retourner en Israël, ce qui oblige la société importatrice à payer à la société de transport
une compensation de 2.000 $US.
En fin de compte, ce conteneur chargé de 4.000 $US d'ustensiles de cuisine a dû
payer 443 dollars de coûts d'entreposage aux autorités portuaires israéliennes, 2.000 $US
de transport et 2.000 $US pour le conteneur.. Lorsqu'on l'a ouvert, on a constaté que
1.500 $US de marchandises avaient été volés au cours de ce long processus (presque
deux mois !), alors que les marchandises étaient sensées se trouver sous la protection des
autorités israéliennes. La société importatrice a ainsi fini par payer 8.443 $US pour
2.500$US de marchandises (soit 337,7% de leur valeur)..
Voici pourquoi les importations palestiniennes sont en baisse tandis que les prix
augmentent. Aussi difficile que ce soit à imaginer, selon la Banque Mondiale, le prix du
transport de passagers a contribué à augmenter l'indice des prix encore plus que le coût du
transport de marchandises. Ceci est dû à la nécessité d'utiliser un grand nombre de taxis et
de réaliser un nombre infini de tentatives avant de pouvoir enfin se rendre à destination
(non seulement pour des destinations en Israël même, mais surtout pour se rendre au
village voisin ou dans la ville d'à-côté, ce qui implique également de contourner les
barrages routiers intérieurs).
En conclusion, l'inflation, si elle obéit à des mécanismes différents en Israël et dans
les territoires palestiniens occupés, puise à la même racine. Les politiques israéliennes,
responsables de la profonde récession qui frappe l'économie israélienne et entraîne la
déflation, sont également à l'origine des difficiles conditions de l'économie palestinienne qui
entraînent l'inflation.

The core of Islam is Shahada: to bear witness unto the Oneness of Allah and the
prophethood of Mohammed, may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him. To bear
witness is what it means to be a Muslim. According to the Islamic religion, all individuals who
have faith have been Chosen by God. To validate the Islamic world view is to reject the
Jews' concept of Chosen status based on race. Allah, the Lord, promises Paradise to all
those who died bearing witness to this concept of human equality, recognizing the
universality of the Creator. To live and die in a state of faith, or Iman, is the goal of every
Believer who strives to submit his will in peace to Allah. A person who is at peace with
himself and at peace with God, who practices Islam, declares Shahada every day in prayer.
A person in a state of faith does not view death as something horrifying. [Rappelons que le

Martyrdom is the ultimate Shahada because it proves you would rather die than to
bow before anything other than Allah. You are a free human being who refused to accept
oppression. In Palestine, the State of Israel has imposed a false doctrine declaring Jews as
the Master Race. This false religion is an idol that the Palestinians refuse to honor, in
keeping with the true prophetic tradition. In Palestine, just going to work or going to school
is a defiant declaration of independence. For a Palestinian, life itself is an act of refusing to
submit to other than Allah. A child killed by a stray bullet while walking to school is called a
"Shahid," as is a suicide bomber. If a woman's baby dies after she gives birth at a
checkpoint, that baby is called a Shahid. All Palestinians killed by Israel, or who die fighting
against Israel, are considered martyrs. The reason that fighting against Israel is so
important for Muslims worldwide is not because Israelis are the meanest killers in human
history, but because they have lied against God.
To steer one's path in accordance with the Divine Purpose, one has to constantly
pray for purity of intention so that all one's actions are for the sake of Allah alone. Even
lawful actions become "haram" or sinful if they are done without the proper intention. If a
person eats a meal forgetting to say "Bismillah" (in the name of Allah), prophetic tradition
teaches us that the nourishment then takes on a satanic quality. It is the consciousness of
Allah (Taqwah) in one's actions that makes an action righteous or commendable. A
commendable action requires knowledge. The Islamic belief is that there is something called
faith which is the knowledge of Allah. You have to live in this state of knowledge, or at least
aspire to that knowledge. Otherwise, you will die in a state of ignorance and failure.
Jahiliya, or ignorance, the Islamic understanding of Paganism, is identified by a
mythological or pseudo-scientific belief that the worlds are created by continuous struggle
between various gods or natural forces, whereas Islam upholds a faith in a Unity or

Oneness beyond the balance and interplay of opposing forces. One who lives in a state of
Oneness is spiritually satisfied and at peace. This sense of transcendence is not a "spiritual
philosophy" but a personal experience of reality. Not only is Allah real, but Allah is the only
Reality. A person who is martyred in a state of higher consciousness gets the best rewards
of Allah's Paradise. Paradise is a state of unending bliss that is always new, always
different, and always beautiful, like making love to 72 willing virgins. The willingness to die
for the sake of defeating an army that has declared itself an enemy to Allah and His
Prophets is akin to the story of David and Goliath. Palestinians identify with this story
deeply, as it is contained in both the Bible and the Quran.
The Palestinian boy, Faras Ouda, left home with nothing but a slingshot, determined
to be a hero. He decorated his own wreath in preparation. This brave kid was shot down by
a coward in an armored truck. Children who die before reaching puberty are reserved a
special garden in Paradise. The Prophet Mohammed, when he ascended into the seven
heavens from the rock in Jerusalem, saw the Prophet Abraham surrounded by children. The
Angel Gabriel told Mohammed that all the innocent children who have died now live under
the guardianship of the Prophet Abraham. The death of a child is an honor and a mercy to
the mother. It elevates the entire family spiritually. The child waits for his mother at the gate
of Paradise, begging Allah to forgive her sins so that they could someday be reunited. It is
said that Allah cannot break the heart of an innocent child, so He will allow even
undeserving parents, and the baby's wetnurse as well, to come to Paradise for the sake of
the child's happiness. This is as true when the child died of leukemia as when the child was
killed by Israel. The Quran reminds us that the life of this world is but a trial and that our true
home is in the hereafter.
While Zionists think of the Jewish Holocaust as a burnt sacrifice offered to Yahweh to
justify the State of Israel, Islam does not teach that death in itself grants expiation for sins
and automatic rewards. The most dramatic act of sacrifice - death in battle against an
oppressive regime - does not necessarily guarantee Paradise. That is why Palestinian
suicide bombers pray for the acceptance of their sacrifice. The Prophet Mohammed once
told a story of a man who died in battle, after having killed several enemy soldiers. The
prophet explained that although this man appeared to others as a war hero, the man was
going to hell because he was not fighting for the sake of Allah alone. His intentions were
mixed with the desire for glory. Other traditions tell of the great warrior saint, Ali, who, while
dueling with an opponent, reached a point where the enemy soldier was on the ground. Ali
was about to kill him when he spat in Ali's face. At that point, Ali immediately released the
enemy soldier unharmed. He asked the great Muslim why his life had been spared. Ali
answered that if he had killed the man out of anger, it would be a grave sin. Passions can
nullify the reward for Jihad, or the struggle against oppression. The person who by the
command of Allah commits an act of war, not out of hate, but for the ultimate goal of
establishing justice, and who dies in the process, whether he or she is killed by an Israeli
bullet or on a suicide mission, is a Shahid. However, someone who kills or is killed in an act
of desperation or ethnic nationalism, has served Satan.
The whole idea behind Islamic warfare is that it is not allowed to be motivated by
revenge. However, there is such a thing as retaliation in war. Allah's law says a life for a life
is just, though it is better to forgive. So far, the Palestinians have not even come close to
that, so there is not much sense in being outraged at suicide bombers, as it just feeds into
the false doctrine of unconditional Jewish innocence.
While terrorism does claim lives, it is more symbolic and theatrical than efficient, and
in the end, may reduce civilian casualities. For every ten Israelis killed in a pizzeria, there
might be 10,000 Israelis that decided to move to Sweden, and 10,000 Romanians who
decided to stay in Romania. The more "civilized" approach would be to carpet bomb Tel
Aviv from an airplane. However, mass loss of life would be guaranteed as collateral
damage. Islam says to establish justice for all people including non-Muslims. Allah
commanded the Palestinians to win this war. They are not fighting for greed, they are
fighting because they have no other option since they are under attack. As such, they have
to use successful strategies to win the war for the sake of Allah.
Perhaps the main difference between Zionist killers and Islamic killers is attitude.
Israelis do their bulldozing and indiscriminate shooting of civilians in a state of hate, often
while drunk. Their ultimate goal is erasing Palestine. Islamic soldiers go to battle with a
sense of the sacred, with solemn purpose and clear mind. At worst, they seek a life-for-life
retaliation. Their ultimate goal is to bear witness to the Oneness of Allah. Until the recent

past, I had no opinion one way or another about Palestinian suicide bombers, considering
them irrelevant to the question of whether Israel should continue to exist. I left it to Allah to
send them to heaven or hell. To be ready to die for a cause is the proof of one's sincerity.
But as with all acts of worship, we can never be totally sure of Allah's approval. All we can
do is ask for Signs. The story of the mother who prayed for ten Israelis to be killed by her
daughter's martyrdom, and the exact answer to her prayer seemed to me to be a sign that
Allah blessed the sacrifice, at least in this particular instance. I don't see any contradiction
between viewing suicide bombing as a successful strategy of war, and as a service to Allah
that goes beyond the desire for attaining a specific worldly goal.
It is hard for some of us to accept that God may have commanded good people to
fight against the Jews, even knowing that the Jews are committing genocide in Palestine.
As for me, there was a time when I felt sorry for the Jews, but those days are over. Israel
supporters are not stupid. They are satanic. What kind of person moves onto property
when he knows the previous owners were forced off by gunpoint and made homeless? As
long as Zionists continue to buy and sell stolen property in Israel like some kind of criminal
mafia, I don't think it is reasonable to expect that Jews should feel free to live in Israel and
think they should not be killed. My biggest issue with suicide bombings is that so many
Palestinians have to die in the process.
No American or Israeli has the moral authority to judge the Palestinians, most of
whom have no passports and are not allowed to live legally anyplace on earth. It actually
appears that the Jewish community demonizes Arabs out of a neurotic need to perceive
themselves as victims, even when this defies logic. Apparently, they want Palestinians to kill
them. Jews only feel comfortable when they are surrounded by people who want them
dead. It may be that they need us to force them to give up the concept of the Jewish State
to help them save face. They will leave Israel, but they can't do it by agreeing to it in a
rational way. They can't just admit they were wrong and give back the stolen property. They
can't just admit that non-Jews are their human equals and give them equal rights and live in
peace. They need to preserve the sense that the world wants to mass murder them, without
which they lose their sense of identity. They need us to help them leave with their
victimhood intact.
I would personally recommend for some civilized country to send their Air Force to
bomb the Jewish settlements, dismantle the racist State of Israel, and return the Palestinian
refugees to their homes in Palestine with financial compensation and full citizenship rights.
While Zionist criminals should face Guantanamo, the most Islamic way to deal with the
Israeli public would be a general amnesty. Either Jews should apply for Palestinian
citizenship, or they should leave. Palestinians and their well-wishers should stop begging for
a "state." All of historical Palestine belongs to the Palestinians. The Israeli Wall is proof
that compromising with racists is not an option. For all those who strive with their lives and
with their possessions in the cause of Allah, bearing witness to the Truth that Allah is One,
who are not fighting for a nationalist cause but for a future free of artificial national borders
and false racial identities, I pray Allah help them.

As the carnage in Iraq continued last night, US military chiefs warned they would run
out of money for operations in Afghanistan and Iraq at the end of September unless
President George W. Bush asked Congress for more funds.

Because the Bush administration's 2005 military budget contained no money for Iraq
and Afghanistan, the armed services would be forced to pay for operations with funds that
were supposed to be used for modernisation and other items, they said.
"I am concerned ... how we bridge the gap between the end of this fiscal year and
whenever we could get a supplemental (spending bill) in the next year," US Army Chief of
Staff Peter Schoomaker told the Senate armed services committee yesterday. "And I don't
have an answer for exactly how we would do that." [...]
The cost of keeping US troops in Iraq has been controversial. Before the war, US
Deputy Defence Secretary Paul Wolfowitz predicted Iraq's vast oil wealth would finance its
reconstruction soon after Saddam Hussein's overthrow.
But last year Congress approved two administration requests totalling almost $US166
billion to finance the war and reconstruction in Iraq and Afghanistan. Several US politicians
have accused the administration of trying to hide the true cost of the Iraq war by not
including operational money for Iraq in the 2005 budget. White House budget director
Joshua Bolten told reporters last week that a supplemental spending bill for Iraq could run
as high as $US50 billion.
Democrat senator Jack Reed called on US Defence Secretary Donald Rumsfeld to
send a request to Congress as soon as possible. "The US military faces a severe funding
problem," Senator Reed said.
Mr Rumsfeld said US military forces would use money from other programs to pay for
the Iraq operations until the next supplemental spending bill was passed. General
Schoomaker said the army was spending about $US3.7 billion a month for operations in
Iraq and $US900 million a month for Afghanistan. [= more than 150 million US$ per day.]

For Whom the Death Tolls:
Deliberate Undercounting of "Coalition" Fatalities

There is evidence of a concerted effort afoot to obfuscate the number of casualties in
the recent crop of US-led wars. May 1st was the day the president Bush landed on an
aircraft carrier and declared the end to the war and the start of the occupation of Iraq [1].
Since then many casualty numbers have been publicized, most of them disingenuous
fudges of the real death toll. There are many reasons why the casualty toll is understated,
and these are dissected here.
The Bush regime is doing its best to hide the human cost of its recent wars. Publicity
of the soldiers' deaths is bad during an election year, and would be bad for the continued
justification for the American occupation of Iraq. If they are intent on hiding the casualty
figures, then it behooves us to uncover and amplify them.
Are We a "Coalition"?
The US propagandists and the media refer to the term "coalition" when it suits them.
When it is important to show that the US didn't act alone without UN authorization, then the
virtues of the "coalition" are extolled. When the purpose is to reduce the numbers of
casualties reported and to hide the death toll, then it is convenient to count the US
casualties exclusively. The fact that British, Danish, Spanish, Polish, and Iraqis working for
US aren't added to the casualty tally used by the media is less than honest.
If one found that the US media focused exclusively on US casualties, then this may
be understandable. The British are the second most important contingent in the so-called
coalition, and one would expect the British media to report casualties of both the US and
UK. However, when reporting on the seriousness of the situation the BBC also separates
the figures and focuses on the US casualties. BBC Online has numerous articles dealing

exclusively with US casualties, and separately there are a few articles on British casualties
[2]. One can only interpret this as an attempt to reduce the reported numbers and hide the
scale of the resistance against the "coalition". And downplaying the British casualties even
in British media is odd to say the least.
Classification Fudge
If a soldier steps on a landmine, should the victim be classified as a "hostile"
casualty? How about someone killed clearing mines? In order to arrive at the mediareported fatality statistics, one must actually classify several such deaths as "non-hostile" -which are thus not reported by most media, as they only report the soldiers killed by
"hostile" action. Of course, the major news groups are not required to use the propaganda
compliant numbers -- they keep extensive lists too. And if they aren't willing to work out the
numbers themselves, they could refer to Lunaville (a good quality data source) [3].
However, the classification currently used definitely results in a reduction of the number of
reported casualties. It is also clear that the Pentagon's numbers are used widely; otherwise,
one couldn't explain how CNN's figures are the same as those reported by the BBC.
Anyone attempting to record casualty figures, distinguishing for cause of death, would most
likely have derived a different tally. Since this is not the case with major media, one can only
infer that the use of propaganda compliant numbers serves to reduce the reported toll.
There is also clear manipulation of the data. For example, soldiers killed by hostile
actions are subsequently reclassified as accidental deaths [4]. The simple fact that this
manipulation is evident to anyone willing to investigate this should be reason enough to
report all the fatalities irrespective of their reported cause of death, but this is not the case.
The graph below shows a relatively high level of "non-hostile" deaths during May
2003. It looks somewhat suspicious, and it may be an interesting question that intrepid
embedded journalists could ask of their Pentagon handlers. Initially there were many
deaths due to "Humvee rollovers" -- 17 to be precise; perhaps soldiers now wear seat belts
explaining why this cause of death has disappeared. A more likely explanation is that the
cause of death was really due to hostile action, i.e., rollovers of an explosive kind. Even a
simple eyeball approach to statistics reveals an odd reduction of the "non-hostile" deaths in
the graph.
Honest reporting would require tallying a casualty if the victim would be alive today
had they not been in Iraq. Dying of heatstroke, unexplained illnesses, clearing landmines,
Humvee rollovers, suicide, fragging [5], should all be included in the tally. Only then is it
possible to obtain a better picture of what is happening on the ground, and estimate what
the real casualty figures may be like in the future. And there is one argument that
Americans will surely understand: these numbers also indicate how costly this occupation is
going to be in dollar terms.
Some Statistics
It is curious that for a nation obsessed with stock market charts virtually no news
organization publishes soldier fatality charts. The chart below merges the fatalities of both
the US and uk (yes, lowercase uk -- the British contingent is less than 10% of the total). It is
clear that there is an upward fatality trend, and this is surprising because all foreign military
forces in Iraq have reduced their exposure. For example, this is what Patrick Cockburn had
to say about this:
Overall, the capture of Saddam Hussein seems to have made little difference
to the level of resistance. This is not immediately obvious, because the number of
attacks on US forces is down to about 17 a day now, compared with twice that two
months ago. But this is in large part because, eager to cut their casualties, US
commanders cut the number of patrols they carry out by two thirds from 1,500 a day
in November to 500 a day in December.
So, if the exposure to potential threats has diminished, and the casualty rate is up,
then this only means one thing: the resistance is growing fiercer. The overall average rate
of fatalities stands at 1.5 per day for the May 1 through Jan. 27, 2004 period. The rate in
the last month stands at 1.8, and the forecast for the fatality rate in May 2004 is 2.1/day.
The rate of fatalities is increasing. Whereas during the first four months of the occupation

the reported "hostile" causes of fatalities stood at 50%, now this has risen to 66% for the
period May 1st thru Jan. 27, 2004.
Curiously, no media organization publishes the racial composition of the fatalities.

The racial composition of the casualties remains roughly constant, with a slight
increase in the number of whites killed (this has gone from 65 to 68% of the total).
The average age and the average military rank of the fatalities are also increasing.
The explanation for this is that frontline troops tend to be younger and have lower rank. So,
when the conflict changes from a hot war to occupation there is a shift in the nature of
casualties: these go from frontline soldiers to reserve duty soldiers; the latter tend to be
older and have higher rank. Furthermore, the Iraqi resistance's methods to attack the troops
also explain this pattern. Mortars lobbed into military camps give everyone an even chance
of getting hurt; the same holds for military convoys hit by "IEDs" (a new military term for:
improvised explosive device).
Finally, for a culture obsessed with financial or weather forecasts, it is odd that no
one forecasts the military fatalities. In an article in September 2003, I forecasted that the
US-uk fatalities from May 1st to Dec. 31st would be 378; the actual number turned out to be
374. Again, this isn't rocket science, it just requires some basic statistics. The forecast for
the May 1, 2003 until May 1, 2004 is of 610 US-uk military fatalities, although it is likely that
it will be somewhat lower since the Iraqi resistance is running out of explosives and
ammunition. A forecast around 560 fatalities is more probable, unless the Iraqis manage to
bring down a transport plane -- the one hit on Jan. 8th had 69 military personnel on board,
but fortunately it wasn't shot down.
Today's Miracle Workers
There have been thousands of soldiers transferred to Germany or the US for medical
treatment. Initially, one found the occasional report of a soldier who subsequently died of
his wounds in hospital. During the past few months, there have been only three reports of
such deaths even though the casualty rate has increased. Either such fatalities are now
classified as medical malpractice, or the doctors are performing miracles and keeping all
wounded soldiers alive. At least two suicides of returning soldiers at a military hospital were
treated as local casualties. One thing is certain, there is ample dishonesty creeping into the
counting of the death toll by refusing to count those dying at hospitals such as the Walter
Reed Medical Center in Washington.
Mercenaries
Another important factor influencing the tally are the mercenaries. The number of
mercenaries has increased markedly. If one travels to the Baghdad airport one finds many
Gurkhas in guard posts. There are 300 Fijian mercenaries in Iraq hired by a private
contractor, and there are other private security personnel working elsewhere in Iraq. When
these folks are killed, many of them also American citizens, then their numbers don't inflate
the casualty toll. A recent BusinessWeek article on the mercenary industry reported the
deaths of some of the employees of a Haliburton subsidiary; these deaths will not inflate
the death toll statistics. The attitude seems to be that they were just paid to do a risky job; if
they were killed, tough luck! With this situation, it is impossible to obtain the true death toll.
On August 20th a translator wearing a full US Army uniform was killed, yet his death
doesn't count as a fatality statistic in the CentCom press releases. The translator must have
been on a contract with the US Army, and although he was an American citizen, his death
won't count. CNN or the BBC also don't count this victim, and this can be easily determined
by checking the extensive lists kept by both these news organizations. By excluding such
deaths from their tallies, both CNN and BBC remain propaganda-compliant.
Errors and Omissions
Anyone trying to make sense of the casualty numbers reported by CentCom or
DefenseLink will find increasingly that there are reporting errors [6]. For example, dates are
sometimes wrong, the archive records are incomplete (e.g., DefenseLink October listing is
incomplete and until recently one could not retrieve early records) and the number of
casualties in one of these sources doesn't match the other. CentCom failed to report

altogether the 17 deaths from a helicopter collision on Nov. 15th. On Nov. 2nd, sixteen
soldiers were reported killed in the recent downing of the Chinook helicopter, while the initial
CentCom report only listed 15, and it was not updated; when one adds up the confirmed
deaths in the DefenseLink website, then one only counts 14. The other little errors are
simply boring but it points to a concerted effort to obfuscate the death toll.
Only dead count?
It is rather odd only to be concerned about counting the dead.
There are plenty of soldiers maimed and their lives ruined. Although the number of
these casualties is putatively available, it is only made available if requested by journalists.
One can only conclude that there haven't been too many requests, thus explaining the
difficulty in obtaining these statistics.
Some soldiers may not appear in any statistic yet, but many are near areas where
Depleted Uranium munitions [aka, DU ammo] were used -- this even occurred in the middle
of Baghdad, where even a water treatment plant was demolished with DU-ammo. Vast
stretches of Iraq have been poisoned from the reckless bombing of chemical and nuclear
sites, and now soldiers are expected to work there. The war departments of both the UK
and US are intent on hiding the numbers of new Gulf-War-Syndrome cases, but a court
case in London has revealed that there already are some. Given that many more soldiers
died from this syndrome than on the 1991 Gulf War battlefield, then one must expect a new
death toll to emerge in the months to come, and it will likely not appear on the CNN tally.
Soldiers are forced to work in a toxic soup [7] and when soldiers die of horrible diseases this
will likely be in the US, and thus will not be counted.
President Bush exhibits some unexplained callousness when confronted with the
soldier casualties; the likely reason for this may be that he is empathy-impaired. He has
not attended any soldier funerals, and he has seldom visited wounded soldiers in the
hospital - so much for "supporting our troops". It is also clear that the White House is doing
its best to hide the statistics or references to the soldier casualties. The wounded soldiers
are flown in at night, and journalists are barred from reporting on the arrival of coffins, or
their burial. Again, mention of the casualties is bad for the justification of the continuation of
the occupation of Iraq, and it is bad for politics during an election year.
Soon at a Mall Near You.
Military analysts report a very high incidence of suicides in Iraq when compared to
other conflicts, and there have been some evacuations of soldiers due to mental distress.
The period of service is long, the stress is very high, and therefore we can expect large
number of mental disorders to develop. When these soldiers return to the US, to a society
that is not supporting them or assisting them with their mental condition, we can then
expect a shooting rampage or two. These are true ticking time bombs, soon to boost a
death tally.
How about the Iraqis
CNN and BBC rarely report on the "coalition"-Iraqi soldiers or policemen killed. They
make a statistic the day a bomb explodes, but then there is no running tally for them. This
privilege of appearing in a tally is reserved only for American or British casualties.
The number of other Iraqis killed is also not reported, and journalists are barred from
visiting the morgues to determine this side of the ghastly death toll. It is important for us to
know this statistic simply to know if the locals have a legitimate grievance and if the
occupation is sitting on top of an unmanageable situation. Again, the release of such
information is taboo to the new owners of Iraq.
Blood-Soaked Cake
The neocons cheered on the war against Iraq claiming it would be a cakewalk. When
questions arose about the wisdom of this war, they recited the "support our troops" mantra,
and now they are squabbling among themselves to determine which country to target next.
These dogs of war are safely ensconced in their air-conditioned think tanks, not really giving
a damn about who is being killed or who is paying for all of this, and now they are banging
the war drums for their next foray. The execrable Richard Perle also stated that "we" are in
Iraq for the long haul no matter the cost [8].
Unfortunately, there are many Americans who seem to be content with this state of
affairs and who don't seem to mind the terrible cost exacted from the people in the area.

The only thing that seems to matter is the number of American (and possibly British) soldiers
killed, but even that real interest is not adequately answered. As shown in this article, the
propagandists are intent on obfuscating these statistics and are even seeking to hide the
arrival of the coffins back in the US. To avoid further wars, to truly "support our troops," and
to rein in the insufferable neocons, it is essential that the population at large be made
aware of the costs of these wars.
Everyone should be made aware of the terrible toll in terms of blood and money.

said. Barzani said "historically, geographically" there has been an area called Kurdistan
made up of areas with majority Kurdish population.
"What we say is this: The borders of the federal union should be made up of areas
that are called Kurdistan," he said, reiterating a demand by Kurdish leaders.
The Kurdish aspirations have alarmed neighboring Turkey, Syria and Iran, which fear
that granting Iraqi Kurds an ethnic enclave could incite separatist sentiments among
Kurdish minorities within their own borders.
Barzani also demanded that Arabs, who were settled in Kirkuk and other Kurdish
areas, should be asked to leave. Then Kurds can vote in a referendum on whether they

Irak: l'or noir et les rouges-bruns
(par les non-amnistiés d'Amnistia)
En juillet dernier, nous alertions l'opinion sur une pétition exigeant la libération des
dirigeants irakiens impliqués dans la dictature de Saddam Hussein, pétition qui mettait en
avant le nom de Tarek Aziz. Cette pétition avait été rédigée à l'initiative de l'Association des
Amitiés franco-irakiennes, un groupe de pression dirigé par Gilles Munier (voir notre article
"Rouges-Bruns: une nouvelle passerelle, via Bagdad... "). La liste des signataires avait la
particularité de rassembler des personnalités venant d'horizons les plus divers. Des
pasquaïens côtoyaient des chevénementistes, d'ex-communistes se frottaient à des néofascistes, et des négationnistes roucoulaient en compagnie d'humanitaires fourvoyés.
A l'époque, plusieurs personnalités avaient tenu à se retirer de cette liste tandis que
d'autres comme Sami Naïr, bras droit de Chevénement, nous confirmaient leur engagement
en faveur de l'élargissement des "Irakiens sequestrés par les troupes d'occupation
américaine". Le collaborateur de revues négationnistes Mondher Sfar, les journalistes JeanLoup Izambert ou Jean-Paul Cruse, l'avocate Isabelle Coutant-Peyre ou le général Pierre
Galois, tout comme le député Paul-Marie Coûteaux, ou le gourou Alain de Benoist ne
démentaient pas leur participation, à notre connaissance, et leurs noms continuaient à
figurer en bonne place sur le site de Gilles Munier.
Les révélations du journal Le Monde daté du 28 janvier 2004 jettent une ombre
encore plus noire sur l'organisateur de cette opération. Il est en effet divulgué que certains
soutiens internationaux au régime baasiste de Bagdad recevaient d'importantes rétributions
dont l'unité de compte était le million de barils de pétrole!
Plusieurs personnalités mises en cause, comme Charles Pasqua, protestent de leur
bonne foi, récusent les informations du quotidien irakien Al-Mada que reprend Le Monde.
L'ancien ministre de l'Intérieur que l'on disait proche de Georges Bush évoque un coup
tordu des services américains…
Le dossier du Monde pointe également comme l'un des principaux bénéficiaires un
ancien député travailliste anglais, Georges Gallaway. Est-ce un hasard si son nom figure en
place de choix sur la pétition de juillet 2003 dont nous dénoncions l'existence? On ne
s'étonnera pas d'y voir figurer, pour 80 millions de barils, l'ultranationaliste russe Vladimir
Jirinovski.
Une seule personne, à ce jour, admet avoir reçu des "équivalents barils de pétrole"
en échange d'un travail de mise en relation d'entreprises pétrolières avec les décideurs
irakiens aujourd'hui déchus. Il s'agit de Gilles Munier, le coach de la pétition en faveur de
Tarek Aziz. Il s'en explique de cette manière:
"Tout se faisait dans le cadre de la formule dite 'Pétrole contre nourriture' et n'avait
rien d'illégal ni ne privait le peuple irakien de son dû en vertu de ladite formule". "Les
Amitiés franco-irakiennes l'ont fait et ont touché une commission sur la marge de bénéfices
qu'elle a faite", déclare textuellement Munier dans Le Monde du 24 janvier 2004.
Le secrétaire des "Amitiés franco-irakiennes", Gilles Munier, est également le
traducteur et le promoteur de l'oeuvre littéraire de Saddam Hussein.
Le site des "Amitiés Franco-Irakiennes" précise que cette association est régie selon
la loi de 1901, ce qui laisse planer un doute sur sa capacité à se lancer dans le commerce
du pétrole… D'autant que ses objectifs sont définis de cette manière:
-- promouvoir des relations amicales entre les peuples de France et d'Irak;
-- faciliter par des moyens de toute nature et, notamment, auprès des moyens
d'information, une meilleure connaissance des problèmes rencontrés par chacun des
deux pays et de contribuer à leur règlement;
-- aider aux échanges entre les deux peuples et, tout particulièrement, sur les
plans culturels, économiques, social et sportif;
-- contribuer à une animation de qualité dans les communautés irakiennes en
France et française en Irak.

Aux juristes de décider si la manipulation des robinets d'oléoducs, et les commissions
ou les dons qui en découlent,entrent dans le cadre des "échanges sur le plan
économique".
Le site de Gilles Munier précise également que son association des "Amitiés francoirakiennes" a été constituée début 1985 par des personnalités politiques, culturelles et
universitaires françaises, et il énumère la liste des membres fondateurs parmi lesquels on
remarque:
Jacques Berque (écrivain, professeur au Collège de France), Jean-Pierre
Chevènement (ancien ministre), Jean Dresh (professeur), Michel Lelong (religieux et proche
de Roger Garaudy), Alain Mayoud (député UDF), Robert Morel-Francoz (Ambassadeur de
France), Philippe de Saint Robert (écrivain).
Gilles Munier précise en outre que l'association est actuellement présidée par Marc
Bonnefous, Ambassadeur de France.
Il ne fait aucun doute pour nous que toutes ces éminentes personnalités, (tout
comme les signataires de la pétition), auront à cœur de s'exprimer sur les déclarations
extrêmement troublantes de Gilles Munier, secrétaire général de cette association, qu'elles
exigeront que soit mis à la disposition du public le montant exact des commissions reçues
en échange du travail de "mise en relation". (On parle de 15 millions de barils). Des
sommes qui doivent, en toute logique, figurer dans la comptabilité de l'association.
D'ailleurs, ces prestations qui selon Gilles Munier n'avaient "rien d'illégal" entreraient plutôt
dans les prérogatives d'une autre structure plus discrète, l'Association franco-irakienne de
coopération économique (AFICE) créée également par Gilles Munier. Une organisation que
l'on retrouve dans le Comité Irak, aux côtés de vieilles connaissances comme La Pierre et
l'Olivier de la toujours Verte Ginette Skandrani, avec le soutien du Parti des Musulmans de
France de Mohamed Latrèche…
Toutes ces mises au point s'avèrent d'autant plus nécessaires que le ministère
irakien du pétrole se dit prêt à fournir les documents accusateurs à Interpol afin que les
bénéficiaires des commissions en "millions de barils" soient traduits devant une cour de
justice internationale.

Guerre psychologique et "pétrole de Saddam":
Une campagne internationale de diffamation

Le quotidien irakien Al-Mada (L'Horizon), fondé en juin 2003, a publié le 25 janvier
les noms de personnalités, entreprises, partis et organisations qui militaient pour la levée de
l'embargo, les accusant d'avoir reçu des "coupons de pétrole" de Saddam Hussein,
monnayables sur le marché international. Le journal ajoutait que la preuve était ainsi faite
que le Président irakien avait dilapidé les ressources du peuple irakien.
Parmi les organisations citées, apparaît celui d'une "Association d'amitié francoarabe" avec en face une quantité : 15, 1 millions de barils de pétrole ...
Saddam Hussein aurait-il voulu distribuer des barils de pétrole à ses "amis" qu'il
n'aurait pas pu. Ceux qui prétendent le contraire mentent effrontément, car les ventes de
pétrole irakien étaient contingentées, le prix était fixé à l'ONU – en fait par les Américains –
son enlèvement, surveillé par des inspecteurs, et le montant des ventes déposé sur un
compte séquestre géré par la BNP pour les Nations-Unies auquel le gouvernent irakien
n'avait nul accès.

Mensonges
Quand le "Ministre" du pétrole irakien dit qu'il va charger Interpol de récupérer
l'argent "volé au peuple irakien", il sait bien que les contrats signés dans le cadre de la
résolution "Pétrole contre nourriture" étaient légaux et que les bénéfices dégagés par les
entreprises ne le concernent pas. Les sociétés qui enlevaient du pétrole irakien devaient
être enregistrées, et elles ne l'étaient qu'après enquête, notamment celle effectuée par les
services de renseignement américains. Ce qui veut dire que si des "commissions" ou "dons"
ont été versés à des intermédiaires, c'est sur la seule marge des entreprises. Il n'y a rien là
d'anormal, c'est la pratique commerciale courante.
Par ailleurs, les quantités de pétrole apparaissant en face des noms cités sont
délirantes. Le Comité des sanctions de l'ONU, au sein duquel les Etats-Unis possédaient
un droit de veto, n'aurait jamais donné leur accord pour de tels enlèvements. Au contraire,
les Américains ont tout fait pour réduire la marge des entreprises, relevant – ou diminuant à
volonté – artificiellement le prix du pétrole irakien, avec pour résultat l'asphyxie économique
de l'Irak. Le pétrole n'était plus enlevé et le compte séquestre à l'ONU était désespérément
vide. L'Irak ne pouvait plus acheter aucun produit autorisé.
Quand on affame un peuple, quand on lui interdit de se soigner normalement et de
s'instruire, on ne devrait pas s'étonner – et on devrait même comprendre – que tous les
moyens étaient bons pour desserrer le carcan qui étrangle.
Diffamation et menaces
Concernant le dossier d'Al-Mada, il faut d'abord savoir que tout ce qui est publié en
Irak doit obtenir l'imprimatur des services de Paul Bremer qui gouverne le pays au nom des
Etats-Unis, à plus forte raison quand il s'agit d'un document qui met en cause des dizaines
personnalités au niveau international.
Qui peut attester que les documents présentés soient vrais ? Les pillards ayant
détruit les bureaux de la SOMO (la société nationale chargée de la vente du pétrole), on
est en droit de se demander s'il ne s'agit pas de faux émis par la CIA. Quand on connaît
l'étendue des mensonges de l'administration Bush sur la réalité des armes de destruction
massive, on peut légitimement douter de ces révélations.
Déjà, depuis juin, des escrocs irakiens – téléguidés par les services américains –
tentaient de monnayer des documents fabriqués à des personnalités étrangères, les
menaçant de révéler à la presse internationale les informations qu'ils contenaient si elles
ne les achetaient pas au prix demandé.
Le dossier publié par Al-Mada sent la manipulation américaine. Il fait suite à la
diffusion sur Internet – à partir de Londres – d'une "liste noire des personnalités qui
soutenaient le régime de Saddam Hussein" où on retrouve la plupart des noms cités
aujourd'hui.
On a affaire à une campagne internationale de diffamation. Les Etats-Unis,
embourbés en Irak, tentent de freiner l'opposition qui enfle contre eux. Il leur faut montrer
du doigt des personnes connues pour leur opposition à l'embargo, des pays qui
n'approuvent pas l'agression américaine contre l'Irak, des pays ou des personnalités qui
réclament le départ des GI's et, enfin, qui estiment qu'on ne restaurera pas la paix civile en
Irak sans dialoguer avec la Résistance. Objectif de cette opération montée de bric et de
broc : intimider tous ceux répertoriés comme "anti-américains".
Hypocrisie américaine
Enfin, comment ne pas dénoncer derrière cette campagne une grande hypocrisie,
quand on sait que la majeure partie du brut enlevé dans le cadre de "Pétrole contre
nourriture" se retrouvait souvent sur le marché américain, ou servait de combustible pour la
flotte de guerre américaine croisant dans le Golfe arabe. On s'étonne aussi de ne pas
trouver dans la liste les noms, par exemple, des sociétés pétrolières américaines MobilExxon, Coastal States (de Houston -Texas, quand G.W Bush était gouverneur) ou Bay Oil,
qui ont enlevé du brut irakien jusqu'au MOU 9 ! En échange de quels services ? Quant à
l'ancienne opposition à Saddam Hussein, faut-il rappeler qu'elle était financée par le
Congrès, la CIA, la DIA, et certaines grandes entreprises américaines qui font aujourd'hui la
loi sur le marché irakien ?
Pour développer l'action des Amitiés franco- irakiennes, soutenir la politique arabe de
la France, tenter d'obtenir la levée de l'embargo, aider des Irakiens dans le besoin, il fallait

des moyens financiers. Une société pétrolière française avait bien voulu servir
d'intermédiaire en soutenant ponctuellement certaines de nos activités. Je l'avais introduite
sur le marché du pétrole irakien. Elle a fait son travail en toute légalité. Je regrette
seulement qu'il n'y ait pas eu plus d'entreprises françaises à nous aider. Si c'était à refaire :
je recommencerai.

Le quotidien irakien Dar Al-Mada a publié, dimanche 25 janvier 2004, une liste de
270 personnalités et sociétés étrangères ayant été rémunérées par Saddam Hussein,
depuis 1999. Elles auraient été gratifiées en millions de barils de pétrole en plein
programme "pétrole contre nourriture", donc au détriment de l'alimentation de la population.
Pour étayer ses accusations, le quotidien reproduit des fac-similés de documents.
Le lendemain, le Conseil de gouvernement provisoire confirme ces éléments. AbdulSahib Salman Qutub, porte-parole du ministère du Pétrole, annonce qu'il dévoilera
prochainement une liste plus complète et poursuivra en justice les bandits qui ont spolié le
peuple irakien. Sur la base de cette validation officielle, le quotidien parisien Le Monde
relaye mardi ces imputations tout en reproduisant les démentis de personnalités françaises
mises en cause (édition datée du mercredi). Mercredi, la presse occidentale s'empare de
l'information. Certains journaux états-uniens n'hésitent pas à titrer : "Des documents du
gouvernement irakien : Saddam avait acheté la France".
Pourtant, l'accusation contenue dans cette liste ne résiste pas une minute à la
réflexion: par exemple, le quotidien assure que le député britannique pacifiste George
Galloway a reçu 15 millions de barils de pétrole. Pour les transporter, il aurait fallu que le
parlementaire parvienne à faufiler 7 super-tankers entre les bâtiments de la Coalition angloaméricaine sans se faire remarquer. Et il aurait encore fallu qu'il les écoule secrètement sur
le marché international en violation de l'embargo onusien. Il en est de même pour les
autres accusés.
Le quotidien Dar Al-Mada a été créé à Bagdad en novembre 2003 par le président
du Mouvement pour la paix. Celui-ci, Fakhri Karim, n'est pas un inconnu. Il fut le
responsable de la propagande du Parti communiste irakien. Comme ses camarades, il
s'enfuit en exil pour échapper à la répression de Saddam Hussein. Lors de la première
Guerre du Golfe, en 1991, son parti fut contacté par les services secrets saoudiens qui
entendaient soutenir toute forme d'opposition au raïs. Fakri Karim dirigea la délégation
reçue à Riyad. De retour à Damas, il annonça à ses camarades qu'il avait refusé l'argent de
la monarchie, mais appela néanmoins à soutenir la Coalition et à bombarder son propre
pays. Or, les services saoudiens ne tardèrent pas à se manifester dans l'attente d'un plus
important retour sur investissement. Considéré comme traître, Fakhri Karim fut alors exclu
de son parti. Quelques mois plus tard, soudain riche, il fonda une maison d'édition et un
journal, Dar Al-Mada, à Beyrouth.

Fakhri Karim est revenu à Bagdad, en 2002, dans les bagages de la Coalition.
L'Autorité d'occupation l'a aidé à former le Mouvement de la paix qui rassemble les Irakiens
de retour d'exil, en quête de prébendes US. C'est dans ce vivier que la Coalition puisse,
selon ses besoins, de nouveaux collaborateurs.
Selon nos sources en Irak, la fortune de Fakhri Karim ayant soudain décuplé, il a
acheté divers locaux, importé du matériel, ouvert un quotidien et lancé une chaîne de
télévision par satellite. Pour ce faire, il a bénéficié des encouragements du philanthrope
George Soros, qui lui a offert des rotatives, et de la National Endowment for Democracy,
(NED) – vitrine publique de la CIA – qui a recruté et formé ses journalistes. Le gouverneur
L. Paul Bremer en personne s'est assuré qu'il ne manquait de rien, ni de papier, ni
d'électricité. Tandis que l'ancien patron de La Voix de l'Amérique (organe officiel du
Département d'Etat) s'est déplacé à Bagdad pour lui prodiguer quelques conseils. Dar AlMada est donc un quotidien "indépendant", des Irakiens tout au moins, mais pas de la
Coalition.
Dans de telles conditions, on a du mal à comprendre comment un individu dénué de
toute crédibilité peut intoxiquer la presse occidentale en diffusant des imputations
incohérentes. D'autant que des accusations identiques ont déjà été présentées par le
passé avant d'être démenties. C'est notamment le cas des prétendues largesses
accordées au député britannique George Galloway.
La filière d'intoxication n'est que partiellement connue. D'après nos informations, les
documents initiaux auraient été fabriqués au Royaume-Uni par un cabinet éditant une lettre
financière confidentielle. Ils mêlent en une même liste les négociants autorisés dans le
cadre de l'accord "pétrole contre nourriture", et donc légalement rémunérés de leurs
prestations sous le contrôle du Comité des sanctions de l'ONU, et des groupes ou
personnalités à diffamer. Certains noms ont été ajoutés au hasard pour masquer la logique
du choix des cibles. Toutefois, l'essentiel est de discréditer, directement ou indirectement,
tous ceux qui se sont opposés à la guerre.
Cette liste a été transmise par un "cabinet de relations publiques" à Dar Al-Mana qui
a compris ce que l'on attendait de lui et l'a publiée sans vérification.
Puis, elle a été reprise par un site web arabe, <http://www.elaph.com>, dirigé par une
personnalité connue pour avoir été proche du roi du Maroc, Hassan II. Elle a alors été
traduite en diverses langues et diffusée par l'Institut de recherche sur les médias au
Proche-Orient, <http://www.memri.org/>, une "agence de presse" créée par des officiers de
Tsahal.
L'une des conditions du succès de cette opération est d'avoir choisi quelques cibles
honnies de la presse occidentale qui pouvait ainsi régler ses comptes à peu de frais. Ainsi,
pour atteindre Jacques Chirac, on a pointé du doigt ses amis Patrick Maugein, Charles
Pasqua et Gilles Munier qui, pour des raisons diverses chacun, peuvent indisposer.
Dans 46 pays, des personnes et organisations mises en cause ont publié des
démentis. Aucun indice probant n'a été présenté pour créditer les accusations de Dar AlMada, dont la rédaction se protège derrière le "secret des sources". Rien ne semble devoir
redonner la raison à nos confrères: ils ont cru qu'un avion est entré dans une porte au rezde-chaussée du Pentagone avant de se dématérialiser, puis ils ont cru que Saddam
Hussein menaçait la sécurité des Etats-Unis avec des drones armés d'armes de destruction
massive, aujourd'hui ils croient que les opposants à la guerre étaient tous corrompus.

L'Iraq avant l'invasion, vendait du pétrole dans le cadre du programme "pétrole

à des sociétés suisses, en fait des espions occidentaux qui étaient infiltrés sous couvert
des Nations Unies. Ils contrôlaient les échanges officiels mais ne pouvaient pas empêcher
une certaine contrebande, vers la Syrie et la Jordanie. De vétustes camions-citernes,

Ils cherchaient d'autres compagnies, européennes ou autres, mais non-américaines, pour
écouler le pétrole licite. Pour trouver ces compagnies et faire affaire, légalement, les

Irakiens cherchaient des intermédiaires. Les plus prisés étaient les Russes et les Français,
détenteurs d'importantes parts du marché international et politiquement moins hostiles au
régime que les cinglés de Washington ou Tel-Aviv. Les visiteurs russes, français, et autres
(chinois, japonais) étaient donc parfois approchés: on leur demandait s'ils voulaient jouer
ce rôle d'intermédiaire: trouver des compagnies qui seraient, in fine, agréées par les
Nations Unies (bureau du boycott sis à New York, sous forte influence US). Libre à ce
moment-là, à ces intermédiaires de prélever une commission, comme cela se fait,
normalement, dans le "business".
Les envoyés spéciaux de la Gazette se virent offrir cette possibilité, lors de missions
à Saint Petersbourg et à Baghdad. Il y aurait eu là moyen de financer nos activités. Mais
nous sommes des dilettantes et nous avons choisi depuis longtemps de travailler sans
argent. C'est une formule qui n'est paradoxale qu'en apparence. Mais dont l'effet est clair:
travailler sans argent permet de se mettre à l'abri des pressions et des variations
financières. Nous avons donc décliné ces offres, qui auraient arrangé beaucoup de
monde. Les compagnies françaises étaient d'autant plus prisées à Baghdad, que Saddam
avait pris la décision historique, qui n'a pas peu contribué à déclencher l'invasion
américaine, d'abandonner le dollar et de libeller les ventes de pétrole irakien en euros.
Rappelons qu'en sept ans, l'Iraq a été autorisé à vendre pour 46 milliards de dollars de
produits pétroliers. Ce n'est pas une mince aubaine. (Voir plus bas, comment les Zuhesses
ont mis la main sur le reste du magot, stocké dans une banque française à New York...)
Nous sommes donc en mesure de confirmer qu'il était possible de jouer un rôle
d'intermédiaire sur les marchés pétroliers. Et même, sans doute, sur les marchés
d'importation de biens contrôlés par les Nations Unies. Tout cela était parfaitement légal,
tant du point de vue irakien, que du point de vue de l'insupportable tyrannie des NationsUnies, qui agissait comme marionnette des amères Loques. Mais en même temps, le
document produit par les fripouilles collaborationnistes d'Al Mada, pue la manipulation.
C'est la deuxième fois que des faux fabriqués par l'Intelligence Service s'attaquent à
l'enfant terrible du Parlement anglais, George Galloway, l'ardent défenseur de la cause des
Arabes et du Tiers-Monde. Galloway est une merveille d'éloquence et on comprend que les
blairots aient voulu le faire taire. D'autres personnes cités doivent certainement être mises
hors de cause. Ce document est un mélange de vrai, de faux, de demi-vrai et de
calomnies, bref, il n'est ni fait ni à faire. L'imbécile denainxxx s'est précipité dans le
panneau, à la suite du Monde et du reste de la grande presse de caniveau. Le bureau
d'où est censé provenir ce document avait été complètement pillé à l'arrivée des "sauveurs
blindés"... Huit mois plus tard, il apparaît, regroupant, miraculeusement, toutes sortes
d'informations... De la gueule de qui se fout-on ? Le "ministre" irakien, un simple employé
des occupants, parle de poursuites et de tribunal international ? Quelle plaisanterie !

Army shells pose cancer risk in Iraq

Depleted uranium shells used by British forces in southern Iraqi battlefields are
putting civilians at risk from 'alarmingly high' levels of radioactivity.
Experts are calling for the water and milk being used by locals in Basra to be
monitored after analysis of biological and soil samples from battle zones found 'the highest
number, highest levels and highest concentrations of radioactive source points' in the
Basra suburb of Abu Khasib - the centre of the fiercest battles between UK forces and
Saddam loyalists.
Readings taken from destroyed Iraqi tanks in Basra reveal radiation levels 2,500
times higher than normal. In the surrounding area researchers recorded radioactivity
levels 20 times higher than normal.

Critics of these controversial munitions – used to penetrate tank armour – believe
inhaling the radioactive dust left by the highly combustible weapon causes cancer and birth
defects. It has long been alleged that depleted uranium (DU) used in the first Gulf conflict
was responsible for abnormally high levels of childhood leukaemia and birth defects in Iraq.
Depleted uranium is also believed by some to be a contributing factor in Gulf War
syndrome.
The disclosure comes days after the charity Human Rights Watch claimed hundreds
of 'preventable' deaths of civilians have been caused by the use of cluster bombs by US
and UK forces during the conflict. The latest research, based on a two-week field trip by
scientists, was carried out by the Canadian-based Uranium Medical Research Centre
(UMRC) led by a former US military doctor Asaf Durakovic.
Tedd Weymann, deputy director of UMRC, said: 'At one point the readings were so
high that an alarm on one of my instruments went off telling me to get back. Yet despite
these alarmingly high levels of radiation children play on the tanks or close by.'
The amount of DU used during the Iraq war has not been revealed, although some
estimate it was more than a thousand tons. Last week, Labour MP Llew Smith obtained
from the Ministry of Defence a list of 51 map co-ordinates in Iraq where sites were struck by
DU weapons. France, Spain and Italy claim soldiers who served in Bosnia and Kosovo,
where DU shells were used by Nato, have contracted cancers.
Witnesses told the UMRC that a British Army survey team inspected Abu Khasib. 'The
UK team arrived dressed in white full-body radiation suits with protective facemasks and
gloves. They were accompanied by translators who were ordered to warn residents and
local salvage crews that the tanks in the battlefield are radioactive and must be avoided,'
the report states, adding: 'The British forces have taken no steps to post warnings, seal
tanks and personnel carriers or remove the highly radioactive assets.'
Dr Chris Busby, who is a member of a government committee examining radia tion
risks, expressed concern. 'There is no question that inhaling this radioactive dust can
increase the risk of lymphomas,' he said.
Professor Brian Spratt, who chaired a Royal Society working group on the hazards of
DU, said: 'British and US forces need to acknowledge that DU is a potential hazard and
make inroads into tackling it by being open about where and how much has been
deployed. Fragments of DU penetrators are potentially hazardous, and should be removed,
and areas of contamination around impact sites identified. Impact sites in residential areas
should be a particular priority. Long-term monitoring of water and milk to detect any
increase in uranium levels should also be introduced in Iraq.'
In a statement, the MoD said: 'The allegations made by the UMRC are not
substantiated by credible scientific evidence. They give no activity concentrations of the
material concentrations on the ground or in the air, and their conclusions are not
substantiated by readings taken by MoD's own survey team... The MoD sent a small team
of scientists to Iraq in June to perform a preliminary survey in order to identify issues... and
provide safety advice to scientists in the field. This survey looked at a small number of
locations where tanks had been defeated by DU and found limited contamination at
localised points; the highest contamination was at the point of entry on a defeated tank
and this was fixed to the metal and could not be rubbed off on the skin by touch, much less
inhaled.
'The UMRC appears to consider a small, highly localised area of contamination to
present a large health risk. Use of "worst case" data to calculate risks to the population is
inappropriate.'

The United Nations has effectively handed over control of Iraqi funds it administered
to the US-led occupation force. The world body has transferred $2.6 billion to the Fund for
the Development of Iraq, which is managed by the US-led occupation that spearheaded
the war on Iraq last year and today occupies the country, an official UN source said on
Thursday.
The fund is an evolution of the seven-year-old UN oil-for-food program, whose
functions were transferred to the US-led occupation forces by a UN Security Council
resolution last 22 May. The $2.6 billion transfer, done in the closing hours of 2003, was the
fourth and largest to the fund. One billion was transferred on May 24, a second billion in
October and a third in November.

The oil-for-food programme, set up in 1996, was intended to mitigate the effects of
international sanctions imposed on Iraq after its 1990 invasion of Kuwait, by using UNcontrolled sales of Iraqi oil to buy food and medicine for the civilian population.

Charges Placed In WTC Towers When Built?

(Planned Implosions).
I was working at Kirkwood Commutator in Cleveland, Ohio from 1974 to September
30th, 1998. We had an Industrial/Refill Department that large commutators from 1 foot in
diameter to 20 feet in diameter were made. A commutator is the circular switching device on
an armature shaft that (commutates), switches the electrical current that flows thru the
windings of the armature coils of an electrical motor. It is the thing that the brushes ride on
that the current flows into an electric motor that energizes the field coils that causes the
motor to rotate. The commutator switches the current from coil winding to coil winding that
causes the motor to rotate.
I was the metrologest, gage technician who set and calibrated all the measuring
devices in the plant for over 18 years. We had a team of consultants hired by Otis Elevator
to supervise and inspect all aspects of those commutators we produced for those motors.
That were being made for the largest ever Twin Towers going up in Asia. Otis Elevator had
the elevator contract for providing the elevators. The lead consultant engineer would always
come into my gage calibration lab to watch and inspect my setting up and calibration of
gages for measuring the components we were producing for the assembly of those motors.
Most people who worked in the tool room, screw machine and industrial/refill departments
knew (because they were making the parts) that we were manufacturing 4 or more very
large commutators. But, they did not [know] who the customer was or who they were for. Or

what application they would be used in. Most of the other people in the plant had no
knowledge whatsoever about was being made. All they did was make this part of something
they had prints and shop orders for.
On day, as the lead consultant engineer was in my lab talking just about "stuff", I
asked him, "Sometime in future, in 50 years or so, how are these Twin Towers are going to
be taken down as tall as they were going to be and as tight as land is in a crowded city,
without causing fast destruction to other buildings?"
He was standing upright. He outstretched his right arm with his palm down. And said,
"Bam, bam, bam, bam, bam, bam" as he lowered his hand down one imaginary floor at a
time. All the way down to the floor. I knew that we had to certify these commutators to be
able to operate continuously for 50 years without service or repair as our part of the
contract. He explained that as the buildings are being built, explosive charges are being
incorporated into the structures at key floor joint locations. So, that when the first charges
are set-off at the top floors, they will take that floor down to the next. And the charges at
that floor will take it down to the next floor. This will continue all the way down. The Twin
Towers will come straight down like a stack of pancakes. When the buildings get old and no
longer useful or profitable to have and maintain, all it will take is a phone call to take
them down.
So, you see, Jeff, no one had to sneak into the buildings of the WTC in New York
and plant charges during a terror drill or a practice fire drill. They were already there... built
into the buildings when they were constructed, just waiting for the call to detonate; waiting
for the day when the buildings were no longer profitable to keep and maintain for whatever
economic reasons of their owners and controllers.
The jet airliners crashed into each one on the Twin Towers and, thirty minutes later,
the phone call was made and the first tower was taken down... and then the second tower
was taken down. By the way, the other buildings of the complex were going to be a liability
and no longer of use. So a phone call was made and they went down as well. The
controllers of the building complex of the Twin Towers made 500 million dollars profit.
They did not lose any money. They do not care about people. They only care they have is
their profit margin and bottom-line being as far in the black as they can get it.
This is what happened. The true story. Alex Jones is right about Building 7, but he
should not forget the above in regards to all of buildings in the Twin Tower Complex.
Again, it is my contention and stipulation that when those buildings were being constructed,
shaped charges were set into the joints at key places.... waiting for they day when the
buildings were to be declared obsolete and to be demolished by the powers that be. This
way, they could be taken down... one floor down onto the next... all the way to the ground.
This is also the plan for those highest Twin Towers in the World that are standing in Asia.
What needs to be done is for someone to get the "real" full constructions blue
prints, building plans for those building in question. It may show, in detail, what I have
said about them.

Pentagon says 911 Interceptors flew: Too Far, too slow, too late

It happens all the time. When a small private plane recently entered the 23-mile
restricted ring around the U.S. Capitol, two F-16 interceptors were immediately launched
from Andrews Air Force Base, just 10 miles away. In a similar episode, a pair of F-16
"Fighting Falcons" on 15-minute strip alert was airborne from Andrews just 11 minutes after
being notified by the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) of a Cessna
straying towards the White House. [AP Nov11/03; CNN June20/02]
These were well-practiced routines. With more than 4,500 aircraft continuously
sharing U.S. airspace, between September 2000 and June 2001 the Pentagon launched
fighters on 67 occasions to escort wayward aircraft. [FAA news release Aug/9/02; AP
Aug13/02]
But on Sept 11, 2001, NORAD and the FAA ignored routine procedures and strict
regulations. In response to a national emergency involving hijacked airliners as dangerous
as cruise missiles, interceptors launched late from distant bases flew to defend their nation
at a fraction of their top speeds. [NORAD news release Sept. 18/01]
WHAT NORAD KNEW A recently resurfaced NORAD news bulletin released seven
days after Sept. 11 explains that America's aerial defenders were slow to counter rapidly
developing air attacks because they didn't hear from the FAA that American Airlines Flight
11 had been hijacked until 8:40 that fateful morning. [NORAD news release Sept. 18/01]
But at the National Military Command Center (NMCC) in the basement of the
Pentagon, Air Force staff officers monitoring every inch of airspace over the northeastern
seaboard would have caught that first hijacking when Flight 11's identification transponder
stopped transmitting at 8:20 – automatically triggering a radar alarm.
With their capability to monitor developing "situations" by tapping into military and
civilian radars, U.S. military commanders would have also seen Flight 175 turn abruptly
south 25 minutes later – just as they had watched on radar in October 1999 when pro
golfer Payne Stewart's Learjet abruptly departed its flight path while enroute o Dallas. [CNN

In that legendary intercept, a fighter jet out of Tyndall, Florida was diverted from a
training flight to escort the Lear, whose pilot had become incapacitated, trapping Stewart in
the stratosphere. An F-16 was reportedly sitting off the left wingtip of Payne's pilotless
business jet within 19 minutes of the FAA alert. [ABC News Oct25/99]
If NORAD had been as quick to scramble or divert airborne fighters on Sept. 11, two
"anti-terrorist" F-15's on armed alert could have been sent south from Otis Air Force Base
on Cape Cod. Flying at full afterburners without edging over the Atlantic to disperse their
sonic footprint, two of the fastest fighters on the planet would have broken a few windows.
But all the glass in the Twin Towers might have stayed intact had the "fast-movers"
intercepted Flight 11 over the Hudson Rive at least six minutes from Manhattan.
NO HURRY SAYS NORAD Instead, in a stunning admission that received little press
scrutiny at the time, NORAD noted that for all interceptions flown against the hijackers on
Sept. 11, "Flight times are calculated at 9 miles per minute or .9 Mach." In other words,

every interception flown by the world's hottest air-combat aircraft was flown at less than a
third of the planes' top speed.
A Defense Department manual insists, "In the event of a hijacking, the NMCC will be
notified by the most expeditious means by the FAA." To make this happen, the Federal
Aviation Administration permanently posts a liaison officer in the Pentagon air defense

Yet, according to NORAD, after air traffic controllers realized that Flight 11 had been
hijacked, 38 vital minutes passed before a pair of F-15's were scrambled from Otis. As they
lifted off, American Airlines Flight 11 struck the North Tower of the World Trade Center, 153
air miles away as a Falcon flies. [NORAD Sept. 18/01]
United Airlines Flight 175 was still 20 minutes out.
"The F-15 pilots flew ''like a scalded ape, topping 500 mph but were unable to catch
up to the airliner," Maj. Gen. Paul Weaver later told reporters. [St. Augustine Times
Sept16/01]
Scalded apes? Airliners fly at 500 mph. An F-15 can fly almost four-times faster.
STEP ON IT One of the Otis intercept pilots dubbed "Duff", later lamented: "We've
been over the flight a thousand times in our minds and I don't know what we could have
done to get there any quicker."
For starters, he and his wingman could have tried pushing their twin throttles fully
forward. Instead of flying two-and-a-half times faster than a bullet, "Nasty" and "Duff" drove
their expensive air superiority fighters at a leisurely 447-mph - supposedly to intercept a
Boeing 767 flying 43 mph faster! Utilizing only 27% power, the F-15's were "eight
minutes/71 miles" away, according to NORAD, when Flight 175 struck the South Tower with
56 souls and more than ten tons of fuel onboard. [Christian Science Monitor Mar8/02]
HONOR THE THREAT With both Trade Towers burning, and hijacked United Flight
93 shadowed by a circling F-16 over Pennsylvania, American Airlines Flight 77 was the only
threat left in the sky. When that Boeing 757 silenced its transponder signal, made a U-turn
over Kentucky and headed directly for the White House and the Pentagon, one billion
viewers riveted to the big networks knew this was a kamikaze run. [Telegraph Sept13/01]
With no other bogeys on eastern seaboard scopes, air combat doctrine dictates that
the two unemployed Otis F-15s already in the area be redirected to "honor the threat" of an
incoming flying bomb, 330 miles out. Even loafing along, the fighters would have more than
20 minutes to confront Flight 77 before it neared the Pentagon.
Instead, Pentagon professionals defending their country's nerve centers waited more
than an hour after watching Flight 11 go rogue - including 30 critical minutes after Flight 77
turned abruptly toward them and the nearby White House - before scrambling two F-16's
out of Langley Air Force Base to protect the capitol.
Nearly half-an-hour after receiving the belated order to scramble, two Falcons
coasted in over the burning Pentagon. Slowed down to just 410 mph, it had taken the
1,500 mph-capable fighters 19 minutes to cover the 130 miles from Virginia. It should have
taken just over seven minutes to reach the Pentagon - at about the time Flight 77 was
making a predatory circle overhead. [NORAD Sept18/01; USAF]
GROUNDED The supersonic jets were flown no faster than WWII prop-driven fighters.
But it hardly mattered. Sitting on the Andrews ramp just 10 miles away, were two fully armed
and fueled supersonic interceptors tasked with protecting the capitol from airborne terrorist
threats on 15 minutes' notice!
Isn't it about time someone asked why those routinely launched Andrews interceptors
were "stood down" as Flight 77 bored in toward the headquarters they were supposed to

In the most heavily armed nation on Earth, at least two-dozen air force installations
were within fast flying time of the World Trade Center and Pentagon. Does anyone else
wonder why none of those aircraft were ordered launched - or why none of the armed
fighters on training flights or patrolling Air Defense Intercept Zones just off the Atlantic
Coast were diverted to intercept four commandeered airliners until after the Pentagon was
struck - one-hour and

REWARDED FOR INCOMPETENCE Responding to questions from a Senate
confirmation committee two days after this suspicious fiasco, the Joint Chief's acting air
defense chief on Sept. 11 said he was in a meeting while all hell was breaking loose in his
sector.
Air Force Gen. Richard Myers had not let a TV report about a small plane hitting the
World Trade Center interrupt his routine. As jumbo jetliners kept diving into buildings,
apparently no one thought to inform the acting commander of U.S. air defenses that his
country was under attack. Myers said he came out of his meeting just as the Pentagon was
hit.
Asked repeatedly when the brass were first informed of the emergency, and when
interceptors were scrambled, Myers repeated a muddled mantra six times, saying ""I'll have
to get back to you on that."

Instead of being court-martialed like the luckless commanders defending Pearl
Harbor, or even reprimanded, General Myers was awarded command of the entire U.S.
military as new chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Bush publicly commended the air force
general for his "calm manner, sound judgment, and his clear strategic thinking." [White

As this bizarre and possibly treasonous story goes to press, the FAA has refused to
disclose documents relating to when that agency notified U.S. air defenses about the four
hijacked airliners. A second subpoena served on the Pentagon by the National Commission
on Terrorist Attacks Upon the United States has been similarly unsuccessful in attaining
records concerning whether NORAD responded quickly enough in dispatching interceptors
on Sept. 11. [Washington Post Nov8/03]
Instead of fingering air traffic controllers for not following procedures, these
documents could show that the FAA did follow its own Standard Intercept Procedures and
notify NORAD within a few minutes of each hijacking - which would leave the Air Force with

The other side of radical Islam

Karachi - In the wake of last month's two terror attacks in Istanbul, and Western
intelligence reports that European cities could be the next targets, a new round of
crackdowns to weed out Islamic radicals has begun in a number of countries, in particular
Britain, France, Italy and Germany.

At the same time, the agenda of these radicals has once again come into focus: it is
widely seen in the West as a threat to the Western secular system and civil society.
Intelligence agencies in the respective countries trying to combat these terror rings
call the "war" a very difficult one as the suspects are not aliens, rather, their ideas are
considered alien in the societies in which they live, even though, in most cases, they are
sons of the soil. Most are educated and often come from well-to-do families, yet they have
adopted an extremist path that others believe will take society back thousands of years.
However, the concept of radical Islam, as understood in the West, differs somewhat
from what is generally perceived in the Muslim world. To find out more, Asia Times Online
spoke with the central general secretary of the Jamaat-i-Islami Pakistan (JI), Syed Munawar
Hasan.
The fundamentalist JI is the largest of Pakistan's religious parties and the writings of
its founder in 1941, Syed Abul Ala Maududi, have greatly influenced the lives of millions of
Muslims across the globe, including people such as Dr Ali Shariati (an ideologue of the
Iranian revolutionary movement), Imam Ruhollah Khomeini - the leader of that revolution in
1979, Syed Qutub (an ideologue of the Muslim Brotherhood), and even statesmen such as
King Faisal of Saudi Arabia.
The JI is an important constituent of the Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA), an alliance
of six religious parties that scored unprecedented electoral success in last year's November
national polls.
In his early student days, Munawar, now 59, was president of the socialist left-wing
National Student Federation, but he subsequently underwent an ideological u-turn and
joined the Islami Jamiat-i-Talaba, the JI's student wing, and soon rose to the position of
president. He has masters' degrees in sociology and Islamic studies, and earned a
reputation at Karachi University as a star debater, both in English and Urdu.
Sitting in the JI's head office in Karachi, Munawar discussed his views on radical
Islamists, immediately setting the scene by saying that he refused to "play on Western
wickets", inferring that the West devised its own misconceptions and then beat the drum on
them.
"The situation has always been misunderstood as far as Muslim radicals are
concerned, right from the beginning," said Munawar. "The problem lies with US propaganda
machinery, which has a modus operadi under which it establishes its own theories which in
fact do not exist in reality, and then projects these to misguide people."
"For instance, al-Qaeda. I have never heard [the US use] this name before
September 11, nor anybody else. But after the Twin Tower [September 11] incident took
place, the US projected this name and associated so many myths with this organization. In
fact, the whole picture was prepared so beautifully that all struggles for Muslim causes,
including Palestine and Kashmir, were automatically painted as terror activities. A
Palestinian throwing a stone at an Israeli occupying force is considered as terror, not the
Israeli gunship helicopter that fires indiscriminate missiles on the civilian population.
"It is openly demanded by Israeli Prime Minister [Ariel Sharon] that an elected
representative of the Palestinians, Yasser Arafat, be overthrown and sent into exile.
Nobody speaks a word, even when the whole Israeli cabinet states that they would like to
kill Arafat. Palestinian fighters struggling for freedom are termed by the West as terrorists,
not the Israelis.
"So, these are all concepts defined by West. I ask them to please define the word
'terror'. If merely using militancy in the course of a freedom struggle can be termed terror,
what about George Washington, whom England termed a terrorist for using militant means?
And how does one define the process under which the US supplied arms and logistical
support to Catholic Irish 'freedom fighters'?"
Asia Times Online poses the question, though: "But generally there is a perception in
the West that these struggles are not meant for freedom; instead, the recent radical face of
these struggles aims to eliminate civil societies, liberties and human rights."
Munawar responds: "Western civilization is based on falsehoods and denials of the
basic truth. In the past, Jews were victimized by Western nations, not Muslims, and when
they were victimized in the West they only received protection in Muslim societies. Jews
were never allowed to visit their holy places under Christian rule, while Muslims always
allowed them to visit their holy places in Palestine. These are the basic truths of history. On
the contrary, the West raises the slogans of civil society and human rights and then attacks

nations without United Nations resolutions because under the UN mandate it would have to
adhere to many principles and would not be able to unleash such brutalities.
"Have you read the so-called road map for peace in the Middle East? In such a
lengthy paper many things are discussed, but you will not find words such as 'human rights'
and 'international law' because it is international law which says that if any population is
forced to leave its houses, they will be helped and rehabilitated. So as I said, the West
always sets a world of beautiful words and terms, but only when they suit its interests."
Asia Times Online then says: "Nobody denies a struggle for the right of self
determination for a people, but I am afraid that terror methods are a problem in this regard."
To which Munawar retorts: "I am afraid, too, that it would be too dangerous to
analyze politics and terrorism separately. Today, terrorism is a reaction to US policies. When
Sharon says 'to hell with the UN' and the Israeli cabinet proclaims that they can kill Arafat, it
is okay and no one has a problem, but a freedom fighter throws a stone or does more for
his right of determination and he is a terrorist."
ATol: "You reckon that there are so many contradictions between the West and the
Muslim world, is there any chance of reconciliation and dialogue between the two
civilizations?"
Munawar: "There is none. The basic concepts of both civilizations are in total contrast
with each other. When I say this I do not address Western civilization as Christianity. I
speak of a man-made system completely devoid of divine guidance. Our concepts of God,
human beings, the universe, are totally in contrast with the concepts of the Western world.
We cannot segregate human lives into private and public, our lives are ruled by divine
guidance, not by man-made rules based on his own prejudices and specific mindset
characterized by its own dilemmas and shortcomings. Our concept of the universe is not
materialistic, and the result of an 'accident'. Instead, it was a very well thought out process
envisaged by the creator of the universe with a plan. So these basic concepts have made
the difference between ours and Western approaches."
ATol: "But don't you believe Western civilization with its secular system gives more
liberties to its citizens to practice their religion and live their lives with more tolerance?"
Munawar: "Just study these secular societies. They are not as liberal as they are
projected. You will find a clear seal on their secular notions. Indian secularism is Hindu
secularism, you will find clear notions of Hindutva [nationalist ideology] theories in it.
Similarly, Western secularism is clearly Christian secularism. In the 26 months after
September 11, not a single Christian has been declared a terrorist. In Western societies,
one has to be a Muslim before one can be declared a terrorist. And take the case of
Timothy [McVeigh, executed on June 11, 2001 for bombing the Oklahoma City federal
building in which 168 people died]. Initially that incident was blamed on Muslims. Before he
was sentenced to death, when the judge asked him to condemn his act of terror, Timothy
repeatedly insisted that what he did was against the tyrannical system of the US, and that if
he had another chance he would do so again. These kind of non-Muslim element in US
society is never projected. Similarly, you may remember the anthrax threat. It started soon
after September 11, and silently ended. What was it about? I think it was again a ploy of
the US administration to secure mass support for its greater imperialistic global designs."
ATol: "Sir, there is a belief that the views you are expressing represent a particular
school of thought in Muslim societies, which is extremist. For instance, there are Salafis
(Wahhabis) and there are Sufis (mystics). Sufi Islam does not say what you are saying."
Munawar: "These are Western projected theories and I am not going to buy them.
Actually, the West always cleverly dishes out ideas that suit it at a certain point in time. For
instance, I have seen papers produced by US think tanks saying that Islamic movements
should be allowed to contest elections and be part of the establishment. In this way they
thought that the movements would be diluted and that they would be discredited by not
being able to govern. However, when they saw that the Muslim groups were quite capable
of handling affairs, they then term us extremists and they oppose the transfer of
governments in many places, even though it was done democratically. Now again I ask,
please define 'extremism'. In my opinion, someone who violates the rules is extremist. Now
take a look and see who violates the rules. The West is the champion of civil society, and
yet it is the biggest supporter of monarchies and dictatorships. At the funeral of King
Hussain of Jordan, five former US presidents were present. Their presence was simply a
message, 'The king is dead, long live the new king'. The West does not have objections to
political suppression in Egypt, and does not see as extremism what the government is

doing to suppress political opponents. So I think a definition of extremism should be
reviewed, and then we will see who is extremist and who abides by the rules.
"As far as Salafi and Sufi Islam is concerned, it is again a foolish theory devised by
the West. The West has to target Saudi Arabia [birthplace of Osama bin Laden and 15 of
the 19 September 11 hijackers], and where Salafi Islam is strong], so it has devised this
theory and spread it through the media. Since our rulers are those people who do not
understand society, they blindly follow these tricks and get adverse results, because in fact
this is not the case. For instance, 99 percent of the Sunni population in Pakistan is Hanafis.
There are a small number who claim to be Salafis. The Salafi people in Pakistan we came
to know through their emphasis on a few petty issues, like the length of a beard, the
pattern of clothing and the way in which to pray. Yet the US projected them as the most
dangerous creed on earth. These views were reported in Pakistan. So Pakistanis who were
not Salafis at all, began to view Salafi Islam as an anti-US brand, and they really took an
interest, and the numbers of those who claim now to be Salafis has grown. So in fact, it is
antagonism towards America which has changed things, not anything else."

LIBERTY, LE BATEAU.
Des fusées, du napalm, des torpilles et des gros mensonges :
L'attaque israélienne contre le USS Liberty, revisitée

Au début du mois de juin 1967, à la veille de la guerre des Six Jours, le Pentagone
envoya le navire de guerre USS Liberty, depuis l'Espagne, vers les eaux internationales au
large de la côte de Gaza, afin de surveiller les développements de l'attaque d'Israël contre
les pays arabes. Le Liberty était un navire de surveillance, muni (seulement) d'artillerie
légère.
Quelques heures seulement après le début de sa présence dans les dites eaux, le
Liberty fut repéré par l'armée israélienne qui envoya des avions de reconnaissance afin
d'identifier le bâtiment. Ils effectuèrent huit navettes en l'espace de trois heures. Le Liberty
arborait un grand drapeau américain et, pour un oil averti, sa silhouette de bâtiment de
guerre américain ne laissait aucun doute quant à sa nationalité.
Quelques heures après les premiers avions, d'autres arrivèrent. Il s'agissait cette fois
d'avions de chasse israéliens du type Mirage III [Made in France, tout chauds des usines
de Marcel Dassault, ndt], armés de missiles et de mitrailleuses. Tandis que des officiers
américains en repos prenaient le soleil sur le pont, les Mirage ouvrirent le feu sur le bateau
américain non armé, lançant des volées de missiles et de rafales de mitrailleuses.
Quelques minutes après, une deuxième vague d'avions de chasse survolèrent le
bateau : des Mystère, de fabrication française [again ! Ndt], qui non seulement ratissèrent
le navire de leurs tirs de mitrailleuses, mais lancèrent des petites bombes au napalm,
tartinant généreusement le pont de gelée enflammée. En quelques secondes, le Liberty
était en flammes, et des dizaines d'hommes de l'US Navy avaient été tués ou blessés, à
l'exception de quelques officiers supérieurs.
L'équipe radio du Liberty tenta de lancer des appels de détresse, mais elle ne lui
fallut pas plus de quelques secondes pour réaliser que ses fréquences étaient brouillées
par les avions israéliens, au moyen de ce que les spécialistes appellent un , ce qui signifie,
dans la langue de Molière : . Enfin, un canal non brouillé fut trouvé et le Liberty put émettre
un message indiquant qu'il était sous un feu nourri, message qui fut capté par un énorme
porte-avion de la Sixième Flotte (américaine), l'USS America. Deux F-4 s'élancèrent des
pistes de ce porte-avion afin de se porter au secours du Liberty. Apparemment, ces avions
n'étaient armés de bombes nucléaires. Lorsque l'information parvint au Pentagone, le
secrétaire à la Défense Robert McNamara entra dans une des colères dont il avait le
secret, et il donna l'ordre aux jets de rentrer maison ". elle, et que ça saute ! ", hurla-t-il.
Les injonctions de McNamara furent répercutées en un langage moins châtié par l'Amiral
David L. McDonald, chef des opérations navales : coucous sur votre pont, et vous leur
dites de se tenir à carreau ! ". Les avions firent donc demi-tour. Et l'attaque contre le
Liberty se poursuivit.

Après que les avions de combat israéliens eurent déversé leur cargaison mortelle,
trois corvettes armées israéliennes s'approchèrent du Liberty. Deux torpilles furent tirées sur
le navire qui ressemblait déjà à une crêpe bretonne. L'une d'entre elles creusa un trou de
trois mètres de diamètre dans la coque, ce qui causa l'ennoyage immédiat des
compartiments situés au-dessous de la ligne de flottaison, tout en causant la mort d'une
douzaine de marins américains supplémentaires.
Tandis que le Liberty prenait du gîte sur une mer agitée, le pont en flammes, des
membres de l'équipage lançaient des canots de sauvetage à l'eau et s'apprêtaient à
saborder le navire. En raison du nombre très élevé de blessés, l'opération s'annonçait très
risquée. Mais, très rapidement, elle s'avéra impossible, car les vedettes israéliennes
d'attaque se mirent à coudre à la machine les canots de sauvetage avec leurs
mitrailleuses. Personne ne pourrait avoir la vie sauve de ce côté-là.
Après plus de deux heures d'attaques irrémissibles, les Israéliens décidèrent que les
marins américains devaient avoir eu leur dose. L'un des torpilleurs se rapprocha du Liberty.
Un officier israélien demanda, en anglais, par porte-voix :
Le commandant du Liberty,
blessé, Lieutenant William McGonagle [non : pas Goldnadel. Ndt] donna instruction au
quartier-maître de répondre avec autant d'emphase qu'il le pouvait : . Le bateau israélien
manœuvra et s'éloigna.
Un destroyer soviétique répondit à l'appel de détresse avant la marine américaine,
bien qu'un sous-marin américain, en mission secrète, se trouvât sans doute dans les
parages et avait suivi l'attaque israélienne depuis le début. Le navire soviétique atteignit le
Liberty six heures avant le navire américain USS Davis. Le capitaine du navire soviétique
offrit son aide, mais l'officier pilote du Liberty déclina son offre.
Finalement, seize heures après le début de l'agression, deux destroyers américains
parvinrent dans les parages du Liberty. Déjà, 34 marins étaient décédés et 174 étaient
blessés, dont beaucoup dans un état très grave. Tandis qu'on évacuait les blessés, un
officier du Bureau des Renseignements de la Marine Militaire [Office of Naval Intelligence]
donna aux hommes l'ordre de ne pas parler de leur calvaire à la presse.
Le lendemain matin, Israël lançait son invasion surprise de la Syrie, violant le dernier
accord de cessez-le-feu et s'emparant des hauts plateaux du Golan. En trois semaines, la
marine américaine mit au point un rapport de sept cents pages, qui exonère les Israéliens,
affirmant que l'attaque a été purement accidentelle et que les Israéliens se seraient retirés
immédiatement après avoir pris conscience de leur erreur. Le secrétaire à la Défense de
l'époque, McNamara, suggéra que l'on oubliât toute cette (pénible) affaire. , conclut-il.

Dans Assaut sur le Liberty [Assault on the Liberty], un récit de première main de
James Ennes Jr. à faire se dresser les cheveux sur la tête, la version des événements
présentée par McNamara est dénoncée pour ce qu'elle est: une grosse embrouille, aussi
mensongère que les bobards de l'époque au sujet du Vietnam. L'ouvrage de Ennes
provoqua une tempête médiatique à l'occasion de sa première publication par Random
House, en 1980, comportant notamment [comme il fallait s'y attendre] des accusations de
mensonge et d'antisémitisme. Néanmoins, le livre se vendit à plus de 40.000 exemplaires.
Mais il ne fut pas réédité. Aujourd'hui, Ennes publie une version mise à jour, qui comporte
de nouvelles preuves supplémentaires, si besoin était, du caractère délibéré de l'agression
israélienne et du fait que le gouvernement américain a déployé des prodiges de
manipulation afin de tenter de cacher la vérité.
C'est un grand roman d'agression israélienne, d'incompétence pentagonale, de
mensonges officiels et de maquillage des faits, qui continue encore aujourd'hui. Le livre tire
une grande force du caractère immédiat du récit de première main fait par Ennes de
l'attaque elle-même, mais aussi des manipes qui s'en suivirent. Aujourd'hui, trente-cinq ans
après, Ennes nous avertit que le bain de sang à bord du Liberty et ses conséquences
devraient servir d'avertissement tragique au sujet des liens toujours aussi fusionnels entre
les gouvernements américain et israélien.
Attaque Contre le Liberty est le genre de livres qui vous font bouillir les sangs de
colère. Ennes documente avec art la vie du marin moyen sur l'un des vaisseaux les plus
originaux de toute la marine de guerre américaine, avec une attention apportée aux
moindres détails. Après tout, cela se passait en 1967, et la majorité des hommes du Liberty
étaient certainement heureux de servir sur un navire non-combattant, au milieu de la

d'entrer dans une sorte de routine quand son bateau flambant neuf fut réduit en charpie
devant ses yeux.
Ennes a rejoint le Liberty en mai 1967, en tant qu'Officier du matériel électronique.
Cela semblait le tremplin assuré vers un avancement de carrière. La routine ordinaire du
Liberty consistait à longer la côte africaine, et à braquer ses grandes oreilles indiscrètes
afin d'espionner le trafic électronique dans la région. Le Liberty avait à peine rejoint la côte
africaine lorsqu'il reçut un message urgent de l'état-major général, lui ordonnant de mettre
le cap, depuis la Côte d'Ivoire vers la Méditerranée, où il devait se repositionner au large de
la côte du Sinaï afin de surveiller l'attaque israélienne contre l'Egypte et les pays arabes
coalisés.
La guerre s'intensifiant, le Liberty envoya une requête à l'état-major de la marine
afin de requérir une escorte. Celle-ci lui fut refusée par l'Amiral William Martin. Le Liberty
continua, non escorté, jusqu'à une position située dans les eaux internationales, à environ
13 miles marins au large d'Al-Arish, ville égyptienne soumise alors à des bombardements
intensifs de l'armée israélienne.
Le 6 juin, la coordination des chefs d'état-major envoya à l'Amiral McCain, père du
sénateur de l'Arizona du même nom, un message urgent lui donnant l'ordre de faire sortir le
Liberty de la zone de risques jusqu'à une position située à un minimum de cent miles
marins de la côte de Gaza. McCain n'a jamais transmis ce message au navire. Peu après
sept heures du matin, le 8 juin, Ennes monta sur le pont du Liberty afin de prendre son
quart. On lui dit qu'une heure auparavant, un avait survolé le navire à basse altitude
[l'engin allait être identifié plus tard comme un Noratlas Nord 2501 bimoteur]. Ennes
raconte qu'il a remarqué alors que le drapeau américain du navire était souillé de suie, et
qu'il a ordonné qu'on lève un nouveau drapeau en haut du mat. Le temps était clair et
calme, une légère brise soufflait.
A neuf heures, Ennes repéra un autre avion de reconnaissance, qui décrivit des
cercles au-dessus du Liberty. Une heure après, deux avions israéliens frôlèrent le bâtiment.
Durant les quatre heures suivantes, des avions israéliens survolèrent le Liberty à quatre
nouvelles reprises. Au moment de l'attaque du premier avion de chasse, un peu avant
deux heures de l'après-midi, Ennes observait le ciel, depuis le côté tribord du pont, il avait
ses jumelles à la main. Un missile frappa le navire juste au-dessous de l'endroit où Ennes
se trouvait : les éclats découpèrent en lanières les hommes qui étaient à côté de lui.
Après l'explosion, il remarqua qu'il était le seul à être resté debout. Mais il avait été,
lui aussi, atteint par plus de vingt éclats de shrapnel, et le souffle de l'explosion lui avait fait
éclater la jambe gauche. Tandis qu'il rampait en direction du poste de pilotage, un
deuxième avion d'assaut passa comme un éclair juste au-dessus d'eux, et il lâcha son
chargement de bombes sur le Liberty estropié. A ce moment-là, Ennes dit que l'équipage
du Liberty n'avait aucune idée de la nationalité de l'assaillant, ni de la raison de l'attaque.
Durant quelques instants, ils soupçonnèrent qu'il pouvait s'agir de Soviétiques, après qu'un
officier eut cru reconnaître, par erreur, des Mig-15 dans les avions agresseurs. Ils savaient
que l'aviation égyptienne avait d'ores et déjà été totalement décimée par les bombardiers
israéliens. L'idée que les Israéliens pussent les attaquer ne leur traversa pas l'esprit jusqu'à
ce qu'un membre de l'équipage aperçût une Etoile de David sur l'aile de l'un des Mystères
de construction française.
Enfin, on emmena Ennes sous le pont, où un hôpital de fortune avait été organisé
en toute hâte, avec d'autres hommes blessés. C'était tout, sauf un havre sûr. Tandis
qu'Ennes, se tordant de douleur, gardait suffisamment de conscience pour être en proie à
la hantise que les os fracturés de sa jambe n'entaillassent son artère fémorale et qu'il ne
connût la triste fin d'un cochon saigné à blanc, le Liberty continuait à être pilonné de
missiles, de tirs de mitrailleuse, le tout, couronné par le bouquet : une torpille de fabrication
italienne, chargée de 1 000 livres d'explosif.
L'attaque interminable ayant pris fin, un ami d'Ennes vint le voir, Pat O'Malley, un
jeune officier, qui venait juste d'envoyer une liste des tués et des blessés au Bureau du
Personnel de la Marine. Il avait reçu immédiatement un message en retour. blessés dans
quelle action ? Tués dans quelle action ? ", rapporta O'Malley à Ennes. "Un accident,
qu'ils disaient. J'aimerais qu'ils viennent voir par ici : je leur montrerais ce que c'est, la
différence entre une action et un accident, à ces connards ! ".

LA MOULINETTE SIONISTE
Si l'on voulait se représenter physiquement ce que le Père Ubu appelait une
"machine à décerveler", on pourrait utilement se référer à une sorte de virus furieux qui est
apparu sur nos ordinateurs: une attaque d'une rare violence contre le MRAP et ses
supposés alliés et acolytes. Cet objet, qui fait environ 120 pages avec de nombreuses
illustrations, n'est ni titré ni signé. Un "mouvement des maghrébins laïques", totalement
inconnu et inexistant, serait un co-rédacteur, ainsi que "des enseignants". De par ses
thèmes et son ton, on voit qu'il vient de la centrale israélienne qui est chargée de défendre
la politique génocidaire, qui se trouve le dos au mur. On avait vu fleurir il y a deux ans une
foule de sites d'extrême droite qui avaient comme visée particulière de dénoncer les
antiracistes et les antisionistes. Et puis le flan était retombé. On assiste à une nouvelle
floraison de sites qui cherchent tous à censurer les termes qu'Israël juge inacceptables, à
encadre et reformater les comptes rendus journalistiques, à diviser les adversaires de
l'expansionnisme de l'entité sioniste, et à culpabiliser les critiques.

Monsieur Bleu a signé une pétition contre la capture des papillons, qui a été signée, entre
autres, par Monsieur Rouge. Or, il se trouve que M. Rouge a publié un récite de voyage sur
un site fréquenté par M. Noir, qui y a publié quelques e-mails concernant les risques de la
natation dans des piscines non surveillées. Or M. Noir a pris position, il y a 25 ans, contre la
libéralisation de l'avortement. ce qui rend aussitôt M. Bleu complice des activités
antiféministes de l'intégrisme des born again du Texas profond. M. Bleu devrait être chassé
de son travail de gardien de nuit, traduit en justice et jeté dans un cul-de-basse-fosse.
Voilà comment ils travaillent: ils mélangent tout, ce qui est important et ce qui ne l'est
pas, les prises de position des uns et des autres, les sites du web, avec toute leur diversité
interne, les noms qui servent d'épouvantails (Tariq Ramadan, Roger Gauraudy, Serge
Thion) et ils passent tout ça à la moulinette, qui sert de machine à décerveler. Le résultat

Les principaux points que révèle cette enquête :
* Liens ambigus entre le MRAP et les milieux islamistes.
* Le rapport révèle que les partenaires cachés du MRAP appartiennent à plusieurs
