Château Péby Faugères 2004: Tasting Notes
Summer 2010 – Tasted – Andreas Larsson
Aromatically the wine still appears rather young, some roasted notes,
vanilla and dark berries, the palate is surprisingly concentrated for the
vintage, still a bit backward with present tannins, however, it just needs
time and shows an overall harmony and great potential, very long
aftertaste.

92/100
The 2004 Péby Faugères, is fashioned from the oldest slopes with the
finest exposure (45-year-old, 100% Merlot vines). A blockbuster for the
vintage, it boasts a dense ruby/purple color along with notes of
graphite, black currants, blackberries, sweet cherry liqueur, toasty oak,
and licorice. Dense, full-bodied, and powerful with elevated tannins as
well as enough extravagant fruit and richness for balance, it will benefit
from 2-3 years of bottle age, and should keep for two decades. Drink
2009-2027.
March 31, 2007 – Wine Spectator – James Suckling
91/100
Dark ruby in color, with fabulously rich aromas of blackberry, dark
chocolate and violet. Full-bodied, with velvety tannins and a long,
caressing finish. Needs a bit more midpalate, but still very pretty. Best
after 2009.
20/08/2005 – Financial Times – Andrew Jefford
Lively, cherry scents and smoky, sumptuous flavours. Without excessive
textural drapes, and stamped with the appealing freshness of 2004.
June/July 2005 - Gaultmillau magazine
90/100 - Libournais – La magie du terroir – millésime 2004
Very deep crimson-violet. Intense nose of blackberry and wood.
Massive, powerful and tight, it is a full bodied wine. You will have to be
patient, but it will turn into a suave bottle.
May 2005 – Vinifera – Jacques Perrin
Grand Vin **** - (90)
With a very dense colour, it combines notes of fruit, spices and balsam in
the nose. Very pure aromatic expression. Good density on the palate
with fruit in the attack, and a finish offering magnificent tannins.
However, it lacks a little continuity between the attack and the finish.
18 April 2005 - Bettane & Desseauve Tastpro

For her last vintage, Corinne Guisez has come up with the goods: the
wine is magnificently made, with very firm, complex tannins ensuring it
will age well. Better-quality than half the crus classés.

Lovely vibrant nose, full of healthy fruit. Really stunning. Glorious fruit
married to very wise winemaking. Jumps out of the glass at you. Drink
2010-2020.

seiner vollen Reife. trinken ( - 2028)
