A. The English word “the” is called the “definite article.” It is used before nouns when referring to a particular
person, place, thing, or idea. The English definite article does not change in the plural and we do not have
different forms of it. We learned last year that nouns in German are gendered. Take a look at the sentences below
and circle the definite articles in each sentence.
