RECOGNIZED AS AN ALTERNATIVE TO THE BOCCOBI EXAM
AND CONVERSION TABLE RESULT/GRADE OUT OF THIRTY
Combined Bachelor and Master of Science in Law (CLMG) - Master of Science - Bachelor programs
Methods of assessing foreign language knowledge: international certification from among those recognized by the University, or Bocconi exam.
The following is a summary of the certificates recognized in various cases, the conversion of their results into a grade out of thirty (in order to adapt them to the Italian grading system) and registration procedures in students’ academic career.

Introduction
An international certificate can be accepted as an alternative to the internal exam only if it meets the following conditions:
•
It is one of those recognized by the University;
•
It shows the exit level and language contents (general, business, legal) corresponding to those as contained in the syllabus of the student’s degree course;
•
the exam has been taken not more than three years prior to the presentation of the certificate at the Language Centre Administrative Office, Segreteria - Centro Linguistico (only the TOEFL must be presented within two years after passing the exam);
•
It is presented as an original by the student in person, together with University student identity card, at the Language Center Administrative Office.
Minimum exit levels
Below are the minimum exit levels for foreign languages:

Students choosing English as their first foreign language must
exit at C1 level; if they choose French, Portuguese, Spanish or
German the exit level is B2.
Program contents
The type of language skills required for the exam differs according to the degree course and academic code:
•
general in the undergraduate courses and the general English exams of the first foreign language in Combined Bachelor and Master of Science program in Law;
•
business in the Master’s degree courses (excluding Law);
•
legal in the Master’s Law degree courses and the legal English exam of the first foreign language in Combined Bachelor and Master of Science program in Law.
The second foreign language is optional in Combined Bachelor and Master of Science program in Law (students enrolled until a.y. 2012-2013) and in Master of Science program in Law: courses and exams are taken from the general language program for
Combined Bachelor and from the business language program for Master’s courses in Law. The second foreign language is compulsory in Combined Bachelor and Master of Science program in Law (students enrolled from a.y. 2013-2014) and the courses are
focused on the language for academic purposes.
Please note also that:
•
regarding all undergraduate courses and the CLMG, in substitution of the foreign language exams (general language), international certificates pertaining to the respective specialisation areas (economics or law) are also recognized
•
for the Master’s degree, general English certificates are also recognized if they are at C1 or C2 level.
Foreign languages as additional exams
Also foreign languages can be recorded as additional exams. With reference to the additional curricular languages it is specified that:
•
the same rules which are valid for additional exams are applied (see Guide to the University, Additional courses)
•
the recording of the grade is in accordance with the same methods for the recognition and recording valid for the first and second foreign language (see Guide to the University, Method of assessing foreign language knowledge, International
certifications);
•
the minimum exit level and linguistic field specified for second language (see Guide to the University Exit levels).
In addition students can record in their study plan, only as an additional course, also Chinese and Russian (non curricular languages). For the recording of Chinese and Russian it is specified that:
•
the same rules valid for all additional exams (see Guide to the University, Additional exams) are applied;
•
it is only possible to record an international certification from among the ones recognized by the University in accordance with the same methods for recognition and recording valid for curricular languages (see Guide to the University, Language choice
procedures, International certifications).
