The project will provide a reliable connection of both countries' electrical grids, improving the use of generation resources in the area. The total value of the project is worth approximately $450 million. Siemens will build the 1,000-kilometer power line that will transmit 2,000 megawatts of hydropower from Ethiopia to Kenya. "This project will enable the expansion of Kenya's electrical grid and help to provide a secure energy supply for East Africa's economic development for Uganda & Tanzania."
