As the voyage of the International School of Boston continues into its 53 rd year, there is exciting news to
share about our many accomplishments as well as new initiatives.
In this annual report, we share highlights from the past year that showcase the vibrancy of our multicultural
school community. These are essential to the vitality of our school, the academic successes of our students
and the great strides our school has taken introducing innovative programs such as the Babson College
entrepreneurship program and our membership in the Research Schools International group led by faculty
at the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
But first and foremost, this publication is a way to express our deepest gratitude to every family for choosing
ISB and supporting the ISB Fund for Excellence.
The ISB Fund for Excellence ensures that ISB students and faculty benefit directly from needed
enhancements in our programs and facilities so that ISB may remain the leader in New England in bilingual
and international education.
The community’s support of the ISB Fund for Excellence is a demonstration of its commitment to ISB’s past,
present and future.

Dans ce rapport annuel, nous partageons les points marquants de la dernière année qui mettent en valeur
le dynamisme de notre communauté scolaire multiculturelle, essentiel à la vitalité de notre école, les succès

FINANCIAL AID IN 2014-2015
During the school year 2014-2015, the International School of Boston spent 7% of its budget to provide
direct financial assistance to families, thus reducing the tuition for 94 students, with a total budget of
$1,022,541.
The French government granted a total of $1,080,448 in financial aid to 61 students of ISB during that
year.
Thus, thanks to their assistance and the school, a r o u n d 22% of our ISB students received financial
support.
The International School of Boston is deeply grateful to the French government and the Consulate
General of France in Boston for their support and very thankful to families and companies who
supported the ISB Financial Aid Fund.
Durant l’année scolaire 2014-2015, le Lycée International de Boston a consacré 7% de son budget à
l’aide financière directe aux familles, réduisant ainsi le coût de la scolarité pour 94 élèves avec un
budget total de 1 022 541 $.
Le gouvernement français a accordé une aide (bourses scolaires) d’un montant total de 1 080 448 $
à 61 élèves du LIB.
Ainsi, grâce aux bourses scolaires françaises et à l’aide financière de l’école, près de 22 % des
élèves scolarisés au LIB ont reçu un soutien financier.

AN INNOVATING PROGRAM AT ISB:
THE BABSON ENTREPREUNEURSHIP PROGRAM
If there is one word of French origin that Americans are sure to know these days, it's "entrepreneur."
The entrepreneurial spirit plays a prominent role in the American dream. It does not just imply making a fast
fortune in business; one can also be a social entrepreneur.
In 2014-2015, for the first time, ISB students participated in the Babson Entrepreneurial Leadership
Academy. Babson College, which is located in Wellesley, is considered one of the top undergraduate
business schools in the country and its entrepreneurship program has consistently been ranked number
one by U.S. News & World Report and Financial Times. The college prides itself on emphasizing "creativity,
imagination, hands-on learning, and risk taking as essential to learning the foundation of business."
The program at ISB was led by Professor Peter Bagley, the Director of Babson Entrepreneurial Leadership
Academy, who specifically asked to work with our school. The course began with an orientation and ran
for fourteen weeks. In alternating weeks, students worked with Professor Bagley or with student mentors
from Babson. From time to time, the students also heard guest speakers, and they enjoyed online access to
the Babson College library.
NEW PROGRAM AT ISB . NOUVEAU PROGRAMME DU LIB
The response from our students was very strong, with 19 students participating from grades 10 and 11 and
from both the French and IB programs. At the heart of the course was a project that the students developed
together. They not only learned about both business and social entrepreneurship but also gained valuable
leadership and collaboration skills that can be applied in other areas and are so important in today's world.
As an added bonus, this course provided another opportunity for students from our two diploma programs
to work together. The program ended with a public presentation of the project (see page 7.)

S'il est un mot d’origine française que les Américains connaissent aujourd’hui, c'est le mot « entrepreneur ».
L'esprit d'entrepreneuriat joue un rôle important dans le rêve américain. Cela n’implique pas seulement de
faire fortune dans le monde des affaires; on peut aussi être un entrepreneur social.
En 2014-2015, les élèves du LIB ont participé pour la première fois au Babson Entrepreneurial
Leadership Academy. Babson College, situé à Wellesley, est considéré comme l'une des meilleures écoles
de commerce de premier cycle des États-Unis, et son programme d'entrepreneuriat a toujours été classé
numéro 1 par le U.S. News & World Report et le Financial Times. Babson met l'accent sur la créativité,
l'imagination, l'apprentissage par la pratique et la prise de risque pour enseigner les fondements du monde
des affaires.
Nos élèves ont eu la chance de bénéficier de l’enseignement unique du professeur Peter Bagley, le
directeur de Babson Entrepreneurial Leadership Academy, qui a choisi de travailler avec notre école. Le
cours a commencé par une session d'information et s’est poursuivi pendant quatorze semaines. Les élèves
ont travaillé en alternance avec le Professeur Bagley et des mentors étudiants de Babson. Nos élèves ont
également assisté à des conférences et bénéficié d'un accès à la bibliothèque en ligne de Babson
College.
L'intérêt porté à ce programme a été très fort, et 19 élèves de seconde et de première, venant aussi bien de
la filière française que de la filière internationale y ont participé. L’essentiel de la formation a porté sur un
projet que les étudiants ont développé par équipes. Ils ont non seulement appris ce qu'est l'entrepreneuriat
social et d'affaires, mais ont acquis des compétences recherchées en leadership et en travail d'équipe,
utiles dans tous les domaines et primordiales dans le monde d'aujourd'hui. De plus, cette expérience a
permis aux étudiants des deux filières de travailler ensemble. Le programme s’est conclu par une
présentation des projets devant un jury (voir ci-après).

In the spring, the 19 Upper School students who had been participating since the fall in the Babson College
Entrepreneur Leadership program presented their group projects before a panel of five judges and an
appreciative audience. In all, seven groups competed for the honor of being one of two teams to
represent ISB in the Babson Boston Cup, held in May at Babson College.

The evening was hosted by Babson professor Peter J. Bagley and each team had six minutes to describe
their new venture project to the judges, who then asked follow-up questions. Their oral presentations,
accompanied by slides, detailed not only their ideas for a new product or service but also why it fulfilled a
need. They also outlined start-up costs and timelines. It is fair to say that audience and judges alike
were amazed by the creativity, sophistication and articulateness of the students, who had all clearly worked
very hard over the previous five months.
Two teams were selected to go on to the Boston finals, where they were among 14 teams from seven
schools.
Maxime Crener and Sophie Lee comprised the other winning team, "CrenLee." Their plan was to form a
not-for-profit organization whose mission was to teach children the principles of good nutrition by teaching
them how to cook healthy food.
Even if ISB did not win the Babson cup, our seven teams had an invaluable experience that enhanced their
inventiveness, their ability to work as a team, and their organizational and presentational skills. This was the
first year in which we were part of the program. Based on what we saw in the spring, it should flourish at ISB
for years to come and become an important part of ISB’s offerings.
THE BABSON ENTREPREUNEURSHIP PROGRAM
One of the winning teams, "Design.Dazed," was made up of Rebecca Zama, Lara Ouzounian-Halpin, and
Eva Sénéchal. Their proposal was to create a fashion app that teenagers can use to get helpful comments
on their wardrobe, whether they are looking to buy a new outfit or just selecting what to wear on a
particular occasion.

Au printemps, les 19 élèves du Lycée qui avaient participé depuis l’automne au programme ont présenté
leur projet de groupe devant un jury de cinq juges et un fervent public. Au total, sept équipes ont concouru
et deux projets ont été sélectionnés pour participer en mai à la Babson Boston Cup.
La soirée était animée par le professeur de Babson, Peter J. Bagley, et chaque équipe avait 6 minutes pour
présenter son projet d’entreprise aux juges qui, ensuite, posaient des questions aux candidats. Leurs
présentations orales décrivaient non seulement leur concept, mais aussi la raison pour laquelle le projet
répondait à un besoin, ainsi que les coûts et les calendriers de création. Le public et les juges ont été
impressionnés par la créativité, la sophistication et l’éloquence des élèves qui avaient, de toute évidence,
travaillé de façon très assidue durant ces cinq derniers mois.

Même si le LIB n’a pas gagné la coupe, nos 7 équipes ont vécu une expérience incomparable qui a
renforcé leur esprit d’innovation, leur capacité à travailler en groupe et leurs compétences d’organisation
et de présentation. Suite à cette première participation réussie, ce programme est appelé à se développer
pour devenir une option pérenne du Lycée.

ISB is fortunate to be surrounded by some of the best colleges and universities in the world!
In October 2014, ISB signed an agreement to become one of the eleven members of Research Schools
International, a program led by Harvard Graduate School of Education (HGSE) faculty.
The group is described by its director, Dr. Christina Hinton, as "a global network of schools that partner with
researchers to conduct cutting-edge research, lead professional development, and disseminate research
findings to the broader educational community."
ISB was the third school in the United States to join the project and the only member in the Greater Boston
area. Our initial two-year research project with HGSE professors and graduate students focused on the
effectiveness of a globally-focused education, including intercultural understanding and non native
language learning.
The initial phase consisted of research on best practices throughout the world and on the effectiveness of our
programs at ISB, leading to professional development for our teachers and then follow-up on our
implementation of recommended practices.
As a side benefit, some of our fourth graders had the opportunity to communicate regularly with students at
a school in Rwanda.
We feel very fortunate to have entered into this new relationship with Harvard GSE faculty. It has opened new
opportunities on a global scale for both our faculty and our students.

En octobre 2014, nous avons signé un accord pour devenir l'un des onze membres de Research Schools
International, programme placé sous l'égide de professeurs de la Graduate School of Education de Harvard.
Ce groupe se présente, selon sa directrice Christina Hinton, comme « un réseau mondial d'établissements
scolaires s'associant avec des chercheurs dans le but d'entreprendre des recherches de pointe, de mener

projet initial de recherche avec les professeurs de la Graduate School of Education de Harvard porte sur la
manière dont le LIB offre une éducation ouverte sur le monde tout en incluant la compréhension des
différences culturelles ainsi que l'apprentissage des langues pour locuteurs non natifs.
La phase initiale consiste en une recherche des meilleures pratiques à travers le monde et de l'efficacité de
nos programmes, débouchant à terme sur une action de formation continue pour nos enseignants et un suivi
sur la mise en place des pratiques recommandées.
Dans le cadre de ce projet, plusieurs de nos élèves de CM1 ont eu l'opportunité de pouvoir communiquer
régulièrement avec les élèves d’une école au Rwanda.
Nous avons beaucoup de chance de pouvoir former un partenariat avec les professeurs de la Graduate
School of Education de Harvard. Ce projet représente une nouvelle opportunité à un niveau international à
la fois pour nos enseignants et nos élèves.

FRENCH BACCALAUREATE
In the French Baccalaureate, our seniors all passed, 91% with a mention (honors). They achieved
3 mentions Très Bien, 5 Bien, and 2 Assez Bien. The overall average for the class was 14.4 out of 20, which is
one of our highest averages ever. In the Option Internationale du Bac (OIB), all of our candidates
received a mention, a record matched by only one other lycée in America.
BACCALAURÉAT FRANÇAIS
Tous nos élèves ont été reçus à leur Baccalauréat français, dont 91 % avec mention.
Ils ont obtenu 3 mentions Très Bien, 5 Bien et 2 Assez Bien. La moyenne générale de la
classe était de 14,4 sur 20, ce qui est l’une des plus élevées à ce jour. En Option
Internationale du Bac (OIB), tous nos candidats ont reçu une mention, résultat égalé
par un seul autre lycée en Amérique.

Our International Baccalaureate results were once again excellent, with an average score of 35.
This is well above the world average of 29. Over ten years, 98% of our candidates have achieved
the diploma, compared to the world average of only 78%. Especially notable is that, in the class of
2015, a remarkable 83% of our students received the Bilingual Diploma. This challenging
diploma requires students to successfully pass advanced literature classes in two languages. Worldwide, only 28% of students received the Bilingual Diploma last year. Our students paired English
literature with either French, Chinese or Russian.
Nos résultats au Baccalauréat International (IB) ont été une fois de plus excellents,
avec une moyenne de 35. Ceci est nettement supérieur à la moyenne mondiale qui
est de 29. En 10 ans, 98 % de nos candidats ont obtenu le diplôme, comparé à la
moyenne mondiale de 78 %. Ce qui est surtout remarquable avec cette Promotion
2015, c’est que 83 % de nos élèves ont reçu le Diplôme Bilingue. Ce diplôme de haut
niveau exige des élèves de réussir les cours de littérature avancée dans deux langues.
Au niveau mondial, seulement 28 % des élèves ont obtenu le Diplôme Bilingue l’an
dernier. Nos élèves ont associé le cours de littérature anglaise à celui soit de français,
de chinois ou de russe.

My name is Luca Didomenico and I am a freshman in the Elliott School of
International Affairs at George Washington University. I chose to study
International Affairs at GW because I couldn't see a better place to do so than
in the capital of the United States. There are countless opportunities every day
to branch out and expand my network within the city, allowing me to get a
better feel of what I might be doing in the future.

Like anyone, being in my first year of college, I am still in the process of
adapting to a new environment. Living on my own is something I've never
done before, and to be honest, it was hard at first. I would say I'm almost at a
point where I feel completely comfortable in my new school, maybe in a
month or two I'll refer to it as 'home'. My love and admiration for the city of DC
definitely has helped, since the city itself makes me happy and grateful to be
there. I feel very lucky to have gone to ISB before going to college.
Coming from ISB, I can say with confidence that I've had a different experience coming into college
than most students at GW. Switching from a very close environment to a huge school was a shock at first,
but it was refreshing at the same time. The thing that makes ISB different is that it is the most 'open' closed
environment I've ever experienced. Although it is a small school, the diversity in the student body has
taught me so much about the different cultures of the world, allowing me to open my eyes all the more
widely here at GW. I feel very lucky to have gone to ISB before going to college.
Comme tout le monde en première année d’université, je suis encore dans le processus d'adaptation à
un nouvel environnement. Vivre tout seul est quelque chose que je n’ai jamais fait auparavant, et pour
être honnête, ça a été difficile au début. Je dirais que je suis presque au point où je me sens
complètement à l'aise dans ma nouvelle école. Peut-être que dans un mois ou deux, je me sentirai
«
chez moi ». Mon amour et mon admiration pour la ville de DC y a certainement contribué,
puisque c’est la ville elle-même qui me rend heureux et reconnaissant d'être là.
Venant du LIB, je peux dire avec certitude que j’ai
eu une expérience d’entrée à l’université
différente de la plupart des étudiants à GW. Le
passage d'un environnement très fermé à une
énorme école a été un choc au début, mais ce
passage a été en même temps rafraîchissant.
Ce qui rend le LIB différent des autres lycées est qu'il
est l'environnement clos le plus « ouvert » que je
connaisse. Bien que ce soit une petite école, la diversité
de
sa
population
étudiante
m'a
beaucoup appris sur les différentes cultures du
monde. J’ai beaucoup de chance d'avoir été au LIB
avant de rentrer à l’université.

My name is Charlotte Sénéchal. After Graduating from ISB in July 2015, I have now just completed my first
semester at McGill University in Montreal, Canada. I am in the Faculty of Science, majoring in Anatomy and
Cell Biology and am planning on applying to med schools after completing my Bachelor.
So far, I have really enjoyed my time at McGill. ISB and the International Baccalaureate prepared me very
well. I thought that transitioning to a school in which one lecture hall could fit my entire High School would
prove to be a challenge and a huge adjustment. However, ISB instilled in me a strong work ethic and focus
that has served me very well at McGill and allowed me to really get the most from my classes, regardless of
the size. The advanced levels of my classes also helped me start the semester strongly and I sometimes still pull
out my notes from high school if I need the help.
The international aspect of ISB with its plethora of nationalities is also something that has followed me to
university. I love that I go to a school in a bilingual city and that I have friends from all over the world. Growing
up at an international school really allowed me to appreciate different cultures and McGill has allowed me to
continue the international aspect of my life and education.
My first semester at McGill has been amazing and though a challenge, ISB truly prepared me for this next step
and as I continue my education, I know the values instilled in me by ISB will continue to serve me.
Je m’appelle Charlotte Sénéchal. Après avoir obtenu mon baccalauréat international en juillet 2015, je viens
tout juste de terminer mon premier semestre à l'Université McGill de Montréal, Canada. Je suis à la Faculté des
Sciences, avec pour spécialisation l’anatomie et la biologie cellulaire. J’ai l'intention de postuler aux
écoles de médecine après avoir terminé ma licence.
Jusqu'à présent, j’apprécie vraiment l'Université de McGill. Le LIB et le baccalauréat international m’y ont très
bien préparée. Je pensais que la transition vers un campus sur lequel un seul amphithéâtre est aussi grand que
mon ancien lycée se révèlerait être un défi et un ajustement énorme. Mais le LIB m'a appris à beaucoup
travailler et à bien me concentrer, ce qui m'a servi à l'Université McGill et m'a permis de vraiment tirer le
meilleur des classes dans lesquelles je suis, peu en importe la taille. Le très bon niveau académique de mes
cours au LIB m’ont aidée à commencer le trimestre sans aucune difficulté et je sors parfois mes notes du
lycée pour m’aider.
L'aspect international du LIB, avec sa pléthore de nationalités, est aussi quelque chose qui m'a suivi à
l'université. J’adore être à l’université dans une ville bilingue et avoir des amis partout dans le monde. Grandir
dans une école internationale m'a vraiment permis d'apprécier différentes cultures, et McGill me permet de
poursuivre ma vie et mes études dans un environnement international.
Mon premier semestre à l'Université McGill a été incroyable et bien qu’un défi, le LIB m’a vraiment préparée à
cette prochaine étape. En continuant mes études, je sais que les valeurs que le LIB m’a inculquées vont
continuer à me servir.

My name is Rafael Ballestiero and am currently attending Imperial College of London as an undergraduate
in the program of computer science and mathematics. Also known as JMC, this program is described by
Imperial staff itself as being “60 % of the mathematics course and 60% of the computing course.” Apart from
the heavy workload, this means that students like me can pursue their academic passion for
mathematics while also getting the professional benefits from a computer science degree from one of the
top technology universities in the world. In the computer science side of the degree, my modules mostly
consist of the more theoretical side of the subject, such as logic, ethics and programming. On the other
hand, the mathematical modules I take in the first year pave the foundation for the following years to
come, both in applied and pure mathematics.
During my time at ISB, I learned how to work consistently and
efficiently. Through the weekly tests in my last two years, or just daily
homework for each class, I had to learn to work and study consistently
in order to succeed at ISB. This habit keeps me afloat and on top of
my work now that the workload doubled. Furthermore, my teachers at
ISB taught me the foundations of scientific procedure and analytical
thought, key tools which some of my current colleagues are only now
learning. Finally, the hugely diverse international scene that ISB
provides allowed for an extremely easy transition to my college.
Thanks to ISB, I know how to interact with people from all over the
world and how to easily make friends with people coming from
different backgrounds.
Je m’appelle Rafael Ballestiero et je suis actuellement à l’Imperial
College de Londres, en premier cycle du programme informatique et
mathématiques. Aussi connu sous le nom JMC, ce programme est
décrit par le corps enseignant lui-même comme « 60% de cours de
mathématiques et de 60% de cours d’informatique ». En dehors de la
très lourde charge de travail, cela signifie que les étudiants comme moi peuvent poursuivre leur passion
académique pour les mathématiques tout en obtenant les avantages professionnels d'un diplôme
d'informatique de l'une des meilleures universités de technologie du monde. En informatique, mes modules
sont principalement théoriques (logique, éthique et programmation). Quant aux modules de
mathématiques que je suis en première année, ils posent les bases de ce qui viendra par la suite, à la fois en
mathématiques appliquées et en mathématiques pures.
Après mon premier semestre à Imperial, je n’ai que du bien à dire de cette université et de mes cours.
Chaque jour, j’ai non seulement la chance de travailler aux côtés de personnes parmi les plus brillantes que
j’ai rencontrées jusqu’à présent, mais j’ai aussi trouvé un environnement social accueillant qui satisfait mes
attentes. Personnellement, plus que toute autre chose, je profite de l'indépendance que j’ai à l'université, sur
le plan académique et social. Je suis maintenant entièrement responsable de mon travail et c’est le LIB qui
m’y a préparé.
Au LIB, j’ai appris à travailler de manière cohérente et efficace. Grâce à des devoirs sur table
hebdomadaires pendant les deux dernières années et des devoirs à la maison chaque jour, j’ai appris à
travailler et à étudier de manière systématique. Ces bonnes habitudes me permettent de gérer
efficacement mon temps maintenant que la charge de travail a doublé. Les professeurs du LIB m’ont appris
les bases de la démarche scientifique et de la pensée analytique, des outils clés que certains étudiants sont
ici encore en train d’apprendre. Enfin, la composition internationale extrêmement diversifiée du LIB a
grandement facilité ma transition. Grâce au LIB, je sais comment interagir avec des gens qui viennent du
monde entier et je suis devenu facilement ami avec des personnes venant d'horizons différents.

After my first term at Imperial, I have nothing but compliments for the university and for my courses. Not only
do I get to work alongside some of the brightest people I ever met, everyday, but I also found a welcoming
social scene which satisfied and expanded my interests. Personally, I enjoy the independence I gained at
university, both academic and social, more than anything else. I am now fully responsible for my work and I
can think of no better place to prepare me for this this than ISB.

ISB is a private independent school and does not receive any direct funding from the American or French
governments. Like many independent schools in the United States, ISB depends on tax-deductible donations
to its annual fund. At ISB, we call this fund the ISB Fund For Excellence.

The ISB Fund For Excellence helps keep tuition at a competitive rate and ensure that ISB students and faculty
benefit directly from needed enhancements in our programs and facilities so that ISB may maintain its
unsurpassed quality of education. This fund is of critical importance to the school each year, in order to
implement ISB’s mission of educating citizens of tomorrow. Your participation is essential to the health and
vitality of ISB, allowing the school to maintain its high standards and unique educational experience. The

VOLUNTEERING
Since 1962, at ISB, being a parent has meant belonging to a community of educators, mentors, leaders and
other parents who seek to offer our students the best opportunities for learning. We encourage parents to
get involved as volunteers in events, as chaperones, in the Parents and Teachers Organization (PTO), school
activities and as room parents. Some parents serve on the School’s governing board as Trustees, some in
committees of the board, some as representative on the PTO leadership team. Parents quickly realize that
giving, in the form of money or time brings great satisfaction, not only for themselves, but also for their
children who are happy to see their parents as active members of their school.

During the past eight years, your donations also funded the new playground (2008), the math lab (2009), the
science lab (2010), the student lounge (2011), the media-center (2012), a new music room (2013), a bright
and contemporary lobby in Cambridge, and the continuation of the restoration of our historical Cambridge
building (consolidation of the north façade) as well as new floors and lighting for a more welcoming
maternelle in Arlington (2014), and finally in the Summer of 2015, a new Faculty space in Cambridge, as well
as the introduction of new technologies and security locks in maternelle.

Why doesn't ISB just raise tuition instead of asking for
donations?
Pourquoi ne pas simplement augmenter les frais de
scolarité au lieu de faire appel aux dons ?
Raising tuition to cover all of the costs of an ISB
education would limit the number of qualified students
who could afford to attend. Because ISB believes in
offering an education to all capable students, we try to
keep tuition as low as possible and supplement
enhancement costs with tax-deductible donations.
Augmenter les frais de scolarité pour couvrir la totalité des
coûts d'une éducation au LIB aurait pour conséquence de
limiter le nombre d'étudiants qualifiés lors des inscriptions.
Parce que le LIB veut offrir une éducation à tous les

Each year families leave the International School
of Boston and new ones arrive. We hope current
parents will recognize the need to demonstrate
gratitude for the school they inherit from past
families by continuing the chain of generosity for
generations to come.
Chaque année, des familles quittent le LIB et de
nouvelles arrivent. Nous espérons que les parents
actuels reconnaissent la nécessité de démontrer leur

This summer, the faculty room was renovated. Although it was not possible to expand the physical space,
our architect Maryann Thompson designed a way to reuse the space, making it much more efficient, and
helpful to all the teachers. This was a significant renovation that made the room much more useful and
comfortable for the many people who depend on it daily.
All faculty and staff are greatly appreciative of the donations you were able to make towards this project.

Cet été, la Salle des Professeurs a été rénovée ! Bien qu'il n'ait pas été possible d'agrandir cet espace, notre
architecte Maryann Thompson a imaginé une façon de l’agencer, le rendant plus adéquat pour tous les
enseignants. La reconfiguration de cet espace est significative et améliore considérablement le quotidien
des nombreuses personnes qui l'utilisent chaque jour.

INTRODUCTION OF NEW TECHNOLOGIES AND SECURITY LOCKS /
INTRODUCTION DE NOUVELLES TECHNOLOGIES ET INSTALLATION DE VERROUS
After carefully evaluating the needs at Maternelle for new technology, various options were tested, and the
Maternelle program decided upon the introduction of iPads in each class and the afterschool
program. Donations to the ISB Fund for Excellence made this acquisition possible, knowing that an iPad will
never replace a teacher. But times change, bring new tools, and we all need to learn how to use them.
ISB also invested in new security locks to increase the safety of the Maternelle building.
Many of the improvements at our school have been the result of the generosity of ISB
parents since the school was created in 1962. Let’s keep that tradition alive!
Après une évaluation minutieuse des besoins de la maternelle en nouvelles
technologies, différentes options ont été testées, et la Maternelle a décidé
d'introduire des iPads dans toutes les classes et pour son programme périscolaire.
Vos dons au Fonds d’Excellence du LIB ont permis ces acquisitions ainsi que la
formation des enseignants, sachant qu’un iPad ne les remplacera jamais. Mais à
chaque époque correspond de nouveaux outils, qu’il faut apprendre à utiliser.
Le LIB a également investi dans de nouveaux verrous pour mieux sécuriser le bâtiment de la maternelle.
Un grand nombre des améliorations apportées à notre école est le résultat de la générosité des parents du
LIB depuis sa création, en 1962. Gardons cette tradition de générosité bien vivante !

The success of an event like the annual ISB benefit gala
relies on 2 essential things:
ISB BENEFIT GALA . LE GALA DE BIENFAISANCE DU LIB
First of all: organization! From visiting venues at the
beginning of October to saying good night to our last guests
on March 27th, we were lucky to have an amazing Gala
Committee this year again. Thank you to Kerri Beaumont,
Silke Berlinghof-Nielsen, Nicole Ferry-Lacchia, Boris
Hernandez, Laurence Honan, Virginie Legrand, Gaëlle
Martinat, Cécile Penot-Dietrich and Édith Windsor. Everyone
in this committee has had important roles: choosing a
theme, designing the invitation and the catalog, translating,
planning logistics, negotiating, contacting businesses,
obtaining gifts, organizing, decorating, food tasting, table
organizing... The list is endless, but seeing smiles from all the
guests was priceless. Thank you everyone for your time, your
talent, your creativity and your friendship. A special thank
you to Judith Guillou and Alexandra Knibbe for their
precious help.
Secondly: the guests. What a fantastic crowd! Elegant, generous, James Bond glamorous, party
enthusiasts...you were a-ma-zing! With 240 guests, the Gala was sold out before the end of the ticket sale
and the Great State Room was filled with parents, students, faculty and staff, alumni, parents of former
students, and friends.
It was an honor to welcome you all to celebrate what we all have in common and cherish: The International
School of Boston.

Le succès d'un événement comme le Gala de Bienfaisance Annuel du LIB repose sur 2 choses essentielles :
Tout d’abord : l’organisation. De la visite des lieux début Octobre à l’adresse de tous nos remerciements à
nos derniers invités en fin de soirée, nous avons eu la chance d'avoir un comité de gala incroyable cette
année encore. Merci à Kerri Beaumont, Silke Berlinghof-Nielsen, Nicole Ferry-Lacchia, Boris Hernandez,
Laurence Honan, Virginie Legrand, Gaëlle Martinat, Cécile Penot-Dietrich et Édith Windsor. Chaque membre
de ce comité a eu un rôle important : choix d'un thème, conception de l'invitation et du catalogue,
traduction, planification de la logistique, négociation, contact avec les entreprises, obtention de dons,
organisation, décoration, dégustation de la nourriture, enregistrement des invités... La liste est interminable…
Mais voir le sourire de tous les invités était inestimable. Merci à tous pour votre temps, votre talent, votre

Deuxièmement : les invités. Quelle foule fantastique ! Élégante, généreuse, glamour, fan de James Bond,
festive... Vous avez été im-pres-sion-nants ! Avec 240 invités , le Gala a affiché complet avant la fin de la
vente des billets et le magnifique espace du 60 State Street était rempli de parents, d’élèves, de
d’enseignants et d’employés du LIB, d’anciens élèves, de parents d'anciens élèves et bien d’autres amis.
Ce fut un honneur de vous accueillir pour célébrer ce que nous chérissons tous : le Lycée International de
Boston.
