The city of Neustadt a. d. Donau (on the Danube), located between Ingolstadt and Regensburg in the
administrative district of Kelheim, is in possession of the oldest civic law of all Bavarian cities. The law was
granted to the city on May 11th 1273 by Duke Ludwig the 2nd, the Severe. Decisive for the rise of the city
Neustadt a. d. Donau was the settlement of the oil refinery Erdoelraffinerie Neustadt a. d. Donau (presently
the firm Bayernoil) in the year 1964
Because of the continual establishment of industrial and residential zones as well as the incorporation of 12
local districts, the city Neustadt a. d. Donau grew from about 4,000 inhabitants in the year 1972 to currently
about 12,500.
Whereas the districts are predominantly rural and agricultural, the city Neustadt a. d. Donau itself represents
the commercial and industrial center of the greater metropolitan area. An exception to this is the health resort
Bad Goegging with its medicinal therapies (sulphur, mud and thermal baths), the spa hotel, the Limes Therme
(thermal springs) and renowned 4 and 5 star hotels. Within the region of the city Neustadt a. d. Donau there
are presently approx. 6,000 jobs subject to social security charges. The number of commuters entering the
city is thereby much greater than the number leaving the city.
The city Neustadt a. d. Donau promotes the settlement of companies by offering reasonably priced industrial
zones and by fast and unbureaucratic assistance in the handling of all questions related to settlement. The
municipal multiples for real estate tax types A and B amount to 300% at the present. The commercial
earnings tax factor amounts to 360%. The city Neustadt a. d. Donau can offer developed commercial and
industrial plots that can be built up immediately in sizes ranging from 4,000 to 20,000 m². Depending upon the
requirements it is also possible to make available plots of arbitrarily large sizes upon receipt of such queries.
The commercial and industrial zones are all in the immediate vicinity of the city Neustadt a. d. Donau, all have
favorable subsurface conditioning and they all have excellent connections to regional highways.
The city Neustadt a. d. Donau has four kindergartens, a grade school and an intermediate school, a music
school, a training institute for physiotherapy, a home for the aged, a senior citizens home with care services,
several shopping centers and a market for building materials, home appliances and furniture. Schools for
higher education are to be found in the immediate neighbourhood.
The city Neustadt a. d. Donau together with the health resort Bad Goegging offers all its residents outstanding
living standards and quality along with the additional advantage of jobs that are close to the place of
residence.
