Founded in 1996, the French Wind Energy Association (France
Energie Eolienne - FEE) is a network of almost 250 members
involved in the French Wind Industry.
FEE supports wind power development in France. It advocates
for a suitable legal framework to be put in place. It voices
the rights and interests of its members. To this end, FEE
represents the industry before public, national, European and
regional authorities and regulating bodies. FEE also promotes
the benefits of wind energy to the public and the media.
The policy positions and data are made in collaboration with
the association members. Commissions and specific working
groups composed of professionals focus on the following
topics: Legal framework, Industry, Economics, Grid connection,
Project planning and development, Offshore, Public relations,
Industry, Operation.
It informs its members of any interesting development for
the industry, provides the positions of the industry in the law
and regulation making process, interacts with government
members and their cabinets, members of Parliament, civil
servants and journalists, organizes events for its members and
the public and generally supports wind energy development.
FEE also works to create and strengthen links between the
various French and foreign partners in the wind power industry.

The objective of the Grenelle 2 law is to increase the percentage
of renewable energies to 23% by the year 2020. As the number
one region in installed capacity, Picardie has made great
strides towards this transition with nearly 1000 MW installed to
date and has commited to reach 2800 MW by 2020, not counting
the 6000 MW offshore that have been projected for 2020, much
of which directly concerns the region.
Picardie has strong assets and industrial expertise (mechanics,
hydraulics, metalurgy, electronics; composites, etc.), and the
Region is also committed to strengthening the competitiveness
of its companies by supporting industrial diversification projects
and consolidating its top suppliers. Furthermore, the Region
promotes the emergence of collaborative projects that bring
sector companies, technology transfer centres and research
centres together to create future wind power technologies.
Finally, the Region offers training to prepare for employment in
the area, including a project to create training in maintenance.

DEF was established in France in 1958, providing services to
the fire trade for over 50 years.
DEF provides a professional service by designing, supplying,
installing, commissioning and servicing a wide range of fire
detection and fire extinguishing systems.
Fire fast «out of control» and can evolve into a catastrophy. It is
the only event that has a high impact on loss of life, environmental
exposure, and costs. Fire endangers the continuity of an
operation and a early detection and extinguishing is the only
way to prevent a fire developing into a catastrophe.
As for the wind energy activity, European reference tables
recommend to integrate fire safety systems in the hazardous
areas such as nacelles, transformers, switchgear cabinets,
and electric power stations.
DEF’s mission is to provide you with the best fire protection
solutions to «protect your future».
In some figures : the DEF Group counts 30 companies, 1600
employees, local branches in 8 countries and 30 local agencies
in France – among with agencies dedicated to specific activities
(Nuclear, Telecom, Transport and Wind Energy).

Founded in 2009, EPSILINE is a high technology company which
develops wind measurement solutions based on laser systems
and serves the wind energy industry. The company is located
in Toulouse, France. Innovation at Epsiline is the result of 15
years research and know-how in optoelectronics. Innovation
was conducted among optoelectronics and photonics research
groups.
Our products are optical anemometers emitting laser beams.
Each beam is focused on wind particles (aerosols) acting as
light scatterers. The scattered light shows a wavelength shift:
this phenomenon is commonly known as the Doppler Effect.
Our technology detects the Doppler shift signal induced by
wind flow to access an accurate wind speed measurement and
is designed to show significant improvements in comparison
with current anemometers.

The company was established in October 1987 in Gaillan
Medoc, in the South West of France by Stéphane LULL,
current managing director, and a group of managers still in
command. The starting point was a simple, yet revolutionary
idea: to democratize carbon fibre thanks to a mass production
process, pultrusion.
This is the mission the company shrived for since the beginning.
EPSILON COMPOSITE then progressively turned into the first
company worldwide fully dedicated to produce tubes and
profiles with Carbon fibre and Epoxy resins.
The company then focused on defining products, based on
carbon fibre pultrusion, that should be the alternative to
traditional solutions on the market and it organised itself
to do so with:
EPSILON PULTRUSION, our core business, with activities in:
• Niche markets: industry and sport
• Construction and civil engineering
• Oil and Gas extraction
• Wind energy
• Automotive
EPSILON ROLLERS, vertical integration capitalizing on
EPSILON PULTRUSION know-how and catering to the needs of:
• Film extrusion industry (plastic films or other foils)
• Textile and non-woven, paper making industry
• Printing technologies,
• Electronic technologies (Machines to manufacture LCD
screens, PCB…)
EPSILON AEROSPACE, Pultruded structural parts for
aeronautics since 2010.

SCAIME has become one of the world leaders in the field of
measurement, with its technological mastery and powerful
products. The company offers now a solution of fibre optic
measuring systems with strain gauges, temperature sensors
and optoelectronic data acquisition units developed from
Bragg grating technology.
These fibre optic sensors have a set of features that open up new
horizons, they are completely insensitive to electromagnetic
interference, lightning in particular. They are intrinsically very
robust with a high fatigue resistance and can be used in severe
climate conditions (humidity, salt, cold, heat). The wiring is
reduced as up to twelve gauges can be placed in series on a
single optical line with no limit to length.
The system offered by SCAIME measures the stresses on the
blades as well as on the mast and the foundations and offers
numerous analysis options. The calculation models can be
parametrised according to the characteristics of the structure
to be monitored and had been designed in cooperation with
turbine manufacturers in order to adapted the model to the
different types of turbine. Our solution can also been installed
in areas where there is a risk of ice formation. And finally,
thanks to its properties, this technology enables simple and
easy compensation of any thermal drift, thus avoiding the need
for any corrections.
