As Dean of Humanities and Applied Sciences Faculty, of which the largest department is Foreign Languages and
Culture Teaching, I have been very much involved in both training language (including mother tongue/official
language)teachers and research in the related areas: linguistic policies, plurilingualism, languages of schooling in
Russian Federation and other CIS countries. Last year I participated both as a speaker and a section coordinator in
MSLU-Dylan Seminar "Plurilingualism: Economic, social, cultural and educational issues" (Bocken,Switzerland, JuneOctober 2008), attended the Conference on Languages of Schooling (Moscow, October 20-21, 2008) organized by
Language Policy Division of COUNCIL OF EUROPE and MSLU, where I worked in LANGUAGE ACROSS THE
CURRICULUM Group. This July I coordinated the work of section "Linguistic Policies - Diversity or Protection?" at the
International Congress CHALLENGES WITHIN THE MULTICULTURAL AND MULTILINGUAL WORLD IN THE XXI
CENTURY. For a number of years I have also been in charge of training CIS languages teachers at MSLU,
developing teaching materials and designing curricula for the languages of post-soviet countries in terms of
plurilingual and multicultural education.
