Captain (Jesse) Grondines, CD
Captain Jesse Grondines will retire from the CF on the 13th August 2010 after 30 years of
service as a firefighter and Construction Engineer.
Jesse joined the military in February 1980 as a firefighter and upon graduating the QL3
course; he was first transferred to Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. This posting was followed
by various transfers, HMCS Saguenay, CFB Uplands Ottawa, HMCS Halifax on the trial
crew which lasted long enough to deploy to the Adriatic Sea in 1994, CFB Shearwater
and Garrison Edmonton. After spending 3 years within LFWA, he was commissioned to
the rank of Captain in 2000 and attended the engineering school at CFB Gagetown. He
then maintained his postings tempo arriving at CFB Halifax FCE NCT in December 2000
as a newly commissioned officer, followed by CFB Trenton CJIRU, CFB Trenton Fire
Department and finally CFB Bagotville.
He served on various NATO commitments as a firefighter and was given the opportunity
to conduct two TAV`s as a NCT Officer with 1ESU in the decommissioning of Camp
Coralici and Tomislovgrad Bosnia.
Jesse has always been a proud member of the DND fire service due to their high level of
professionalism and especially the services being rendered to the community. There are
no words to describe the feelings of accomplishments during an emergency, having a
parent, relative or friend watching the firemen assist someone in distress.
Jesse will not retire from the fire service as he will extend his career by joining the DND
civilian firefighter force as Fire Chief at Garrison Valcartier. Jesse and his wife Francine
will be moving to Quebec City while their children Jesse (son) and Stephanie are
completing their university education in Edmonton and Halifax simultaneously.
A DWD ceremony will be held at the Stade in Chicoutimi to celebrate his career. Please

Capitaine Jesse Grondines va se libérer des FC le 13 août 2010 après 30 années de
service comme pompier et Génie de Construction.
Jesse a joint le militaire en février 1980 comme pompier et après avoir compléter le NQ3,
il était transféré à Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. Ce transfert a été suivi par plusieurs autres;
HMCS Saguenay, CFB Uplands Ottawa, HMCS Halifax avec l’équipage d’essai pour
commissionner le navire qui a duré jusqu’au déploiement pour la mer Adriatique en
1994, CFB Shearwater, Garnison Edmonton. Après trois années à LFWA, il était
commissionné au rang de capitaine et a complété le cours de génie à CFB Gagetown. Par
la suite, il a maintenu son tempo de transfert en allant à BFC Halifax FCE NCT, BFC
Trenton CJIRU, BFC Trenton Service Incendie et finalement BFC Bagotville.
Il a servi dans plusieurs missions de l’OTAN comme pompier et a eu l’opportunité de
participer à 2 TAV avec 1ESU comme officier du NCT en complétant les fermetures du
Camp Coralici and Tomislovgrad, Bosnia.
Jesse a toujours été fier du métier de pompier dû au niveau de professionnalisme
démontrer par les membres du métier et particulièrement des services rendus à la
communauté. Il n’y a pas de mots pour décrire les sentiments d’accomplissements lors
des interventions d’urgence lorsque vous êtes surveillé par un parent ou ami lors de notre
devoir pour assister quelqu’un en besoin ou détresse.
Jesse ne se retire pas du service, il va continuer sa carrière en joignant les confrères civils
à la Garnison de Valcartier comme Directeur du Service Incendie. Jesse et Francine vont
faire leur dernier déménagement à Québec prochainement. Leurs enfants Jesse and
Stéphanie sont présentement aux études universitaires à Edmonton et Halifax
respectivement.
Une cérémonie se tiendra au Stade à Chicoutimi pour célébrer sa carrière militaire. SVP,
