SYNOPSIS
C'est l'été, Pierre a dix-sept ans.
Il s'échappe de la maison familiale et retrouve ses amis.
Sur une rivière, les adolescents jouent à se faire peur.
C'est le jour de l'accident.
Pierre is seventeen.
During the summer, he escapes his family to meet his friends.
On a river, they play tricks to scare each other.
This is when the accident happens.
NOTE D’INTENTION
Un jour, en revenant chez mes parents, j’ai éprouvé un vif sentiment
d’étrangeté face à des lieux qui m’étaient pourtant très familiers. J’ai
alors imaginé un adolescent qui disparaissait brutalement. Pour tromper
son ennui, Pierre passe de l’autre côté du miroir. Il découvre un nouveau
point de vue et se retrouve en équilibre entre deux mondes.
J'ai toujours été très attiré par la marginalité, et le cinéma me permet
d'essayer de donner corps à des situations extrêmes et des rencontres
improbables, à cette confrontation entre la réalité et l’autre vie, fantasmée, propre à la fiction. Le personnage de Pierre prolonge ainsi dans le
danger ma propre adolescence. Dans LES DEUX VIES DU SERPENT, un événement soudain lui donne la possibilité de se transformer, mais le renvoie aussi violemment à ses limites.
One day, while visiting my parents, I had a strong feeling of alienation
despite the extremely familiar setting. It was at this moment that I
began to think of a story about the sudden disappearance of a teenager.
To escape everyday boredom Pierre crosses through the mirror. He discovers a different way of seeing and soon finds himself balancing between two worlds.
The borderline has always appealed to me, and film gives me the opportunity to give substance to extreme situations and unlikely encounters,
to embody the conflict between reality and fantasy, fantasy being unique to fiction. I think of Pierre as a projection of the teenager I was. He
just takes more risks. In LES DEUX VIES DU SERPENT (Second Skin) a sudden incident gives him the opportunity to change at the same acting as
a violent reminder of his own limits.

HÉLIER CISTERNE
Né en 1981, Hélier Cisterne a fait des études de philosophie à Paris. En
2002, il réalise DEHORS, son premier court métrage, prouit par le
G.R.E.C., sélectionné et primé dans de nombreux festivals et diffusé sur
Arte. Produit par Les films du bélier, le moyen métrage LES DEUX VIES DU
SERPENT est son deuxième film. Il travaille actuellement à l’écriture de
son premier long métrage.
Born in 1981, Hélier Cisterne studied philosophy in Paris. In 2002, he
directed his first short film, DEHORS (Outside). The movie was produced
by G.R.E.C. and has been shown in many festivals, where he received
several awards. It has been screened on Arte. Produced by Les films du
bélier, LES DEUX VIES DU SERPENT (Second Skin) is his second film. He is
currently working on the script of his first feature.
