Author:
Born in Matane, Viateur Lefrançois began writing children’s books in 1993 and during that time has published
twenty novels. His history theme novels are a mix of science fiction and reality, that include numerous historic
and cultural references. Three of his books delve into native North American cultures, including the Mayans
of Mexico. He addresses various topics and objectives, sought after by the educational community. The author
is invited by many book fairs in Québec and across Canada. He also has been invited to Belgium, to France,
to Switzerland, the United States and also Mexico, where he sold more than 100 000 books translated into
Spanish. Recently he wrote about the History of New France for which he received First Prize for Merit
Patrimonial.

Après une nuit ponctuée d’orages, d’éclairs et de coups de tonnerre, le jour se lève sur un matin sombre. Les
voyageurs continuent leur expédition sur le fleuve, poussés par le vent. Les vagues frappent l’embarcation et
la balancent dans tous les sens. En habiles marins, ils réussissent à maintenir le cap et à parvenir jusqu’au
village de Rivière-du-Loup. Une forêt de conifères et de feuillus recouvre la région. Des cabanes de pêcheurs
parsèment la grève, et plusieurs d’entre eux s’affairent à repriser leurs filets. L’arrivée des étrangers pique
leur curiosité ; une dizaine de personnes, adultes et enfants, viennent à la rencontre des nouveaux arrivants.
