glissent sous nos pas, n’ont pas réussi à freiner
notre avancée. Cependant, nous les chrétiens authentiques, ne sommes pas surpris car les nombreuses prédictions bibliques ont conclu à la réalisation exacte de l’Évangile de Matthieu, plus précisément au chapitre 24v6, où Jésus Lui-même a
prophétisé toutes ces choses.
« Réveillons-nous,
le temps est proche »
Le thème de notre convention de cette année tiré
de l’Épître de Paul aux Romains 13v12, et qui
stipule : « Réveillons-nous, le temps est proche »,
est une réflexion qui nous invite justement à la
vigilance et qui nous met en garde contre l’esprit
d’antéchrist qui opère déjà dans l’assemblée des
saints avec pour objectif de leur faire rater l’avènement extraordinaire de notre Seigneur. Jésus
nous a donné des indices concernant sa venue
dont l’apostasie dans l’église et la montée d’Israël
dans l’histoire constituent des sonnettes d’alarme
qui doivent nous garder en éveil afin d’être prêt
pour ce grand événement. Sentinelle!!! Soyez vigilent!!!

Cette salutation vous est adressée au nom de l’Organisation Théophile En Christ.
L’année 2010 marque le trentième anniversaire de
Théophile et un nouvel élan qui doit nous porter
vers la réalisation de nos objectifs. La route semble épineuse mais elle est sûre car le seigneur
vient tout le temps à notre secours. Nous devons
aussi notre subsistance au soutien indéfectible de
nos membres fervents qui, malgré vents et marées,
ne cessent de travailler au bien-être de cette organisation. Nous leur adressons nos plus sincères
remerciements. Comment ne pas souligner par
ailleurs l’apport tant important de sœurs et frères

Nous voici donc rendus à notre grande convention
annuelle de 2010, un événement considéré comme
LE plus prisé de toute l’année, où tous les chrétiens et amis de Théophile de partout se donnent
habituellement rendez-vous pour venir célébrer
ensemble cette grande fête.
Cette année, l’événement se déroule dans un atmosphère différent où les nombreuses pierres qui

en christ qui ne cessent de prier pour nous en toutes circonstances; Dieu le leur rendra en temps et
lieu.
Le temps du renouveau.
Ce n’est certainement pas sans raison que Le
thème de la convention de cette année fait appel
au réveil des chrétiens de Théophile. Le grand
remue ménage qui doit redonner un nouveau visage à l’organisation est déjà amorcé. En effet
l’église Théophile de Martissant en Haïti a relancé
une fois de plus sa marche interrompue depuis
quelques années vers la voie du progrès, lors de la
visite d’un de nos leaders qui a galvanisé les troupes. L’église Théophile de Bradenton en Floride
qui, elle aussi, a connu quelques difficultés au
cours des années antérieures, a vu la main de Dieu
triompher encore sur les forces du mal. Actuellement cette église connaît un regain de vie qui visiblement fait la joie de tous ceux-là qui sont demeurés fidèles à la cause de Dieu. Par ailleurs,
nous accueillons avec joie l’arrivée des églises de
Chantal et de Bon repos en Haïti qui se joignent à
nous cette année. Nous espérons que ces rencontres seront profitables pour le succès et le progrès
de notre vision.
La catastrophe qu’a connu Haïti le 12 Janvier dernier nous donné l’occasion d’évaluer encore une
fois tout l’amour que portent les gens de Théophile pour ceux qui sont éplorés. Depuis ce jour,
toutes les forces vives de Théophile ainsi que les
groupes qui composent cette église se sont dévoués corps et âme pour faire tout ce qui est en
leur possibilité afin d’apaiser la douleur de nos
compatriotes haïtiens sur le terrain. La dernière
mission à ce jour fut celle de Big Faith Mission
organisée par le département de santé de Théophile qui a séjourné en Haïti pendant une semaine
au début du mois de Juin 2010. Notre appréciation à vous tous qui êtes engagés dans cette noble
voie et un remerciement spécial à nos frères américains pour leur assistance et leur intervention
rapide et soutenue à l’occasion de ce séisme.
Le temps du renouveau est en marche. Les signes
ne mentent pas. Pour ne pas rater ce grand rendezvous, nous devons nous sortir du sommeil trompeur. Cette convention doit être pour nous chrétiens l’occasion de nous examiner personnellement afin de percer ce mystère du temps, ce temps
qui nous fera défaut si nous choisissons d’ignorer
cet appel divin.
Que le Seigneur vous bénisse.
L’une des ambitions essentielles de notre organisation est d’amener nos églises à une transformation semblable à celle de l’Église primitive. Pour
ce faire, une série de conférences-étude intitulées :
« Une Église Biblique » a été lancée dans la plupart de nos églises et continuera à travers toutes
les églises membres de l’organisation pour un renouveau spécial.

inquiéter. Erreur! car le TEMPS ne nous appartient
pas mais bien au créateur, Dieu Lui-même qui a établit
toutes choses. Nous ne faisons que profiter du TEMPS
qui nous est alloué dans cette vie, sans nous poser cette
fameuse question : Et si mon TEMPS se termine
demain!

l’occasion de la
16ième convention de la
HMTCC, Inc, il nous est
donné l’occasion de
réfléchir sur une vérité sans
équivoque. Un pléonasme
volontaire pour démontrer
la portée de cette notion de
TEMPS dont il est question
cette semaine et qui
devient, comme par enchantement, la chose la plus
importante et la plus urgente dont tout bon chrétien
devrait se soucier.
Nous avions parlé de la relativité du TEMPS. Pour
nous les humains il est en effet réel car il peut
representer dix ans pour vous et cinquante pour
quelqu’un d’autre. Mais pour Dieu il est absolu, c’est à-dire fondamentalement ancré dans son plan pour
l’humanité. En d’autres termes, ce TEMPS est déjà
décidé dans le ciel et est inchangeable même par Dieu.
Ce qui est cependant malheureux, c’est que nous les
serviteurs de Dieu, sensés être sensibilisés par ce qui
doit absolument arriver, semblent faire table rase de
tous les appels, indices, signes, avertissements,
symptômes visibles et par surcroît bibliques, jusqu’à
pousser notre incrédulité au rang de l’ignorance. Dieu,
aura t-il pitié des ignorants avertis?
Pourtant, si nous prenions le TEMPS d’analyser une
journée de notre vie, nous aurions compris que ce
terme à la fois concret et abstrait régit en fin de compte
toute notre existence et que sans lui, nous serions
misérables. Le TEMPS de dormir, le TEMPS de se
lever, le TEMPS de manger, le TEMPS de digérer, le
TEMPS d’aller à l’école, le TEMPS d’étudier, le
TEMPS de ne rien faire, le TEMPS de se marier, le
TEMPS d’avoir des enfants et de fonder un foyer, le
TEMPS de la retraite, et finalement le moins agréable
de tous les TEMPS, le TEMPS de mourir. Voilà donc
des exemples qui illustrent bien ce populaire adage qui
dit :”Chaque chose en son temps”.
Rapprochons-nous un peu du thème de notre
convention :”Réveillons-nous, le temps est proche”,
qui est en quelque sorte une mise en garde à tous les
chrétiens et... pourquoi pas, à tous les non-chrétiens
aussi, puisque nous sommes finalement tous concernés
par ce réveil et par ce fameux TEMPS. De ce point de
vue, le caractère urgent de ce mot d’ordre prend toute
son importance, car nous n’avons aucun contrôle sur
ce TEMPS à venir dont il est question ici.
Si nous pensons que nous avons encore le “TEMPS
spirituel” pour dormir, cette convention devrait nous
faire changer d’avis et surtout nous réveiller car notre
conception du TEMPS est différente de celle de Dieu.
Peut-être même que nous n’en avons presque plus; qui
sait! Mais une chose est sûre c’est que, étant endormis,
nous avons encore le TEMPS de nous réveiller.
La Bible parle de ce TEMPS comme d’un moment
imminent, mais la relativité du TEMPS nous fait croire
en même temps que ce TEMPS n’est peut-être pas

one of the US Church Pastor, one Evangelist/Nurse,
one Evangelist Volunteer, five Nurse technicians, local volunteers and a Pastor from Haiti.

MISSION
In the three areas we served over 600 people in three
days. The team set up clinics in L’Acul, Darbonne,
(Leogane) and Jacquet, (Croix-des-Bouquets). The
first day, the team set up a clinic outside a church.
The crowd was so large, they had to use a tent made
out of coconut leaves for registration and triage.

2010*
On January 12, 2010 Haiti was struck by a very
powerful earthquake. The Haitian Ministry Theophile
Church In Christ mission team in Atlanta, Georgia
BIG FAITH MISSION has put together some time
and effort and went to Haïti on June 1, 2010. The
BIG FAITH MISSION gave away clothes, toiletries,
medical supplies, medical aid and most importantly
the love of Jesus to those in need.
The second day at Darbonne (Leogane), there were
120 houses built by a Christian organization, they
used three of the houses with the tenants’ permission
to set up a clinic, registration and humanitarian aid .
The third day, at Jacquet (Croix-des-Bouquets) which
was the most needed area of the three. The children
were the sickest and the poorest.
The team was composed of one very talented and
humble Haitian medical Doctor, four nurses from the

The people were treated with fevers, infections, skin
rashes, gastrointestinal problems, parasites and other
maladies. Their prescriptions were filled out free of
charge from the medications stocks.
At Jacquet (Croix-Des-Bouquets), the team had 140
families registered and each family had two to three
members per family, and according to them every one
had an illness and needed to see the Doctor. Fortunately, the team managed to see the sickest of the
sick.

The majority of the people who came, left with medications if needed and with a bag donated by Southern
Crescent Hospital for Specialty Care in Riverdale,
Georgia with toiletries, clothes and some with money
as well.
After seeing the Doctor, each family received a bag

THEOPHILE CHURCH OF
BRADENTON: A NEW BIRTH
If we were to analyze these two verses word by
word, one could infer that this new adventure of
Theophile Church in Bradenton is certainly in the
permissive will of God who wants to demonstrate
His loyalty and power to us. This sudden burst of
life of this congregation is obviously not a flash
in the pan, but rather the beginning of what we
might call “a new birth”.

Preparations are already underway for the celebration of the anniversary of Theophile Church
of Bradenton on June 12 and 13. Delegations
from other Theophile churches are expected this
weekend of celebration that takes, of course, a
different dimension this year.
I always thought musical instruments, a large
choir, microphones, loudspeakers, a well decorated stage, a projector and an enormous audience was absolutely necessary in a sanctuary to
praise God with dignity. Well, NO! I realized I
was completely wrong, because during the worship service on Sunday, May 30, 2010 which I
had the chance to attend, Theophile church
of Bradenton vibrated to the sound of clapping
hands, memorable voices, heartfelt prayers and
hymns of hope.
The biblical passage found in Ezekiel 37V 1-14,
chosen by the Rev. Dr. Roland Joseph, epitomized this picture we could compare with this
valley full of desiccated bones that would revive
and live again through the power of God. “Thus
says the Lord GOD to these bones: Behold, I
will cause breath to enter you, and you shall
live. And I will lay sinews upon you, and will
cause flesh to come upon you, and cover you
with skin, and put breath in you, and you shall

“… I will put breath in you, you shall live.” That
is the assurance that the Lord gives to His people.
To all those who love God and have faith, let’s
lean against these words and quickly get back on
the task. They will certainly have the last word.

En Avril 2008, l’Église Théophile d’Atlanta fêtait ses 28 ans d’exixtence. l’éditorial de circonstance se présentait comme étant une sensibilistaion au déracinement du mal incarné dans l’être humain et, par ricochet, à la culture du bien, seule porte de sortie pour ceux qui aspirent à la victoire. Deux ans plus tard il apparaît opportun de
faire un bref rappel de ce qui a été écrit et qui se lit comme suit:
Pour que vive la vision Théophilienne, il faudra:
ABATTRE le mur de la division
COUPER les racines du mal incarné
CUEILLIR les roses du bien retrouvé
FAUCHER les mauvaises herbes de la haine
RÉCOLTER les bons fruits de l’Amour
GAGNER en s’ouvrant aux autres
DÉTRUIRE à jamais les mauvaises pensées
TUER pour toujours les mauvaises mentalités
Et...Lorsque tout cela aura été fait, nous pourrons:
ENSEMENCER d’espoir notre environnement
ÉPARGNER (suvegarder) nos diverses ressources pour mieux avancer
SEMER la paix, l’union, l’harmonie et la bonne humeur
DISPERSER la bonne nouvelle par l’Évangélisation

Facing Giants

We all will face giants at one time or another in
our lives. By giants, I am speaking of what seem to be
insurmountable problems and issues. We try to fell
these giants, but often they seem to only grow
stronger with the passing of time.
It could be a giant of fear. Or it might be a giant of
some type of personal sin that you fall into again and
again. It might be the sin of pride or envy or gluttony
or lust or something else. In a related way, your giant
might be one of addiction, something that has a grip
on your life. Then again, it could be a giant of threat
that is taunting you today. Someone has slandered
you. A lawsuit has been filed against you. Maybe
there is even a threat against your very life.
Or it might be a different kind of giant altogether, like
an unbelieving spouse or a prodigal child. You have
prayed for them. You have asked the Lord to reach
them, yet they seem to become more hardened by sin
as the years pass by. You find yourself wondering
how you will ever overcome this.
So how do we deal with giants? We find the answer in
the Old Testament account of David and Goliath.
Most of us are familiar with the story. What a victory
it was as David boldly defeated the giant Goliath,
armed only with a slingshot and five smooth stones.
The will of the Philistines was broken. The Israelites
were reinvigorated. And it was all because a little
shepherd boy answered the call of God and cut down
the giant.
So what can we learn from this story about facing off
with our own giants in life?
While it is true we all have giants, it is also true that
every giant can be defeated. After all, giants rarely
start out that way. Goliath was not always a giant. He
was not always nine-feet-six-inches tall. He was once
a baby. And with the passing of time and the nurture
of others, the baby became a child. And the child became a teenager. And the teenager became a man.
And the man turned into a giant.
In the same way, giants often begin quite small. When
we have a big sin in our lives, it started as a little sin
that was allowed, nurtured, fed, and even encouraged,
and then became a giant that taunts us. It started with
a so-called Christian liberty that we proclaimed and is
now getting the best of us. In time, little things become big things.
Two, realize the battle belongs to the Lord. David told
Goliath, “This is the Lord’s battle, and he will give
you to us!” (1 Samuel 17:47 NLT). That is why giants
defeat us again and again, because we face them in
our own strength and we lose. We need to realize this
is the Lord’s battle.
Three, attack your giant. Goliath had come into the
actual territory of the Israelites. He had crossed their
line. He was taunting them. And if you tolerate a Goliath, he will take over your territory. He will come
right up on your doorstep. That is why you don’t run
from giants. You don’t negotiate with them. You attack them. The Bible tells us, “As Goliath moved
closer to attack, David quickly ran out to meet him”
(verse 48 NLT). As the enemy drew closer, David ran
right at him.
Whatever your giant might be, force it into the light
of day. Stop rationalizing it. Stop excusing it. Realize
you can’t defeat it in your own strength. Call on God
and pray for His power, and then attack it. Draw lines
and be accountable to others. Stay away from people
or situations where you would be easily tempted. And
don’t let that giant back into your life again.
Finally, trust in the Lord. Don’t look at God in the
light of your giant; look at your giant in the light of
God.
One, recognize that we all have giants. We all face
severe hardships, seemingly insurmountable obstacles
and temptations. We all have problems. We all have
temptations. We read in 1 Corinthians 10:13, “The
temptations in your life are no different from what
others experience. And God is faithful. He will not
allow the temptation to be more than you can stand.

IS IT ETHICAL?”

Ethics has always been an important element in the lives
of people especially the uplift of society. As one become
aware of the struggles of how one judges an act as right or
wrong or as good or evil in the life of the early Christian,
raises the question of what is ethic? According to the Webster’s dictionary, “ethics is defined as principles of moral
conduct, the study of morals, the good, and the right”. It
is obvious that we are all thinkers; and often times we try to
make sense of ourselves and the people around us. When
people encounters and responds to the ethical challenges,
they often try to explain what they did, why they did it and
how they will respond in the future. Upon reading Paul’s
letter, I find that he was very concerned about what is going on in the lives of his audience. His writings set challenges on how people suppose to live a life that reflects the
One they serve. In my opinion, Paul is trying to tell us that
there is a logical connection between what we believe and
how we live our lives. For instance, Paul stated: "walk by
the Spirit" (Gal 5:16). As children of light, we are constantly being watched by the world and others. One important question needs to be asked? "Are we setting a good
example?" The apostle Paul answered this question in the
book of Thessalonica where he worked to pay for his own
food even when it was not necessary (2 Thessalonians
3:6-13). Paul explained his reasoning and provided the
believers with "an example to follow."
Unfortunately, this generation doesn’t have too many
leaders left like Paul who was a role model. Our churches
are witnessing too many performances causing them to
disregard some so-called leaders who are using the Bible to
build their own kingdom. Is it ethical? Paul advised
Christian leaders to be an example. To Titus Paul wrote,
"Show yourself in all respects a model of good works,
and in your teaching show integrity, gravity, and sound
speech that cannot be censured" (Titus 2:7-8). Timothy
was ordered to "set an example for the believers in
speech and conduct, in love, in faith, in purity" (1 Timothy 4:12).
Gregory Nazianzen, a fourth century bishop of Constantinople, was tempted to remove himself from leadership of
the church. He was troubled by the immense responsibility

of setting an example and feared leading people off track
when it came to making moral decisions. He concluded
that pastors were only able to risk leading others because
they trusted in the one he called a "Shepherd to shepherds and a Guide to guides." Among us today, it’s a
shame to see some who call themselves “leaders” are doing
to Christianity. The question is “What would Jesus do?"
Often times, many believers are publicly expressing the
desire to follow the world leaders who themselves are not
following the real leader who is Jesus-Christ. When Paul
told believers to follow him as he is following Christ, it
was "not out of apostolic arrogance… rather out of the peculiar nature of gospel ethics." In the course of a discussion, a leader might say something like: “That’s my right”
and most of us probably agree that all people have rights.
Difficulties arise when various rights conflict with each
other; however, religion is an important source of ethical
theory and a profound motivation for ethical action and
doing the right thing even when no one is looking. In
1963, Martin Luther King was criticized by the Southern
Baptist ministers for breaking the law. An unjust law, King
said, is a law that violates the laws of God. For him, God
is a God of justice. What kind of laws some of our socalled leaders are following today? Some of them are using the Bible to enrich themselves rather than spreading the
gospel to save souls. As Booker T. Washington states:
“Success waits patiently for anyone who has the determination and strengths to seize it” let us not step over the
gospel to reach our worldly goals and most importantly let
us not destroy our local churches but be like Christ in all
we do. It is important to know that integrity has more
value than money and it usually gets God’s attention.
Those who are called to leadership are also called to set
an example for others to follow. Modeling the Christian
life and the decision-making process may seem a difficult
task. However, the Christian leader is not expected to set
the example without a guide. Leaders can set a good example by following the best leader, Jesus Christ. While the
question "What Would Jesus Do?" will not direct the
leader through specific moral mazes, Jesus’ life does provide a guiding story.
Jesus also provided a two-prong hook on which to hang an
ethical framework: devotion to God and love for others.
Christian’s ethics must be grounded in love and focus on
pleasing God in the areas of both being (ethically and morally) and doing (obedience to God’s Word and the Holy
