Musicians of all levels, from beginners to advanced,
are very welcome to come along and play whatever
they have prepared or simply listen in a friendly
atmosphere.
Born in Tokyo, Naomi Takagi began to play the
piano at the age of 8 in Anchorage Alaska. She
continued her studies at the Suzuki Institute in Japan,
Banff Center of Music in Canada, University of
Washington and the New England Conservatory in
America. While working at Wellesley College in
Boston, she took up the organ in preparation for a
European concert tour with the College. Her eventual
exposure to the «Passacaglia» by Johann Sebastian
Bach as well as her internship at the music division of
the Smithsonian Institute in Washington D.C. played a
pivotal role in her decision to study the organ with
James David Christie in the USA, Lionel Rogg in
Switzerland, and Jean Ferrard in Belgium.
She has won many piano competitions and has
appeared as soloist with various orchestras including
the Seattle Symphony Orchestra and the Boston
Philharmonic
Orchestra.
She
has
recorded
contemporary piano music for various composers and
was the finalist of the Swiss International Organ
Competition one year after she commenced her organ
studies. She is currently the organist of the St.
Andrew's Church of Scotland.
