Press Release – For Immediate Release Direction emploi joined the YMCA Dartmouth, April 15, 2016 – The Conseil communautaire du Grand-­‐Havre (CCGH) and the YMCA of Greater Halifax/Dartmouth are pleased to announce that Direction emploi will join the YMCA Employment Centres of the HRM area in the coming months to offer employment services in French. On April 4th, the province announced the reorganization of the employment services system. This reorganization aims to better meet the needs of employers and job seekers. In the announcement, it says « The new system will include increased focus on finding opportunities for youth, more effective support with businesses, expansion of services for vulnerable populations, better access to services online and through mobile offices. » Employees of Direction emploi say they welcome the opportunity to continue serving Francophones in the YMCA. "We are excited to expand our services to the Acadian and Francophone community by adding youth and employers in our field of activities," says the Coordinator Nancy Hayes. According to Executive Director of the CCGH Martin Théberge, "Our priority is to be able to continue offering employment assistance services to the Acadian and Francophone community served by the CCGH. This partnership also allows us to explore other opportunities and avenues for collaboration between CCGH and the YMCA. The creation of this partnership is a very exciting time for our community!". “The YMCA is a leader in developing and delivering relevant employment services in Canada,” says Barbara Miller Nix, Chief Operating Officer, Public Sector Partnerships for the YMCA. “We’re looking forward to expanding our services to meet the needs of not only job seekers and employers, but the diverse needs of our Acadian and Francophone community.” Employment assistance services to Francophones will migrate slowly to the YMCA Employment Centres, with full integration happening by July 1st, 2016.
