WHY ARCHITECTURE
Architects Description WHY ARCHITECTURE WHY, a Brussels-based studio founded by Yannick Denayer, focuses on architecture, urban planning and design. The studio is especially interested in a wide range of experiences with type, scale and location; this allows it to challenge pre-conceived ideas and codes in every one of its projects. While working within a project's particular constraints and site specificities, WHY seeks to expand the original commission, to incorporate an investigation of contemporary society's ceaseless evolution in terms of how we interact, live in spaces, relax, learn, work and consume. Our design methodology is the result of a collective effort by the studio's staff. To expand our perspective and our expertise, the project team regularly calls on outside architects, engineers, designers and consultants. 40/13 rue du Zodiaque 1190 Brussels Tél : +32 (0)2 325 70 25 Fax : +32 (0)2 325 70 26 [email protected] http://www.whyarchitecture.eu OTHER PROJECTS : Generis - Residential towers - 2010-2011 - Chengdu Creation 2007 Associates Yannick DENAYER °1976, Belge Fondateur de WHY (2007) Architecte (ISA Victor Horta 2000) Reine Astrid - Public square - 2009 - Visé Publications (Un)City - (Un)Real State of the (Un)Known (10/2012) Ecole Hôtelière - Hotel boarding school - 2009-... - Namur Istanbul Design Biennial 2012 Exhibition of Wallonie-Bruxelles Architectures at Istanbul Museum of Modern Art Curator : Cédric Libert Book accompanying the exhibition Publisher : Frédéric Delcor / Philippe Suinen Waterloo - Housing and commercial space - 2011-... - Uccle Jardin de Poche - Installation - 2004 2004 - Bruxelles BELGIAN SPIRIT (11/2011) Hong-Kong Business of Design Week (BoDW) 2011 Collective exhibition of the Belgian architecture, fashion & design sectors Curators : Li Mei Tsien, Sébastien Cruyt, Marie Pok CTRL CE (01/2006) International Architecture Exhibition (BE, IT, ES, EC, GR) Event curator Brussels : Yannick Denayer, Samuel Dufaux & Cédric Herthoge Exhibition catalogue Publisher : Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Page 1 / 2 http://www.wbarchitectures.be/en/architects/WHY_architecture/254/ Preservation of Columbia University BELGIO (05/2003) Publisher : ABITARE n°428 (IT) Floating Islands (09/2002) Biennale di Venezia 2002 8th International Architecture Exhibition - Belgian Pavilion Curator : Maurizio Cohen Assistants : Yannick Denayer, Laurence Creyf, Cédric Steenwerckx Exhibition catalogue Publisher : La Lettre Volée / Ministère de la Communauté française de Belgique, 2002 Page 2 / 2 http://www.wbarchitectures.be/en/architects/WHY_architecture/254/
