Biographical note: Martin Sullivan
Martin Sullivan was appointed to the Board of Directors of the Bank of Canada in
December 2014.
Mr. Sullivan is from Calvert, Newfoundland. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce
(Honours) degree and a Master of Business Administration degree from Memorial
University.
Mr. Sullivan is the President, CEO and co-founder of Ocean Choice International, which
is one of the largest and most diversified seafood companies in Atlantic Canada. Based in
St. John’s and employing more than 1,600 people, the company has received multiple
awards and certifications. These include the Newfoundland Export Award for
International Marketing, the Canada Export Award, and the Newfoundland and Labrador
Export & Innovation Award.
Mr. Sullivan has been actively involved in promoting the sustainable management and
development of the fisheries sector, participating in numerous organizations and
associations. He served as Founding Director of the NL Association of Seafood
Producers, as Advisor to the Government of Canada’s Northwest Atlantic Fisheries
Organization and, from 2011 to 2012, as Chair of the Fisheries Council of Canada.
He has also participated as a speaker and presenter at a variety of industry events, and has
presented to both the Chief Negotiator for CETA and the Bank of Canada’s Board of
Directors.

Martin Sullivan a été nommé membre du Conseil d’administration de la Banque du
Canada en décembre 2014.
M. Sullivan est originaire de Calvert (Terre-Neuve-et-Labrador). Il est titulaire d’un
baccalauréat spécialisé en commerce et d’une maîtrise en administration des affaires de
l’Université Memorial.
M. Sullivan est président, chef de la direction et cofondateur d’Ocean Choice
International, l’une des entreprises de fruits de mer les plus importantes et diversifiées du
Canada atlantique. Située à St. John’s, l’entreprise, qui compte plus de 1 600 employés, a
reçu un grand nombre d’attestations et de prix, dont le Newfoundland Export Award for
International Marketing, le Prix d’excellence à l’exportation canadienne, et le
Newfoundland and Labrador Export and Innovation Award.
M. Sullivan a participé activement à la promotion de la gestion et du développement
durables du secteur de la pêche, collaborant au sein de nombreuses organisations et
associations. Il a assumé les fonctions de directeur fondateur de l’Association of Seafood
Producers de Terre-Neuve-et-Labrador, de conseiller auprès de l’Organisation des pêches
de l’Atlantique Nord-Ouest du gouvernement du Canada et, de 2011 à 2012, de président
du Conseil canadien des pêches.
En outre, il a été conférencier et présentateur à l’occasion de diverses activités de
l’industrie, et a fait des exposés à l’intention du négociateur en chef de l’Accord
économique et commercial global et du Conseil d’administration de la Banque du
Canada.
