Ouistreham Riva-Bella was honored to welcome the ceremony of the 70th anniversary of the Landing and le
Battle of Normandy in 2014. To mark this exceptional event in the landscape of the city, the City of Ouistreham
Riva-Bella will realize a “Promenade for Peace” on the beach, where the ceremony took place. This
Promenade will perpetuate messages of Peace and Unity that were convey during this day which get together
countries and veterans of the Second Word War, on June 6th 2014.
To give a strong international value of this memorial project destined for young generations, the City of
Ouistreham Riva-Bella addressed a demand of participation to foreign nations and to the cities of France. One
nation and several cities chose to support us in this project.
To present the progress of this call for donation, Romain Bail, Mayor of Ouistreham Riva-Bella – Vice president
of the agglomeration Caen la mer in charge of littoral and tourism will hold a press conference on :

Each country that will make a donation will be represented on the Promenade thanks to a visual. Names of
the cities of France will be written on a wall “the Wall of Peace”, along the walkway. Finally, this year the City

will launch a campaign of participatory financing towards the public in order to give the possibility to everyone
to participate.
