Mount on construction paper and laminate. To Start Two students shuffle their set of cards well and place all of them face down in rows. To Play Players take turns flipping over two cards at a time. For each card flipped, the player must read the word or name the picture. If the two cards turned up do not match, the cards are replaced face down and the next player takes a turn. Game can be played with matching words, matching pictures or matching words to pictures. Play until all the cards are matched. Object For each player to collect as many pairs as possible. GO FISH! To Make Make a set of copies of small flash cards for each student. Mount on construction paper and laminate. To Start Two students shuffle and deal themselves five cards. Place the remainder of the deck face down, spread all around as if the cards are “fish” in a pond. To Play Both players look at the cards they‛ve been dealt but do not show their hand to the other player. The first player asks the other player for a card to match one that s/he has in her/ his hand. “Do you have a…?” If the opponent has the card, the opponent gives the card to the first player who may then take another turn. If the opponent does not have a match, s/he says “Go Fish!” and the first player must draw from the remaining deck of cards. Each time a player has a matching pair or complete set s/he must place the set down, face up for both to see. Continue playing until all the cards are used up. Object For each player to collect as many complete sets or to “reel in as many fish” as possible.
