Post-doctoral position at the Obesity Research Unit (I2MC, UPS
Post-doctoral position at the Obesity Research Unit (I2MC, UPS/INSERM 1048), Toulouse, France The position is open from September 2014 for 1 year with possibility of extension a second year. The scientific program, within the frame of the Innovative Medicines Initiative (IMI) and the European Medical Information Framework EMIF. The EMIF-metabolic topic focuses on characterizing individuals and identifying markers associated with metabolic risk. It uses complementary approaches for studying extreme phenotypes and population-based cohorts and identifying novel risk biomarkers and therapeutic targets. This project is part of the Obesity Research Laboratory topics and especially those relevant to bioinformatic and biostatistics development, including network based approaches, for high throughput analyses of human adipose tissue ‘omics. The project is based on data from microarrays, RNASeq, high throughput RT-qPCR , lipidomics and clinical data. Notably, the candidate will investigate subcutaneous adipose tissue transcriptome profiles in extreme responders to weight reducing diets. It requires the knowledge of methods for high throughput analysis of data (R, SIMCA-P) and network analyses. Applicants must hold a relevant PhD degree, experience in biostatistics and, if possible, bioinformatics with 2 years of experience. Command of English language is required. Knowledge of tranSMART and eTRIKS platforms is a significant advantage. The candidate needs excellent communication and organisational skills as expected for contribution to collaborative work with colleagues at the Institute of Cardiovascular and Metabolic Diseases (I2MC) and within the EMIF consortium.
