The two main airframe companies in Belgium, Fairey S.A. and SABCA, together with F.N. for the J79 engines, and M.B.L.E. (Manufacture Beige de Lampes e ' de Materiel Llectronique) and other national companies for equipment, were integrated in December 1960 into the NASMO western Group for production of the F-I04G. This" originally included W Germany and the Netherlands, later augmented by Italy. The Belgian assembly line for the Starfighter was established at sselies. by Fairey, where responsibility was undertaken for the completion of 194 Starfighters. Of these, 30 were assembled from riai-built components for the Italian air force, while 75 were Produced for the Belgian air force and 89 for the Luftwaffe. In the joint production programme between the Belgian companies, the German consortium, Fokker and Fiat, a total of 949 F-104Gs were originally due for completion this year, bui these Starfighters may well be augmented by further orders. Belgium is also involved in another NATO production programme, for the Breguet Atlantic anti-submarine patroller. Both Fairey and SABCA are producing airframe components for the Atlantic within ABAP (Association Beige pour I'Avion Patrouilleur), which also includes F.N. as a member of the NATO consortium for Tyne construction. Yel another NATO production project in which SABCA is participating is thai for the Hawk surface-to-air missile, as part of the SETEL consortium. Apart from contributions to the ELDO and ESRO European space programmes, however, the Belgian aircraft industry has no further main commitments with the completion of the F-l 04G
