Cleaning instructions
Before and after each use, clean the thermometer
with a soft cloth and 70% isopropyl alcohol diluted
with water, or wash with COLD soapy water. An
intact unit can be submersed in water or alcohol:
however, do not soak in either for an extended
period of time.

1. The unit must never be sterilized by boiling,
gas or steam.
2. The use of any other solution or cleaning method
beyond the above mentioned may result in
reliability problems with the thermometer and
void its warranty.

How to switch between °C and °F
3.1 Taking an oral temperature
NOTE: Drinking hot or cold fluids, exercising,
smoking or performing other activities may raise
or lower body temperature. It is important to
relax for approximately 5 minutes, mouth closed
prior to taking a reading.
1. Place the probe tip under the tongue as near
as possible to the heat pocket, close your
mouth and avoid moving the unit. Your mouth
should remain closed until 4 beeps are heard
to indicate that temperature reading is
complete (30-45 seconds).

(0.2°F) difference with real temperature, and

What is a “normal” body temperature reading?
Although the generally accepted “normal” temperature is 37.0°C (98.6°F), it can vary from 36.1°C
(97°F) to 37.2°C (99°F) and still be considered “normal”. Variations in temperature can be
attributed to activities such as exercise, smoking, eating and drinking. Even time of day may influence
your temperature. For example, your temperature is lower in the morning than it is in the afternoon.
Temperature also varies according to the chosen temperature reading site: while oral temperature
follows the guidelines described above, rectal temperature is generally 0.6°C (1.0°F) higher, and
axillary temperature 0.6°C (1.0°F) lower.

2. It is suggested that thermometers used for rectal
measurements be kept separate from those used
for oral or axillary measurements, for hygienic
reasons.
3. This thermometer's measurement range is
32°C (89.6°F) to 43.9°C (111.0°F). If the
temperature detected is outside of this range,
the LCD will display: H°C (H°F) for too high
or L°C (L°F) for too low.
How to take your temperature
1. Decide whether the measurement will be oral,
underarm or rectal.
2. Press On/Off button. When the °F (°C) symbol
starts flashing (this takes approx. 2 seconds),
the thermometer is ready for use.
3.2 Taking an axillary temperature
(under the arm)
NOTE : results with this method are usually
0.5°C - 1°C lower than if measured orally.
1. Wipe armpit with dry towel then place the
probe tip under the arm so the tip is touching
skin, with the thermometer perpendicular to the
body. Position the arm across the chest so the
probe tip is well covered by the arm. This also
ensures that the probe is not affected by the
room’s air. 4 beeps will sound to indicate that
temperature reading is complete (45-55
seconds).
3.3 Taking a rectal temperature
NOTE : Rectal temperatures are an appropriate
and reliable method for infants and small
children. Otherwise, this method should only be
used when it is impossible or impractical to take
an oral or axillary temperature.
1. Apply a water-soluble lubricant to the tip.
Insert the probe into rectum MAXIMUM 1 cm
(½”) until 4 beeps indicate that temperature
reading is complete (approx. 30 seconds).
4. The power will be shut off automatically after
approximately 10 minutes.
General care
1. This thermometer should only be used
under the supervision of an adult.
2. Do not walk, run or talk while using
the thermometer.
3. Clean the thermometer as directed before and
after each use.
4. Store the unit in the protective case when
not in use.
5. Do not bite the probe.
6. Do not store the unit where it will be exposed
to direct sunlight, dust or humidity.
Avoid extreme temperatures.
7. Dropping or subjecting your thermometer
to strong shocks should be avoided.
8. Do not attempt to disassemble the unit,
except to replace the battery.
9. If ERR displays and measurement is not
attainable, the unit must be replaced.
Changing the battery
The battery in your digital thermometer needs to be
replaced when the symbol
appears in the
middle right of the display. Replace the battery with
a 1.55 Vdc battery, type SR41, LR41, UCC392 or
equivalent.
1. Slide the battery cap away from the unit.
2. Using a non-metal pointed tool, carefully
remove the battery and insert the new battery
with the positive (+) side up.
3. Carefully slide the battery cap back into place,
making sure that the cap fits snugly to protect
the battery compartment from moisture.
Note: Please properly dispose of the battery away
from small children and heat.

Pour nettoyer votre thermomètre
Avant et après chaque utilisation, nettoyez ce
thermomètre avec un linge doux imbibé d'alcool à
friction (70 %) dilué avec de l'eau, ou avec de l'eau
FROIDE savonneuse. Un appareil intact peut être
immergé pendant une très courte période dans de
l'eau ou de l'alcool.

gaz ou à l’eau bouillante.
2. Tout détergent ou méthode de nettoyage

3.1 Méthode orale
Note : boire, faire de l’exercice physique, fumer
ou toute autre activité peut faire varier votre
température. Nous vous recommandons de
vous détendre, la bouche fermée, pour au moins
5 minutes avant de prendre votre température.
1. Placez l'embout du thermomètre sous la
langue, le plus près possible d'une poche de
chaleur. Fermez votre bouche et gardez le
thermomètre immobile. 4 « bip » indiqueront
que la lecture est complète (30 à 45 secondes).

Quelle est la température dite « normale »?
2. Pour des raisons d'hygiène, nous vous
recommandons de ranger séparément les
thermomètres réservés à l'usage rectal de ceux
réservés à l'usage oral ou axillaire.
3. Ce thermomètre détecte les températures entre
32°C (89,6°F) et 43,9°C (111,0°F). Un message
d'erreur apparaîtra à l'écran si la température
détectée est plus élevée (H°C ou H°F) ou plus
basse (L°C ou L°F).
Bien que la température corporelle « normale » soit considérée comme étant de 37°C (98,6°F),
elle varie en fait de 36,1°C (97°F) à 37,2°C (99°F). Les activités quotidiennes (exercice, fumer,
manger ou boire) ainsi que le moment de la journée (matin, midi ou soir) font varier la température
corporelle. Même la méthode de prise de température influence le résultat: en effet, alors que la
température orale correspond généralement aux normes énumérées, la température rectale sera
généralement 0,6°C (1°F) supérieure, tandis qu’une prise de température axillaire sera
généralement 0,6°C (1°F) inférieure.

Comment prendre votre température
3.2 Méthode axillaire (sous l’aisselle)
NOTE: Les résultats obtenus par cette méthode
sont généralement 0,6°C (1°F) plus bas que
ceux obtenus par la méthode orale.
1. Essuyez l'aisselle à l'aide d'une serviette
sèche. Placez le bout de la sonde sous le bras
afin qu'elle touche la peau et que le
thermomètre soit perpendiculaire au corps.
Placez le bras sur la poitrine afin que la sonde
du thermomètre soit bien couverte, pour éviter
que l’air ambiant fausse la lecture. 4 « bip »
indiqueront que la lecture est complète
(45 à 55 secondes ).
3.3 Méthode rectale
NOTE: Cette méthode est fiable et indiquée
pour prendre la température chez les bébés et
les jeunes enfants. Dans les autres cas, elle ne
doit être employée que lorsqu'il est impossible
ou difficile de la prendre autrement.
1. Enduire l'embout du thermomètre d'un
lubrifiant soluble à l'eau. Insérer la sonde dans
le rectum MAXIMUM 1 cm (½”) jusqu'à ce que
4 « bip » indiquent que la lecture est complète
(30 secondes).
4. Ce thermomètre s'éteindra de lui-même après
10 minutes.
Entretien général
1. Ce thermomètre ne doit être utilisé que sous la
supervision d’un adulte.
2. Ne pas marcher, parler ou courir pendant la
prise de température.
3. Nettoyez toujours le thermomètre avant et
après chaque utilisation.
4. Rangez toujours le thermomètre dans son étui
protecteur.
5. Ne pas mordre le thermomètre.
6. Gardez le thermomètre à l'abri du soleil, de la
poussière et de l'humidité, ainsi que des
températures extrêmes.
7. Évitez d’échapper le thermomètre ou de le
soumettre à un choc.
8. Ne tentez pas de désassembler le thermomètre,
sauf pour en remplacer la pile.
9. Si le thermomètre affiche « ERR » et qu'une
prise de température est impossible, remplacez
le thermomètre.
Changer la pile
La pile doit être remplacée lorsque le symbole
«
» apparaît dans le bas de l'écran. Utilisez
une pile de 1.55 Vdc de type SR41, LR41, UCC392
ou l’équivalent.
1. Retirez le couvercle du compartiment à pile.
2. Retirez la pile à l’aide d’un outil pointu non
métallique. Placez le nouvelle pile dans le
réceptacle, en orientant le côté positif (+)
vers le haut.
3. Replacez le couvercle, en vous assurant qu’il est
bien serré afin de protéger la pile de l'humidité.
Note : Disposez de la pile de façon sécuritaire
(hors de portée des enfants et loin de la chaleur).
