To start the meeting off, six presentations about the use of EAC-CPF in our APEx partner countries allowed for a comparison of the country-specific status quo of EAC-CPF profiles and laid the foundation for further dialogue. Against this backdrop it was possible to gather fresh ideas for the Archives Portal Europe: possibilities such as providing a "search entry via persons, families and corporate bodies", "linking to other cultural heritage data via persons, families and corporate bodies", "creating an European archival authority file" or the question on how to "extend archival information on persons, families and corporate bodies by linking to existing authority files (eg VIAF), projects (eg SNAC) or other sources (eg Wikipedia)" are just a few topics that were examined. Even more inspiring for the Archives Portal Europe was Daniel Pitti’s (University of Virginia) presentation as Project Director of the SNAC project (The Social Networks and Archival Context Project) and the NAAC (National Archival Authorities Cooperative). He highlighted features that could possibly be re-used in the Archives Portal Europe and shared his ideas for further enhancing the portal's overall proficiency. The presentations, agenda and list of participants etc of the meeting can be found here. You can find a review of this meeting by Anna Laszuk (NDAP) in Polish here. Project co-funded by the European Commission within the ICT Policy Support Programme 1 APEx evaluation in February 2013 Since the beginning of this year, a variety of actions have already been taken by WP4 and WP6 in order to evaluate and improve the portal: x All in all, eleven APEx partner countries participated in the evaluation of the handling of the back-end of the Archives Portal Europe by conducting interviews and task observations with archivists in situ (Austria/ICARUS, Croatia, Estonia, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Malta, Portugal and The Netherlands). x So far, 174 users of the Archives Portal Europe have participated in the online questionnaire. x The focus group carried out their evaluation within the Country Manager workshop in Pisa on 30 January 2013. x The results of the webtracking via Google Analytics have been analysed. x The deliverables D4.2/D6.3 are currently being prepared. WP4 and WP6 would like to thank all participants for their very fruitful cooperation: thank you to all the test persons, observers, the APEx evaluation core group and the focus group participants!
