Les trois hommes seront poursuivis sous une accusation de ‘conspiracy to do an unlawful act, namely effecting public mischief in breach of Section 109 of the Criminal Code (Supplementary) Act coupled with Section 298 of the Criminal Code’. 8 2 14 April 2016 DATE Censor Board should be put in garbage can, says Mukesh Bhatt Bollywood producer Mukesh Bhatt says it is a shame on the country if a film like ‘The Jungle Book’ is given ‘U/A’ certificate. Bhatt also suggested some serious thinking is needed about the censor board. “The Jungle Book”, based on Rudyard Kipling’s stories based in India, is an American fantasy-adventure film directed by “Iron Man” helmer Jon Favreau, written by Justin Marks, and produced by Walt Disney Pictures. The Indian audience will get to watch the movie from tomorrow, a week before the US release. “That (‘The Jungle Book’ getting U/A certificate) shows how crazy this country has become. We have lost the marbles, sorry to say that. If ‘Jungle Book’ is getting U/A certificate, then the government should do some serious thinking about CBFC,” Bhatt told reporters at Gima awards in Mumbai last night. “If you ask me CBFC should be put in garbage can, that is the right place for the CBFC,” he said. The Central Board of Film Certification has given the “Jungle Book” a U/A certificate for being “too scary”. When asked about CBFC chief Pahlaj Nihalani’s reasoning behind the U/A certification, Mukesh said, “I am not talking about Nihalani. He is just a stooge of the people who have put him there. There has to be some radical thinking. If a ‘Jungle Book’ can get a U/A, shame on India.” Meanwhile, actor Ayushmann Khurrana too is surprised with “The Jungle Book” getting U/A certificate. “It’s unbelievable. I don’t know what’s the criteria behind the certification. May be, it is because of the 3D images of Bhageera and Sherkhan bouncing-off the screen. These days kids are used to reading story books and watching Captain America, and after all these are animated films,” he said. The singer-actor recollected that as a child he used to be excited while watching the “Jungle Book” series on the small screen. (Source: www.mid-day.com) Deepika Padukone Seems To Be Confused Between Ranbir And Ranveer, But Only For Professional Reasons! We all know that Deepika Padukone is currently busy shooting for her Hollywood debut xXx: The Return of Xander Cage alongside Vin Diesel in the US. But looks like the actress will have to make a tough choice when she comes back to India. This, between Ranveer Singh and Ranbir Kapoor. According to reports, Deepika has been offered two Hindi films, one with Ranveer and the other with Ranbir. But sadly, she has dates only for one. According to a source, “When Deepika recently flew in to Mumbai for a few days, she met Ranbir to Bollowood SRK, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Sonam Kapoor, Alia Bhatt’s best line up to meet British royals From superstars like Shah Rukh Khan, Madhuri Dixit and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan to young talent like Parineeti Chopra and Huma Qureshi — the best of Bollywood extended a warm welcome to British Royals Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton in Mumbai. The reception on Sunday (April 10) night at The Taj Mahal Palace Hotel, Mumbai saw the creme de la creme of the film, sport and business society come together at the hotel for a glittering evening with the royal couple to raise funds for organisations including Childline India, Magic Bus and Door Step School, India. Bollywood’s top-rated star Shah Rukh Khan, who looked dapper in a tuxedo and a bow-tie, and was the host for the evening with Aishwarya, tweeted: “The royal couple was so gracious and full of poise. Tonight as I said is the night of the King, the Queen and the Knights. Wish all nights were same.” Madhuri, the dancing diva of the tinsel town, looked ethereal in a sari for the gala, where she was accompanied by her husband Shriram Nene. “It was a pleasure meeting their highnesses, William and Kate. Very gracious and down to earth,” Madhuri tweeted after the event. From the snapshots that the stars have shared on social media, it is evident that special efforts were made to offer a true Indian flavour for the British Royal couple on their first visit to India. The stars, which included names like Rishi Kapoor, Neetu Kapoor, Karan Johar, Anil Kapoor, Aditi Rao Hydari, Alia Bhatt, Farhan Akhtar, Jacqueline Fernandez, Sophie Choudry, Sonam Kapoor, Arjun Kapoor, singer Kanika Kapoor, were dressed elegantly — mostly in creations by designer Manish Malhotra, but Duchess of Cambridge, who is known for her style, stood out in a blue gown for the evening. Interestingly, the celebrities lined up to shake hands with the couple. The decor was done majorly in marigold, and the centerpieces at the table were carefully chosen — it is seen in images shared by the British Asian Trust. As described by Huma, the gala dinner was “a royal affair”. On their tour, the royal couple will also attend a lunch hosted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Tuesday, visit Kaziranga National Park in Assam, take a break for a trip to Bhutan, and return to Agra in Uttar Pradesh to view the Taj Mahal. The live-action version of the 1967 Disney classic features a massive star-studded cast, including Ben Kingsley, Scarlett Johansson, Idris Elba, Bill Murray, and Lupita Nyong’o, who all lend their voices to bring to life the beloved characters in Mowgli’s story. “The original film was the only time Walt Disney had celebrity casting, so I felt that in keeping with that tradition, I wanted to hire people whose voices were recognizable. It turned into something [where] the cast was able to breathe life in humanity into these digital characters,” said Jungle Book director Jon Favreau to The Hollywood Reporter. Among the cast was newcomer Neel Sethi, whose role as Mowgli is his first major film appearance. He discussed how Favreau helped him through the first stages of filming. “Yes, it was a little hard,” Sethi said, “but Jon really helped me through it all. There were puppets there and he got into the puppets and interacted with me and that made it a lot of fun.” The film has been noted for its impressive digital and CGI effects, which turned the soundstages at LA Center Studios in Downtown Los Angeles, where The Jungle Book was filmed, into the remote Indian jungle. A major element of the film is the music, which composer John Debney touched upon in trying to balance the soundtrack people have come to know and love with his own take on the original score. “We knew going in that we wanted to honor the music of the original so we utilized a lot of the original. My job was to kind of take all the colonels of the original and yet to bring it to this new contemporary world,” said Debney. A big discussion of the evening was how audiences who are very attached to the original film would react to a remake of this childhood staple. In particular, how parents would re-enchant their children with the original version by pairing it with this contemporary one. “It felt like it could live like a companion piece, that every parent should show their child the 1967 movie and then you can watch this movie and find them complementary to each other. I felt like we weren’t attempting to replace or erase anything, but to add to the legend of this universal story that every generation should probably have retold for them,” said the film’s producer Brigham Taylor. ingjay - Part 2 (Lionsgate) Trainwreck (Universal Pictures) BEST KISS Rebel Wilson & Adam DeVine -- Pitch Perfect 2 (Universal Pictures) **WINNER Amy Schumer & Bill Hader -- Trainwreck (Universal Pictures) Dakota Johnson & Jamie Dornan -- Fifty Shades of Grey (Universal Pictures) Leslie Mann & Chris Hemsworth -- Vacation (Warner Bros.) It was a day to remember for the tandem of Ricky Maingard and Rye Joorawon, who ended the 3rd meeting with a 100% record – four wins on all four rides. The last of those came in the feature race, courtesy of Chinese Gold, who blitzed his opponents in impressive style. This achievement was a perfect feel-good story, after the build up was once again overshadowed by the cancellation of a race. The main event looked to be a straight fight between Chinese Gold and Kimberly Al (Derreck David). There were other horses such as Kruger Rand (Noel Callow), Icy Jet (Vinay Naiko) and debutant King Neptune (Mark Neisius), whose trainer took the decision to enter him in this race, instead of the Duchess Of York Cup. It would be appropriate to say that Chinese Gold’s victory was solely down to Rye Joorawon’s exceptional ride. Drawn widest of all, Chinese Gold was positioned right at the back of the field throughout the run. He stayed there up until the final bend, where a gap opened. Rye Joorawon pressed the button, and Chinese Gold responded brilliantly when it mattered, powering past his opponents in the final straight. King Neptune was the best of the rest, a very promising showing over a sharp trip, while Kruger Rand was a solid 3rd. The Gilbert Roussettrained duo of Seeking Angelo (Pravesh Horil) and Kimberly Al (Derreck David) were 4th and 5th respectively, ahead of Headstrong Harry (Yashin Emamdee), Maestro’s Salute (Sunil Bhundoo) and Icy Jet (Vinay Naiko). Chinese Gold’s win was the cherry on top of the icing for Rye Joorawon. He had previously won on Tigre Libre in the opening contest, Captain’s Cronicle (Race 4) and Rebel’s Game (Race 5). All were excellent wins in their own rights and it meant that the Mauritian rider sailed to the top of the Quantum Insurance Jockeys’ Premiership. The same applied for his trainer – Ricky Maingard – who returned to the top of the Quantum Insurance Trainers’ Premiership. It is also worth noting that he remains unbeaten in a feature race this season. Australian jockey Peter Hall came in for severe criticism following his dubious ride on Always Flirting in the previous meeting. There was certainly nothing wrong with his ride on the filly Don’t Tell Mama (Race 2) in the very first 1000 metre contest of the season. It opened his and Jean-Michel Henry’s accounts for 2016 and more rides like this should boost up the tally of wins. Rameshwar Gujadhur may have slipped to 2nd in the Trainers’ Premiership, but his strong start to the new season continued on Saturday. It’s My Party took the honours in the 3rd race, with Donovan Mansour producing a well-judged ride, beating Brazo (Mark Neisius) in a tight finish. The win might have been in doubt, as Mark Neisius wanted to watch the films of the action in the final straight. In the end, the objection hooter did not sound, and ironically, it was Mark Neisius himself that was given a warning, for forcing himself into a gap between It’s My Party and Constellation (Noel Callow). Vincent Allet ended the meeting on a high, thanks to Isipho. It was a brilliant ride from Sunil Bussunt, with Isipho doing enough to prevent Tornado Man (Donovan Mansour) from confirming his win in the first meeting. One jockey who would have preferred a much better start is defending champion Derreck David. After three meetings, he still has a zero in the wins column, despite riding numerous hot favourites. Nevertheless, determination is a word that exists in Derreck David’s dictionary and it won’t be a surprise if the wins start arriving from this Saturday onwards. The cancellation of a race once again made the headlines and it provoked furious debates on social media. The current stance of the Gambling Regulatory Authority – when it comes to the minimum number of participants in a race – has put Mauritian Horse-Racing in an unfavourable situation. One of the races in Hong Kong on Sunday only had five participants, yet it went ahead as normal, and there is certainly no cinema, when there are smaller fields in England, South Africa, France and even Dubai. There is a light at the end of the tunnel, as things should pick up in the coming weeks, while the majority of the new horses are expected to be in action, just before mid-season. In the meantime, the Gambling Regulatory Authority could do more to find a short-term solution, which would prevent races being cancelled, and horses being denied a chance to run. What they said ON TV: Ricky Maingard (Trainer of Chinese Gold, Tigre Libre, Captain’s Cronicle and Rebel’s Game): ‘Rye took a risk with Chinese Gold, choosing to run at the back and wait for an opening in the final straight. If not, he would have been three-wide, and it would not have worked out for us. Rye rode exceptionally and kept his cool throughout, which is extraordinary. ‘Rebel’s Game was in very good shape. I had an eye on Lividus, as he worked well. I told Rye to be careful of him, but fortunately, our horse came out on top. ‘Captain’s Cronicle is a horse that needs to be well balanced and it seems that Rye gets along with him very well. ‘Tigre Libre did very well in his last start. He remains a young horse and continues to learn. He worked well and we were confident in his chances. I have a lot of confidence in Rye and his judgement. I always tell him to be patient, when he rides for me. I think I have the best jockey here.’ Jean-Michel Henry (Trainer of Don’t Tell Mama) ‘She has such a big heart. She did not miss the start, but took some time to get into action. Peter did not panic and he waited for the right moment to go on the offensive. It makes me happy that our colours have won for the first time this season.’ Vincent Allet (Trainer of Isipho) ‘I am happy to have opened my account. We were not represented in the first meeting, while we had a quiet programme in the second meeting. Today, we did not have a lot of chances. Isipho had to be at his best to beat Tornado Man, but he had an excellent barrier trial three or four weeks ago. I am satisfied he did it in the real thing.’ 15 2 14 April 2016 HORSE OWNER MEETING 3 252nd WIN 29th WIN TIGRE LIBRE (R.Joorawon) DON’T TELL MAMA (P.Hall) 32. Last year’s edition saw Bulsara overpower the opposition to take victory, laying down the foundations for his trainer – Ramapatee Gujadhur – to become champion trainer. Tandragee and Reim represent the oldest stable in Saturday’s contest. 2015 was another solid season for Tandragee. He retained the Hinterland Cup (Group 3) with a courageous performance, having recovered from a health issue that threatened his career. He won again in the latter stages of the season, this time over 1000 metres. The winner of the 2012 Duke Of York Cup has won at least one Group race in every season he has taken part in Mauritius, a rare feat in the modern era. This seven year-old has come out well from a long break and he has looked his usual self in training. He might have to carry 61kg, but even so, it won’t stop him from producing a big run. Reim finished a close 3rd in the Noble Salute Cup. He had a slow start and was condemned one-off throughout the trip. He has benefited from that run and comes into this race in even better shape. He looks the true frontrunner in this and if ridden well, he will be hard to catch. Gilbert Rousset has entered two grey horses in this contest – Everest and Rear Admiral. The former has come out very well from his run in the opening meeting, when he found one better in Casey’s War in the Noble Sa- lute Cup (Gr3). He looked in good order in his workouts and the fact he is tackling the Draper’s Mile is a good omen, as he is unbeaten over this distance. He will have only 55 kg on his back and it can only help when it comes to the final stages. He won’t be far away. His stable mate had a fine 2015, winning four times and placed in his other four races. He is a genuine performer, who has finished unplaced just once during his Mauritian career. This is the first time he is taking part in a Group race and if he can replicate his good work, he won’t be far away. Trainer Ricky Maingard is unbeaten in a feature race this season. He will be banking on Desert Sheik on keeping the run going. This son of the American stallion Trippi has benefited from the season break and comes into this contest in very good order. Were it not for misfortune, his tally of just a single win would be much higher. It won’t be a surprise if he can add to it here. Many expected Diamond Light to be retired after last season, but his owners have decided to give him one last hurrah. It’s a decision that must be fully respected. Now under the tutelage of Simon Jones, this 14-time winner is ready for his return. He would have preferred a longer trip, but he is not ruled out from making the frame. Azapel and Ashanti Gold complete the field. The former is now trained by Shirish Narang, while the latter landed the final podium spot in the feature race of the 2nd meeting. Both horses have well at track work, although they will have to be at their very best, if they are to contend for the honours. 14 April 2016 DATE SATURDAY 1 No 09H30 THE WOODLEIGH PLATE 1400 - Rating: 0-20 HORSE MRU 130K-48K-23K-12K STABLE JOCKEY KG GEAR 1 CAPTAIN NERO R.MAINGARD R. He remains in top order and the longer trip should be beneficial for him. Melson was impressive on his debut, finishing runner-up and 0.3 lengths behind Blizzard Of Ozz. This four year-old is in excellent condition and he is not prevented from going one better, with Derreck David on board. It is worth noting that he won twice over the 1600 metres back in South Africa. Tembot created a big surprise in the Duke Of York Cup meeting, opening his Mauritian account in his first run for Chitranjan Ramdin. Back from a long rest and having showed up well at track work, he must be given plenty of respect. Wonderlaine is a good contender for the lower placings. DARK HORSE: CAPTAIN NERO STAR HORSE: MEDITERRANEAN MAN TRAINING SHOT: GENEROUS GENT 4 Race th VALERIN has fully recovered from the issues that ruled him out of the first meeting. His debut start in the final meeting of last season was very promising. This Alain Perdrau-trained horse excelled in his workouts and is tipped to run a cracker. Phiri E Kwatile’s last run must be ignored, as he is far better than that. He showed no problems at track work and with Rye Joorawon bang on form, he can strike. Parado was narrowly pipped by stable mate Gharbee in the second meeting. He is capable of bouncing back and must not be underestimated. Blow Me Away is new to Rameshwar Gujadhur stable and is ready for his debut. He has been chosen by Donovan Mansour and if he can replicate his good showings in training, he won’t be far away. Gida’s workouts has not gone unnoticed and he can make the frame here. EXPECTED FAVOURITE: PARADO STAR HORSE: VALERIN DARK HORSE: PHIRI E KWATILE TRAINING SHOT: BLOW ME AWAY 7th Race Evergreen took his performances to another level in 2015, winning four times, including a hat-trick. Back from a long break, he showed no signs of rust at track work and is in excellent condition. Karraar has come out very well from his debut race, where he completed the quartet. This very promising horse has a plenty lot more to offer and he is tipped to run a cracker. His stable mate Blue Berry has been chosen by Derreck David – a decision, which must be fully respected. There were plenty of observers impressed by his work in training and his chances look rock-solid. ROVENTAS had a very strong end to last season, visiting the winner’s enclosure three times. This son of Ashaawes is in decent shape and looks the horse they all have to beat. Artful Prince is a good place bet. He can make amends here and end a drought, dating back to the 2014 Barbe Cup meeting. He will break from Stall 1. Straight Jab may be running over a very short trip, but in this benchmark, he has a good chance. He set some impressive times and as he is representing a yard going great guns at the moment, he is worthy of consideration. Epicentre has benefited from his first race in the 2nd meeting where he was carrying 62kg. He could make the frame. Ruby Rocker was not ridden well in his debut race, but nevertheless, he is in much better shape and form. He can make the frame. Kapiti Coast and Al Mahara are rated as two interesting outsiders. STAR HORSE: SMITTEN PARIAZ.CO.UK OFFERS SERVICES TO MAURITIUS NON-RESIDENTS ONLY. DARK HORSE: WIN A MILLION This Group 2 race is a straight fight between TANDRAGEE and Everest. The former won twice last season, both coming after his career was in jeopardy due to a serious issue. This multiple Group winner is in top order and even with a whopping 61 kg on board, a bold showing is predicted from him. However, he won’t have it easy, as Everest has come out very well from his run in the first meeting, where he was narrowly beaten by Casey’s War. Both of his two wins have come over this Draper’s Mile and a third here is a strong possibility. Speaking of strong, it describes Desert Sheik’s case. He has benefited hugely from the off-season and was impressive in his gallops. He will shoulder only 55kg and with his stable mates in very good nick, he should be bang in the shake up. Reim was on the podium in his last start, despite hitting with misfortune at the start. In excellent shape and with Noel Callow booked to ride him, he will have a say in this. Diamond Light and Rear Admiral are both in solid form and are good place bets. Amount = Stakes amount STAR HORSE: ACT OF VALOR all with a chance of winning here. Max Rapax is one of them and is fresh off the back of a fine 2015, where in nine starts, he won five times and appeared on the podium in his other four races. In very good shape, he is given tons of respect. His stable mate Cherish The Charm was prevented from racing last week, due to unfavourable circumstances. It has not had an effect on him as he showed complete satisfaction in his gallops. Even if he would have preferred a much longer trip, he looks a big player in this contest. Bandido Caballero has done nothing wrong since arriving from South Africa. In fact, he looks a potential superstar, having already scored five wins and five podium places. His connections rate him highly and he is more than capable of continuing his trainer’s hot streak. Mr Leyend had an excellent debut season, winning four times, including the final feature race of the campaign. He even finished an honorable runner-up to Kremlin Captain in a Group 2. Well-trained, he can start his 2016 campaign on a victorious note. SCORECARD drops down a benchmark after a narrow defeat to Tube Wave in the first meeting and it wouldn’t be a surprise if he manages to go one better here. Trackmaster makes his debut for Alain Perdrau. He is a very promising sort and he has been spot-on in training. AmountR?H?R?H?R?H?....betName ACT OF VALOR has won five times, all of them coming over the kilometre sprint. He was victorious in a higher benchmark in his last start and having satisfied his yard in training, a bold showing is forthcoming from him. Cash Lord scored a pillar to post in the first meeting, ending a very long winless drought. He is usually an inconsistent performer, so if he can repeat what he did last time out, he can confirm. Win A Million won three times in 2015, although he had a flat end to his campaign. He has very strong form over this short sprint and warrants major consideration. HarryHopeItHappens arrives with a goodlooking C.V and must be watched closely, along with Count Emmanuale, who has benefited from his first race for JeanMichel Henry stable. He will break from Stall 1. He appears to be on good terms with himself, after such a slow start to life in Mauritius. In good shape, he can strike. Mc Naught could do nothing to prevent Data Controller from winning in the second meeting. He has a solid chance of making amends here with a jockey that won on him. Leo’s Rush has only showed flashes of ability since joining Gilbert Rousset’s yard. He has come out well from the off-season and looked decent in his workouts. He must enter calculations. Generous Gent caught the glances with his good gallops and should make the frame, while stable mate Young Royal and Captain Nero – who has benefited from his debut start and represents an in-form yard – are two interesting outsiders.
