Sun Awareness Program: Volunteer opportunity
December 2013 Sun Awareness Program: Volunteer opportunity The Sun Awareness Program has been a key offering of the CDA for over 25 years. Many of you have been involved with the program and continue to be among its most amazing contributors. The dedication of the many volunteers who come out year after year keep the program going. Dermatologists (and residents) provide free skin cancer screening and education at community events like the Teddy Bear Picnic in Winnipeg where we’ve been for 10 years. As well as the public screening events organized by the CDA like those held across the country during Sun Awareness Week in early June or those at provincial legislatures between March and October. We always need more volunteers! We are setting up our 2014 calendar and want to ensure that we have coverage at the 30+ events we are organizing. If you live in any of the following locations and are willing to get there and share an hour or more of your time, please let us know by sending an email to [email protected] In 2014 we will be hosting at least one event in each of the following places: Calgary, AB Charlottetown, PEI Chelsea, QC Edmonton, AB Fredericton, NB Halifax, NS St Johns, NL Summerside, PEI Toronto, ON Vancouver, BC Whistler, BC Winnipeg, MB Kitchener, ON Moncton, NB Montreal, QC Ottawa, ON Quebec, QC Saskatoon, SK Still, there are events being finalized in Saskatchewan, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Alberta - so more opportunities for your involvement are on the horizon. This is an opportunity to show your kids what community involvement is all about!
