2008 Breastfeeding Challenge
Le 11 octobre dernier avait lieu le Défi Allaitement
2008. La Mère à Boire avait organisé un défi
à Greenfield Park. Plus de 105 personnes ont
participé à cette activité réunissant des mamans
qui allaitent, des bébés allaités (58 bébés allaités
simultanément lors de la mise au sein à 11h),
des pères dévoués, des marraines d’allaitement,
des bénévoles, des grands-parents, Naznin Hébert
(responsable de l’organisme La Mère à Boire)
et bien sûr Madame Édith Cochrane qui
a gentiment accepté d’être la porte-parole
de ce Défi allaitement 2008.
On October 11th took place the 2008 Breastfeeding
Challenge. Mom’s for Milk organized a Challenge
in Greenfield Park. More than 105 persons participated: breastfeeding mothers, breastfed babies
(58 babies nursed at the same time at 11 o clock),
devoted fathers, support moms, volunteers, grandparents, Naznin Hébert (Mom’s for Milk head chef)
and of course, Mrs Édith Cochrane, our 2008
Challenge spokesperson.
Le Défi Allaitement 2008, c’est:
7015 bébés allaités, dans 288 villes, dans 18 pays
Sur 288 villes participantes, Montréal s’est classée
première avec 515 bébés allaités. Greenfield Park
s’est classée 22e, avec 58 bébés allaités.
Sur 18 pays participants, le Canada s’est classé
en première place avec 4585 bébés allaités. Le
Canada s’est aussi classé en première place comme
pays ayant le plus de villes participantes (168).
Breastfeeding Challenge 2008 is:
7015 breastfed babies, in 288 sites, in 18 countries
Of the 288 participating sites, Montréal came in first
place with 515 breastfed babies. Greenfield Park
came in 22nd, with 58 breastfed babies.
Of 18 participating countries, Canada came in
first place with 4585 breastfed babies. Canada also
came in first place as the country with the most
participating sites (168).

Congratulations and thank you
to all of the organizers this
year, for this fantastic, fun-filled
event.The location was bright,
spacious, inviting, lots
of parking, perfect! The kiosks
were really nicely set up. I still
haven't gone through my gift
bag but am looking to reading
through all the goodies in there.
The food was light, nutritious,
and toddler-friendly
(thank you!). And as always,
the door prizes were great what generous donors!
I loved seeing all the support
moms in your pink t-shirts,
and all the babies with their
kerchiefs on! So many details
were conceived, and the time
passed so quickly. Thank you for
all your hard work, everyone!
It is so greatly and deeply
appreciated. I'm sure the word
will continue to spread about
this fantastic event, and our
numbers will only grow in
years to come.
