Uniprix : 70 pharmacies reconnues «Ici on recycle !»

Le Groupe Uniprix annonce que 56 de ses pharmacies affiliées ont reçu l'attestation de
performance «Ici on recycle!» de Recyc-Québec en 2010, ce qui porte le nombre de pharmacies
attestées à 70. L'attestation de performance de niveau 3 reçue par les pharmacies du groupe
correspond à la plus haute distinction remise par la société d'État dans le cadre de ce programme.
Elle vise à reconnaître les efforts des établissements qui gèrent leurs matières résiduelles de façon
exemplaire.

Desjardins se dote d’un programme de transport alternatif
Vision Durable
Le Mouvement Desjardins se dote d'un programme de transport alternatif afin d'encourager son
personnel à réduire l'usage de l'automobile en solo lors de leurs déplacements domicile-travail ou
professionnels, locaux ou régionaux. L'initiative vise à favoriser le recours au transport en
commun, au covoiturage ou encore l'usage du vélo pour se rendre au travail. À cet égard, des
activités faisant la promotion du transport actif ont eu lieu au printemps dernier, et d'autres sont à
venir pour les différents modes de transport.

Pour une meilleure gestion de l’eau dans les bâtiments

Un nouveau centre scientifique et technique de recherche pour la gestion durable de l’eau dans le
bâtiment a été inauguré à Nantes le 17 septembre. Aquasim reconstitue le circuit de l’eau en
grandeur nature, dans des ouvrages de différentes typologies, depuis la récupération des eaux
pluviales jusqu’à leur rejet à l’égout, en passant par leur exploitation ou leur circulation dans les
canalisations...

Le Musée de la civilisation et le Centre de santé et de services sociaux de Québec-Nord mettent
sur pied le projet-pilote culture-santé
La première étape d’un projet exploratoire associant culture et santé vient de s’amorcer au Centre
d’hébergement Loretteville.
Musée de la Civilisation
Ce projet devient un laboratoire qui explore diverses possibilités pouvant éventuellement être
utilisées à la carte dans d’autres centres, en fonction des besoins et des intérêts de leurs résidants.
Dans la mise en œuvre de ce projet, le Musée de la civilisation consulte et implique les
principaux intéressés, soit les résidants du Centre d’hébergement Loretteville, mais également
leur famille, qui ont démontré un enthousiasme face au projet.

Health Systems Form Initiative To Speed Greening of Health Care
Healthier Hospitals Initiative
Six leading health care systems announced today that they have formed the Healthier Hospitals
Initiative to help speed the health care sector toward environmental sustainability. The six
systems—Advocate Health Care; Catholic Healthcare West; Hospital Corporation of America
(HCA, Inc.); Kaiser Permanente; MedStar Health; and Partners Healthcare, introduced the
Healthier Hospitals Agenda, a document that outlines specific activities that hospitals can take to
reduce their environmental footprint and improve health outcomes.
The overall goal of this
national initiative is to use a coordinated approach to achieve sustainability throughout the health
care sector, which will prevent environment-­‐related illness, create extraordinary environmental
benefits, and save billions of dollars in health care expenses.

Le changement climatique, c’est mauvais pour la santé

Health and Environment Alliance et Health Care Without Arm, deux ONG, ont commandité une
étude économétrique sur les bienfaits de la réduction des émissions de gaz à effet de serre.
Réalisée par Econometric Research and Consulting (EMRC), l’objet de cette étude est d’évaluer
l’impact sanitaire et économique de la réduction d’un tiers des émissions de gaz à effet de serre
(GES) des pays européens d’ici à 2020.

Vers l’interdiction du mercure dans les thermomètres industriels

L’Agence européenne sur les produits chimiques (Echa) a ouvert vendredi 24 septembre une
consultation publique sur des propositions de restriction du mercure et du phénylmercure dans
des produits industriels.
A la demande de la Commission, l’Echa a élaboré un rapport proposant des restrictions relatives
à plusieurs dispositifs de mesure contenant du mercure (thermomètres, sphygmomanomètres - le
tensiomètre des médecins -, baromètres, manomètres, etc.) destinés aux industriels et aux
professionnels, suite au constat de l’existence d’alternatives fiables et plus sûres.

Healthy Hospitals: Changing Climate in Healthcare Facilities and Institutions

Industry and government organizations in the healthcare sector are increasingly addressing the
impacts of climate change and energy on operations. The sector is amongst the more intensive
users of energy and natural resources in support of its operations. As energy costs rise and
availability of natural resources declines, the healthcare community will face significant
challenges and opportunities related to procurement, facilities management and design.
On September 29, the Association of Climate Change Officers invites you to a full-day workshop

Preparing the U.S. Health Community for Climate Change

In society's effort to address and prepare for climate change, the health community itself must
ensure that it is prepared. Health personnel will require flexible and iterative action plans to
address climate change at the individual, hospital, local health department, state, and national
levels. This requires that health workers analyze the impact of climate change with a view to
human health, and then formulate robust policy and demonstrate authentic leadership. In this
review, we summarize the status of the health community's preparation for climate change and
provide specific recommendations for action at each level. Although preparation status and
recommendations vary, our observation is that it is not enough for public health and medical care
agencies and departments to develop policies and advocate change. They have a direct
responsibility to demonstrate substantive leadership.
