I. L’histoire du jeu d’échecs. II. THE LITTLE HISTORY OF THE BIG GAME: CHESS I. The history of the chess game. The chess game is a combinatorial board game abstracted for two players either a player against several. Of the year 600 in 1500, the distribution of the chess game recovers quite the countries of the world. In 1500, the end of the Middle Ages the new chess game appears. Where did the idea of the chess game come from? Chaturanga, of Indian origin, mean “quadripartite” which means divided into four parts. The Indian army of time was also called Chaturanga consists of four bodies : the elephants, the riders, the tanks and the foot soldiers. So two possible explanations of the genesis of the chess appear : - The chess game was a representation of the war or the training ground in the war - The chess game was a way to recreate the reality in miniature. III.The purpose of the game. King is in check when he is in situation of grip by an opposite room. He is illegal to maintain his King in a no-win situation. There is checkmate yes : - King cannot move - We can interpose a room between King in check and room which threatens it - We cannot eliminate the threatening room. The benefits of the chess?. To learn it is necessary to consider itself and to estimate the others. Also the object of the learning has to be developing and the frame of the pleasant learning. Playful, the chess are also renowned to be difficult and their practice favors a positive self-image. No need to be a small genius of the mathematics to devote there: even the children or the teenagers in situation of almost academic failure this time may reach there. From then on, once the restored self-confidence, the chess open the way towards other learnings all the more easily as they mobilize useful skills in all the materials.
