THE ETHICS OF COUNTER TERRORISM
Dear Friends and Colleagues,
As many of you will already know, the 2016 Euro-ISME conference will
take place from Monday 23 May to Wednesday 25 May at the historic
Akershus fortress in Oslo, Norway. You are cordially invited to attend.
The highly topical theme of the conference will be ‘The Ethics of
Counter-Terrorism’.
Call for Papers
The call for papers was issued earlier, but you should note that for
reasons of programme management, the deadline for the submission of
papers has been advanced from 15 March 2016 to 1 March 2016. The
other criteria for submission of papers remain unchanged and they are:
Please submit your proposal –written in the English language – to
[email protected] All submissions should include an abstract of 600
words, your name, military or academic rank, address, institutional
affiliation and, of course, the actual text of your manuscript. We will
make every effort to ensure that the authors of all mature submissions
will be offered the opportunity to present their paper at the conference.
Based on the number of contributions and the time available at the
conference, a selection will be made by the Board of Directors. Papers
can also be submitted on other military ethics topics other than the
ethics of counter-terrorism.
We especially welcome submissions from young researchers and
serving military personnel.
As you might know, Euro-ISME has now established its own academic
book series, which is published by Martinus Nijhoff. Each book in the series
focuses on the theme of each annual conference and we shall be following
the same procedure for our 2016 conference.
Therefore, authors who wish to have their manuscripts considered for
inclusion in the volume should take account of the following points:
All contributions must be submitted before the deadline.
Priority will be given to fully developed manuscripts which demonstrate
scholarship and are between 7500 and 11000 words long.
Such manuscripts must necessarily deal with the subject of the
conference.
The authors of these manuscripts will be contacted by the volume
editor in due course. The volume editor, in consultation with the series
editorial board, will make its selection based on the manuscripts
submitted.

Please note that to maximise the time available for discussion, oral
presentations will normally be limited to 20 minutes.

The conference fee has yet to be finalised, but will include access to all

L’ETHIQUE DU CONTRE-TERRORISME
Chers amis et personnes intéressées,
Comme beaucoup d’entre vous le savent déjà, la conférence de EuroISME en
2016 se tiendra du lundi 23 mai au mercredi 25 mai à la forteresse historique
de Askershus à Oslo, en Norvège. Vous y êtes cordialement invités.
Le thème général de cette conférence sera : “l’Ethique du contreterrorisme”.
L’appel à contributions a déjà été envoyé, mais vous devez noter que pour
des questions d’organisation, la date limite d’envoi des propositions
écrites a été avancée, du 15 mars au 1er mars 2016. Les autres critères
n’ont pas été modifiés et sont rappelés ci-dessous.
Une proposition écrite en anglais doit être envoyée à l’adresse :
[email protected] . Celle-ci doit inclure un résumé de 600 mots,
votre nom, votre grade et/ou titre universitaire, votre organisme
d’appartenance et le manuscrit lui-même. Nous ferons le maximum
pour offrir à tous les auteurs fournissant un document finalisé
l’opportunité de le présenter oralement pendant la conférence. La
sélection sera faite par le Conseil de direction d’EuroISME en fonction
du nombre de propositions reçues et du temps disponible. De plus, il
reste possible de proposer tout sujet portant sur l’éthique militaire en
général.
Un accueil très favorable sera fait aux propositions de jeunes chercheurs et
de militaires en activité.
Il convient de noter que les présentations orales ne devront pas dépasser 20
minutes, pour laisser du temps aux discussions et questions.
Par ailleurs, EuroISME publie une série de livres avec les renommées
éditions Martinus Nijhoff. Les manuscrits qui démontrent les qualités requises
seront publiés dans un volume spécifique à la conférence, s’ils respectent les
consignes suivantes :
Toutes les contributions doivent être fournies avant la date butoir.
La priorité sera donnée aux manuscrits entièrement rédigés qui
démontrent une érudition certaine et qui ont une longueur comprise entre
7500 et 11000 mots.
Ces manuscrits doivent se rapporter au thème de la conférence.
Leurs auteurs seront contactés par l'éditeur en temps utile. La sélection
sera faite par l'éditeur du volume et par le Comité d'édition des séries.

ETHIK IN DER TERRORISMUSBEKAMPFUNG
Liebe Freunde und Kollegen,
Wie viele von Ihnen bereits wissen, wird die Euro-ISME Jahrestagung
2016 vom Montag, 23. Mai bis Mittwoch, 25. Mai in der historischen Festung
Akershus in Oslo, Norwegen, stattfinden. Sie sind herzlich eingeladen, daran
teilzunehmen.
Die Tagung wird ganz dem hochaktuellen Thema "Ethik in der
Terrorismusbekämpfung" gewidmet sein.
Der Aufruf zur Einreichung von Beiträgen / Call for Papers wurde bereits auf
unserer Internetseite http://www.euroisme.eu/de/6-euro-isme-jahrestagung/
veröffentlicht, aber Sie sollten beachten, dass aus Gründen der
Programmgestaltung die Frist für die Einreichung von Beiträgen vom 15.
März auf den 1. März 2016 vorgezogen werden musste.
Die übrigen Kriterien für die Einreichung der Vorschläge bleiben unverändert
gültig :
Bitte senden Sie also Ihren Beitrag vor dem 1. März 2016 in
Englischer Sprache an [email protected] . Dem Entwurf Ihres
Manuskripts sollte ein Deckblatt mit Ihrem akademischen Titel und/oder
militärischen Dienstgrad, Namen, Anschrift und ggf. Angabe Ihrer beruflichen
oder ehrenamtlichen Tätigkeit / Institution sowie einer Kurzfassung Ihres
Beitrags mit höchstens 600 Wörtern vorgeheftet sein.
Wir werden unsererseits alles tun, um sicherzustellen, dass alle
Autoren ausgearbeiteter Manuskripte die Möglichkeit erhalten, ihren Beitrag
auf der Jahrestagung vorzustellen.
Für die Vorträge während der Jahrestagung, wird der Vorstand (BoD)
je nach Anzahl der eingereichten Beiträge und der Zeit, die für die
Präsentationen zur Verfügung steht, eine Auswahl treffen. In diesem Rahmen
können ggf. auch Beiträge eingereicht werden, die sich genereller mit
militärischer Ethik und militärischer Verteidigung beschäftigen und somit über
das Thema Terrorismusbekäpfung hinausweisen.
Wir begrüßen insbesondere Bewerbungen von Nachwuchswissenschaftlern sowie von aktiven Soldaten bzw. zivilen Mitarbeitern in den
Streitkräften.
Wie Sie sicherlich wissen, hat Euro-ISME mittlerweile ihre eigene
Bücherreihe "Internationale Studien zur Militärethik " aufgelegt, die im
Martinus Nijhoff Verlag herausgegeben wird. Jede Ausgabe befasst sich mit
dem Thema der jeweiligen Jahrestagung. Auch nach der Jahrestagung 2016
planen wir die Herausgabe eines weiteren Bandes.
Autoren die hierfür einen Beitrag einreichen wollen, sollten das
Folgende beachten:
 Alle Beiträge müssen vor der Abgabefrist eingereicht werden.
 Der Vorzug wird den ausgearbeiteten Manuskripten mit
wissenschaftlichem Nachweis mit einer Länge von 7500 bis 11000
Worten gegeben.
 Diese Manuskripte sollten sich mit dem Thema der Konferenz
befassen.
 Die Autoren dieser Manuskripte werden rechtzeitig vom Herausgeber
kontaktiert. Der Herausgeber wird gemeinsam mit dem Series
Editorial Board eine Entscheidung treffen, welche der Manuskripte
publiziert werden.

Um die Zeit für den Meinungsaustausch zu maximieren, werden die
meisten Vorträge auf 20 min beschränkt sein.
