High School Profile 2016-2017
History and Philosophy
This year, KAIS celebrates its 10th year serving the Tokyo, Japan, international
community. Small by design, KAIS provides students with a holistic education –
one that emphasizes the academic, the creative, and the physical. To that end,
students take demanding courses, study the creative arts, and engage in rigorous
physical activity through our sports and yoga programs.
School and Community

KAIS is a private, independent, English-speaking day school. The student body
is very diverse, with 13 nationalities represented in a student body of 36. The
classroom experience is enriched with all-school field trips, after school clubs
and sports, and other activities that expose students to the culture of Japan and
the cultures of their classmates.

Advanced Placement and PSAT Testing
In the 2014-2015 school year, KAIS was able to offer on-site Advanced Placement and PSAT
testing to its students for the first time. We will continue to offer such testing at KAIS and look
forward to increased participation in both programs.
Electives
Due to the popularity of the Robotics Club and student demand, Robotics is now offered as an
elective course at KAIS. Students have the opportunity to participate in robotics competitions in
Japan and in greater Asia.
