QUESTION
EN 81-70 reads in § 5.4.2.3: “The car control panel shall be located on the wall as follows:
a) with centre opening doors, it shall be on the right hand side when entering the car;
b) with side opening doors, it shall be on the closing side.
In case of lifts type 3 with two car entrances the requirements in a) and b) shall be fulfilled as
applicable.”
Though EN 81-70 does not address lifts with two car entrances at right angle, we believe that the
requirements for the location of the car operating panel in the lift car can be applied by analogy.
Due to the usual design and the closing side of doors, on the basis of EN 81-70, 5.4.2.3 a) or b), can
the car operating panels be located as shown in sketches 1 and 2 (See Annex)?
INTERPRETATION
Yes. Clause 5.4.2.3 should be completed at the end: "For lifts with two car entrances at right angle, a
car operating panel shall be fitted on each other wall without entrance."
This shall be considered at the next revision of the standard.

EN 81-70 besagt unter § 5.4.2.3 : „Das Tableau im Fahrkorb muss an der Fahrkorbwand wie folgt
angeordnet sein:
a) Bei mittig öffnenden Türen muss es sich beim Betreten des Fahrkorbs auf der rechten Seite
befinden.
b) Bei seitlich öffnenden Türen muss es sich auf der Schließseite befinden.
Bei Typ 3-Aufzügen mit zwei Fahrkorbzugängen muss die Anforderung aus a) oder b) entsprechend
erfüllt werden.“
Obwohl EN 81-70 Aufzüge mit zwei über Eck angeordneten Zugängen nicht behandelt, glauben wir,
dass die Anforderungen für die Anbringung des Fahrkorbtableaus in Analogie angewendet werden
können.
Können die Bedientableaus des Fahrkorbs aufgrund der üblichen Ausführung und der
Schließrichtung der Türen sowie auf Basis der EN 81-70, 5.4.2.3 a) oder b) wie in Skizzen 1 und 2
(siehe Anhang) angeordnet werden?
AUSLEGUNG
Ja. Der Abschnitt 5.4.2.3 sollte am Ende ergänzt werden: "Bei Aufzügen mit 2 Zugängen über Eck
muss ein Fahrkorbbedientableau an jeder Wand ohne Zugang angebracht sein."
Dies wird bei der nächsten Revision der Norm berücksichtigt.

QUESTION
L'EN 81-70, § 5.4.2.3 dit : "Le panneau de commande en cabine doit être situé sur une paroi comme
suit :
a) avec des portes à ouverture centrale, il doit être sur le coté droit en entrant dans la cabine ;
b) avec des portes à ouverture latérale, il doit être du coté de la fermeture de porte.
Dans le cas d’ascenseur de type 3, la prescription a) ou b) doit être respectée."
Bien que l'EN 81-70 ne considère pas les ascenseurs à deux faces de service disposées à l'équerre,
nous pensons que les prescriptions pour la position du panneau de commande en cabine peuvent
être appliquées par analogie.
En raison de la conception habituelle et du côté de fermeture des portes, sur la base des 5.4.2.3 a)
et b) de l'EN 81-70, peut-on positionner les panneaux de commande en cabine comme montré dans
les dessins 1 et 2 (voir en Annexe) ?
INTERPRETATION
Oui. Il convient de compléter à la fin de l'article 5.4.2.3 : "pour les ascenseurs à deux faces de
service disposées à l'équerre, un panneau de commande en cabine doit être placé sur chaque paroi
dépourvue de baie d'entrée."
Ceci sera pris en considération lors de la révision de la norme.
