Description Presents Watch, Wait and Wonder (WWW) is a dyadic child-led psychotherapeutic approach that makes use of the child’s spontaneous activity in a free play format. By providing new space for interaction, this intervention allows the dyad to negotiate its attachment relationship and, through heightened parental sensitivity, work on the various developmental problems that the child may present. At first, the parent is required to watch and to follow the child’s lead in his or her free initiative. Then, the parent is asked to discuss what he or she observed, thought and felt. This model is suited to children less than 5 years of age, including infants, who present various problems relating to sleep, eating, emotion regulation, aggressiveness, inhibition, separation anxiety, and more. Objectives April 16-17, 2008 at Centre Premier Berceau (Montreal) Participants will: Learn about the theoretical model underlying the WWW therapeutic approach, including attachment theory; Become familiar with the process and stakes of the WWW approach, from the point of view of the child, the parent and the therapist; Learn how to set up the WWW therapeutic space, including as regards the play material and instructions concerning the parent’s and therapist’s roles; Be introduced to the WWW process through viewing videotaped sessions; Consider how to incorporate their WWW knowledge into their clinical practice.
