Plonger au cœur de la matière, explorer une œuvre sous toutes ses
coutures, laisser la curiosité et le désir s’installer, telles sont les sensations
procurées par l’exposition Textures dont travail de la matière et jeux de
texture sont les mots d’ordre. Dans le langage didactique, la disposition,
l’entrelacement des parties qui composent un corps ou la superposition
des matières définissent la texture. Cette définition est la représentation
même des oeuvres de nos artistes. Cuirs, ors et argents de l’Eldorado historique sont à la source
même de ses œuvres textiles de l’artiste colombienne Olga de
Amaral. Novatrice, elle a transformé l’art de la tapisserie figurative en
deux dimensions en un art abstrait tridimensionnel. Ses œuvres, résultat
d’un long travail d’orfèvre, scintillent de toutes les richesses tissées ;
la lumière joue sur cette matière sculpturale qu’on voudrait pouvoir
toucher.
Cabral, artiste brésilien, vit et travaille à São Paulo. Ses toiles évoquent le
flux des émotions et l’intensité de la vie humaine grâce à leur texture
où la disposition des couches de peintures fait rejaillir les couleurs de
manière vive et inédite. Entre réalité et poésie, ses peintures débordent
de sentiments ambivalents, faisant vibrer autant de lumières que de
sensations. « Tropique, c’est dans la matière qu’elle est configurée et
défigurée ; en évitant l’évident du figuratif et l’effacé de l’anti-figuratif.
Cabral consacre la figure à la matière, sa fin et sa source. (…) ».

Marcos Coelho Benjamim, artiste brésilien, exprime par ses effets
de relief, de profondeur et de superposition la répétition des rythmes,
des gestes graphiques et le goût de la géométrie. L’artiste emploie
des matériaux usés, aux surfaces rugueuses, comme le zinc, le fer ou
le tissu, dont l’irrégularité ajoute une valeur tactile à ses œuvres. La tridimensionalité de son travail, la pénétration de la lumière entre chaque
matériau met en exergue un jeu de texture entre profondeur et relief.

Loose yourself at the heart of the material, deeply explore an artwork in
all of its aspects, let the desire and curiosity settle, those are the feelings
from the exhibition Textures in which material work and texture game are
the watchwords. In our didactic language, the tactile quality of a surface,
the characteristic structure of the interwoven or intertwined threads,
strands or any material define the notion of texture. That definition is the
very essence of the following artists artworks. Leather, gold and silver from the historic El Dorado are delicately woven
into the textile artworks of the Colombian artist Olga de Amaral. Through
her groundbreaking installations, Olga has turned the art of twodimensional figurative tapestry into a three-dimensional, abstract genre
of work. Her pieces, intricately designed and constructed as a master
craftsmanship, sparkle with of all of their woven wealth. Light dances
across the delicate patterns adorning each installation, enticing to the
viewer to take a closer look.

Cabral, Brazilian artist, lives and works in São Paulo. In explosions of
color, the artist’s painting imitates the flux of emotions and the intensity
of human life. Between reality and poetry, the paintings of Cabral
overflow with ambivalent feelings, vibrating with equally as many lights
as sensations. “Tropical, it is within the matter that figures are configured
and disfigured; in avoiding the literal depiction of figurative art as well as
the abstraction of the anti-figurative. Cabral binds the represented figure
to matter, both its finality and origin [...]”
Marcos Coelho Benjamim, Brazilian artist, express by its emboss effects,
deepness and overlap the repetition of rhythms, graphical gestures
and the game of geometry. The artist uses recycle and spent materials
with rough surfaces as zinc, iron or textiles treated in an irregular way
creating a tactile value in its work. This three-dimensionality, the light
penetration between each material gives rise to a game of texture
between deepness and relief.
