MethylGene Announces the Appointment of Dr. Charles M. Baum as President and CEO and
Changes to The Board Of Directors
Montreal, Canada, November 12, 2012 - MethylGene Inc. ("MethylGene" or the "Company") (TSX: MYG) today announced
that Charles M. Baum, MD, PhD, has been appointed to the position of President and Chief Executive Officer and has joined
the Company's Board of Directors, effective immediately. MethylGene also announced that Mr. Louis Lacasse and Mr. Colin
Mallet have stepped down from the Board of Directors.
Dr. Baum was most recently Senior Vice President for Clinical Research within Pfizer's Worldwide Research & Development
division. He has worked at Pfizer since 2003, taking on roles of increasing responsibility, including Vice President and Head of
Oncology Development and Chief Medical Officer for Pfizer's Biotherapeutics and Bioinnovation Center, a Pfizer division
comprised of small biotech research units. During his tenure at Pfizer he was responsible for the development of the oncology
portfolio, including the tyrosine kinase inhibitors sunitinib (Sutent®), axitinib (Inlyta®) and crizotinib (Xalkori®). Prior to joining
Pfizer Dr. Baum was responsible for the Phase I-IV development of several oncology compounds at Schering-Plough, including
temozolomide (Temodar®). His career also includes academic and hospital positions at Stanford and Emory Universities, as
well as positions of increasing responsibility within the pharmaceutical industry (Systemix, Searle, Schering-Plough and Pfizer).

Dr. Baum received his M.D. and Ph.D. (Immunology) degrees from the Washington University School of Medicine and did his
post-graduate work at Stanford University, where he completed his medical training and conducted research on human bone
marrow stem cells with Dr. Irving Weissman. Dr. Baum was granted research support by the National Institutes of Health and the
American Cancer Society, published more than 50 peer-reviewed manuscripts, and holds a number of patents and patent
applications.

Dr Baum était jusqu'à tout récemment vice-président principal en charge de la recherche clinique au sein de la division
mondiale de recherche et de développement de Pfizer. À l'emploi de Pfizer depuis 2003, il a occupé des fonctions à
responsabilités croissantes, dont vice-président responsable du développement oncologique, chef de la direction médicale du
Centre des produits biothérapeutiques et de la bioinnovation de Pfizer, une division de Pfizer constituée de petites unités de
recherche en biotechnologie. Au cours de sa carrière chez Pfizer, il a été en charge du développement du portefeuille de
produits oncologiques, dont les inhibiteurs à tyrosine kinase sunitinib (Sutent®), axitinib (Inlyta®) et crizotinib (Xalkori®). Avant
de se joindre à Pfizer, Dr Baum a eu la responsabilité du développement de phases I à IV de plusieurs composés oncologiques
chez Schering-Plough, dont le témozolomide (Temodar®). Son parcours professionnel l'a également amené à occuper des
postes académiques et en milieu hospitalier au sein des universités Stanford et Emory, ainsi que des postes à responsabilités
croissantes dans l'industrie pharmaceutique, chez Systemix, Searle, Schering-Plough et Pfizer).

Dr Baum a obtenu son diplôme de médecine et son doctorat en immunologie à la faculté de médecine de l'université
Washington et a réalisé ses travaux de recherche de troisième cycle à l'université Stanford, où il a complété sa formation en
médecine et effectué des recherches sur les cellules souches de moelle osseuse humaine avec Dr Irving Weissman. Les
recherches de Dr Baum ont reçu le soutien du National Institutes of Health des États-Unis et de l'American Cancer Society. Il a
publié plus de 50 articles approuvés par des comités de lecture et a déposé plusieurs brevets et demandes de brevets.
