What’s New in the Knowledge Centre! Available for your reference R EP OR T S National Trade Facilitation Committees - Moving towards implementation International Trade Centre, 25 November 2015 Developing countries can benefit from trade facilitation reforms by establishing a well-run National Trade Facilitation Committee. This guide gives developing countries a step-by-step approach to evaluate policy, organizational and funding options to create a detailed roadmap to set up National Trade Facilitation Committees, which are an obligation for countries implementing the WTO Trade Facilitation Agreement. This is a joint guide by ITC; the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development; and the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe, including the United Nations Centre for Trade Facilitation and Electronic Business. World Tariff Profiles 2015 International Trade Centre, 6 November 2015 Jointly published by ITC, WTO and UNCTAD annually, this report has tariff-based market access conditions for goods, imposed by the 161 WTO members plus other countries and territories. The first part presents aggregated product statistics. The second part covers tariffs imposed and faced by each economy, according to sectors and duty ranges. The third part features tariff accumulation, effective protection and export competitiveness in global production. ITC’s MacMap database is a main source on applied tariff data in the report. ENews November 2015 SME Competitiveness Outlook 2015 International Trade Centre, 14 October 2015 The SME Competitiveness Outlook argues that small and medium-sized firms are the ‘missing link’ to inclusive growth. Organized around the theme Connect, Compete, Change for Inclusive Growth, it shows that SMEs are generally less productive than large firms. The productivity gap is wider in developing countries, and the wage gap is similar. It also shows that firms connected to international markets are more productive and create more employment. The book combines unique analysis, thought leader insights and case stories about developing country SMEs in international markets, along with 25 country profiles. From niche to mainstream – Halal Goes Global International Trade Centre, 16 October 2015 The halal food sector is estimated to be a trilliondollar global market, based on the preferences of an estimated 1.6 billion Muslims around the world. This publication is the first to provide an overview of the global halal food and beverage market. It contains trade data, outlines consumer trends, and explores how trade and investment support institutions (TISIs) can promote a national halal industry. It also shows avenues for collaboration between ITC and the Islamic Development Bank to help TISIs develop national potential in this fast-evolving market. ENews November 2015 Making regional integration work - Company perspectives on non-tariff measures in Arab States 16 October 2015 Intraregional trade among Arab States is low compared with other regions. This publication offers insights into the main challenges to trade, both within and beyond the region, and suggests how to address them. It shares the perspectives of exporters and importers, which were captured through business surveys conducted by ITC in Egypt, Morocco, the State of Palestine and Tunisia. The surveys are part of an ITC series of developing-country projects on non-tariff measures (NTMs). This is the first such publication to examine country surveys in a regional context. Trade Promotion Organizations Directory 2015 International Trade Centre (ITC), 20 October 2015 A directory of 98 trade and investment support institutions around the world. Increasingly TPOs are integrating both a trade and investment focus in their work which is meeting the growing demand from SMEs to reflect this nexus in their activities. Developing linkages between TPOs is an important part of knowledge sharing and the development of expertise. This 2015 Directory of Trade Promotion Organizations provides an opportunity for this connection and is a tool to build a strong network of TPOs worldwide.
