ALANNAH voit le jour en septembre 95 dans
la région parisienne (Yvelines) à la suite d’une
rencontre entre Olivier CHAUMEIL (batterie),
Fabrice MICHEL (guitares / claviers), Patrice
(basse) et Franck VIRAPIN (chant); les trois
premiers ayant déjà joué ensemble dans
WASTED TIME puis GLAZWOLF. Après
quelques mois de répétitions, le quatuor
francilien réalise une 1ère démo qui reçoit un
accueil très favorable des médias et du public.
C’est l’année suivante que Thierry MARTIN
(basse) rejoindra ALANNAH et que la démo,
remixée, sera rééditée en CD. La formation
compose alors un nouveau répertoire et se
lance dans l’enregistrement de son véritable
1 er album. Fidèle à la ligne directrice qui a
toujours été la sienne, le groupe nous propose
ici un superbe album de Metal mélodique aux
tendances F.M. Les guitares et les rythmiques
Heavy y côtoient des vocaux et des claviers
extrêmement mélodiques. Bénéficiant d’une
production très soignée, les 11 compositions
présentes ici nous entraînent dans un univers
très teinté U.S. dont les influences principales
sont à chercher du côté de PRETTY MAIDS,
KISS, BON JOVI, MSG, HOUSE OF LORDS
ou DOKKEN... Mais également chez des
groupes actuels, plus Progressifs et
Symphoniques. Avec cet album éponyme,
ALANNAH rivalise sans peine avec les
productions des maîtres du genre.
ALANNAH saw the light of day in
September 1995 in the Paris area (Yvelines)
following the meeting of drummer Olivier
CHAUMEIL, guitarist/ keyboards player
Fabrice MICHEL, bassist Patrice and lead
singer Franck VIRAPIN. The first three
bandmembers had already played together in
two earlier groups called WASTED TIME and
GLAZWOLF. After several months of intensive
rehearsals, the suburbanite quartet released
their first demo,which was greeted whith much
appraisal by both the medias and the
audience. The next year, a new bass player,
Thierry MARTIN joined ALANNAH, whilst the
remixed demo tape was eventually released
on CD. The band subsequently composed a
new repertoire and started recording the
material of their proper first album. Faithful to
their continuous guiding line, the band hereby
offers a superb album of melodic metal mixed
with FM tendencies to their fans. Roaring
guitars and a heavy rythm section resound
alongside delightful melodic vocals and
keyboards. Benefiting from a particularly
careful production, the eleven tracks included
take the listener towards a definitely US
flavoured musical universe mainly influenced
by such all-time favourites as PRETTY
MAIDS, KISS, BON JOVI, MSG, HOUSE OF
LORDS or DOKKEN..., yet also by today's
more symphonically oriented progressive
heavies. With their eponymous album,
ALANNAH effortless hold their own against the
masterpieces of the genre.
