sempre vissuto a Brooklyn, fino alla sua scomparsa
avvenuta nel luglio del 2009, con il marito William, tenente
del New York City Fire Department in pensione. Si è messa
in evidenza per il suo lavoro all’interno della comunità di
Bay Ridge, impegnandosi instancabilmente per migliorare
la qualità della vita nel suo quartiere. La sua compassione e
il suo entusiasmo sono diventati leggendari e la sua opera
ha assunto caratteri di forte innovazione, come nel caso del

suo impegno a favore dei senzatetto.
La sua forza è emersa nei momenti più difficili, come quando si adoperò a favore dei familiari delle vittime del volo
TWA 800 precipitato al largo di Long Island nel 1996. Nei
giorni della tragedia dell’11 settembre 2001 Rosemarie è
stata straordinaria. Con il suo staff ha istituito un centro di
assistenza per le famiglie delle vittime dell’attacco. Questo
centro ha aiutato e dato risposte a più di 170.000 persone.

life in her neighbourhood. Her compassion and her enthusiasm were famous and her actions took aspects of great
