Pendant ce second week-end de performances, Doll vous offre du désir et une
vision de la fin du monde. Un thème shakespearien revisité par une femme en 2010
et le songe de cette soirée de printemps prend une allure méditerranéenne. Puis,
deux ans avant 2012, celui qui clame : « queer is at the very heart of England and
Englishness », propose une réflexion sur l’angoisse que génère la notion de fin…
Eirini Kartsaki, artiste grecque basée à Londres, explore la notion de désir au fil de ses
performances. En utilisant le corps, l’érotisme et spécifiquement la répétition, elle révèle
notre désir de désirer. Elle compose des histoires, mélange de fiction et d’autobiographie
qu’elle associe à une imagerie brute, ce qui lui permet d’évoquer la nature énigmatique du
désir et la solitude qu’il engendre.
Avec At dusk, I’m yours, elle propose
de vous conter l’histoire d’un âne qui
tombe amoureux.

propose une pièce au sujet d’un âne
et des choses que l’on n’a pas
besoin de dire.
Elle vous propose un chant sur la
solitude, les animaux et l’amour.
Un monologue lorsqu’un plus un
n’est pas égal à un.
Un monologue lorsqu’il est temps de
se dire adieu.
Une histoire lorsqu’un plus un est
égal à une histoire tue.
Une histoire lorsque votre vagin fait
mal, votre cul fait mal et que votre
orifice est en grève dans son
intégralité.

Jordan McKenzie s’interroge sur le climat d’anxiété dans lequel nous vivons en ce
moment et les stratégies mises en œuvre pour y faire face. L’interpénétration, si ce n’est
l’effacement, des distinctions entre social/individuel, privé/public, « réel »/virtuel,
sincérité/hypocrisie, information/désinformation nous submerge. L’ennemi semble être à la
fois partout et nulle part. Les réactions paraissent s’échelonner de l’apathie, la colère et le
cynisme à une fixation sur le plaisir ; si rien ne peut changer, concentrons-nous sur notre
propre bonheur, tournons le dos à toute forme d’engagement collectif et ayons du plaisir.
C’est pourquoi, avec The End, Jordan McKenzie vous invite à une réflexion sur la fin dans
tout ce qu’elle a de tragique, d’absurde et de glorieux. Il commencera par se promener en
fin d’après-midi dans Lausanne (détails du parcours sur www.espacedoll.ch) et
s’entretiendra avec une série d’interlocuteurs qui croiseront sa route. La fin aura lieu à 21h

Eirini Kartsaki
Eirini s’intéresse à l’expérience affective que crée une performance et le plaisir qu’elle
peut procurer; dans ses performances elle utilise la répétition comme structure et moyen
d’expression. La manière dont la répétition influence notre sens de l’expérience l’intrigue.
Elle aborde des problématiques telles que les relations humaines, le souvenir des
relations sexuelles et le malaise d’être aimé.
Eirini a performé en Grande-Bretagne (291 Gallery, Whitechapel Gallery, The Place, The
Rag Factory, etc) et ailleurs en Europe (Biennale d'Art Contemporain de Lyon, Man-inFest Festival, Cluj-Napoca, Romania). Sa dernière performance Cock tales and ballads a
été présentée à East End Collaborations, CPT and Arnolfini. Elle est actuellement en train
de terminer son projet de thèse à Queen Mary University of London où elle enseigne
également.
