An eruption of joy as “Les Bleus” finally booked their ticket to Brazil. The French had what appeared to
be an impossible task: to beat Ukraine by at least three goals after the poor performance last weekend.
And when victory finally happened on home soil, fans celebrated with the national anthem.
We started to believe in it at half-time after two goals: 2 nil. We were hoping the Ukrainians wouldn’t
score a goal. Then we succeeded in getting a third. Frankly, it’s quite nice!
France’s win was sealed when Ukraine scored an own goal. It was disappointing for Ukraine supporters.
The French played really well. I think the Ukrainians also played really well. Sadly, there were only ten
(players) at the end and could not show what they were capable of.
Celebrations too on the Champs Elysées in central Paris. French and Algerian flags were everywhere as
Algeria also qualified for the World Cup.
I’m happy for the qualifications of the two countries, France and Algeria. We made it!
Football fans now eagerly wait for a chance at glory in Brazil next year. They were hoping to celebrate
long into the night, but just after midnight French police cut the party short and started clearing the
crowd.
