Curriculum Vitae – Evangeline Markou Evangeline Markou has been teaching the course of Ancient Greek and Byzantine History in the Open University of Cyprus since 2008 and she has been coordinating the same course since 2009. She is also a researcher at KERA/NHRF as a member of the Hellenic East Programme. E.M. studied History and Archaeology at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and obtained her M.Phil and Ph.D. from the University Sorbonne -­‐ Paris IV with a postgraduate fellowship from the A.G. Leventis Foundation. She received her Ph.D. in History and Civilisation of the Antiquity in 2006 on a PhD thesis entitled “Problèmes monétaires chypriotes à l’époque classique: les monnaies d’or”. She worked at the Fitzwilliam Museum of Cambridge (2004-­‐2005) and at the Numismatic Museum of Athens (2005-­‐2007) as responsible for the documentation and digitalization of numismatic collections and she taught Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses on Ancient Numismatics in the University of Cyprus as an Adjunct Lecturer (2008-­‐2009). Research Interests Ancient History; ancient numismatics; numismatics and inscriptions of Cyprus from the Archaic and Classical periods; the economic policies of the kings of Cyprus; influences between Cyprus and the East.
