DEEP
During the late seventies, a fourteen-year old girl painfully
undergoes the transformation from childhood to maturity.

After her parents’ divorce, Heleen and her younger brother Emile
experience their first summer vacation alone with their father, in
France. Heleen enjoys the conversations with her father, but at the
same time she struggles with her sense of loyalty towards her
mother. She cannot understand what went wrong between her
parents. In the meantime she is also struggling with her own
feelings towards the French boy Bernard, and an unattainable
English boy named Steve. And then the intense and persistent
Axel comes onto the scene. After she finally agrees to have sex
with him, she begins to cater to each of his outrageous desires.
Disappointed at the actual act of sex, but happy she’s no longer
virgin, Heleen emerges a stronger woman.

It’s thirty years since Holland produced a true horror film.
DOODEIND will be a terrifying roller-coaster ride that will blow away
all competition!

néerlandais. DOODEIND sera un film terrifiant, qui mettra les nerfs

Seven friends return to Scotland to hike in the mountains where
they are attacked by large dogs. One of the friends is badly hurt
and so they flee to an old abandoned house deep within the
woods. They soon discover that the house is cursed - and once
you have entered you can’t get out. A room transforms into
another room, doors become lethal weapons, and one by one the
friends are killed. The last survivors discover that the only way to
get out is to discover the reason for the curse. And so they must
undertake a terrifying journey to the dark centre of the house
where they are forced to confront their own destiny!
DOODEIND is a new feature horror picture from the Bridge
Entertainment Group.

montagne et y sont attaqués par des molosses. L’un d’eux est
gravement blessé, de sorte qu’ils s’enfuient dans une vieille

ensorcellement. Ils doivent donc entreprendre un voyage terrifiant
jusqu’au cœur ténébreux de la maison où il leur faut affronter leur
propre destin !

GANGSTA BLUES
A hip-hop love story about a kid from Surinam who ends up in
prison, only to be saved by the girl of his dreams.
Une histoire d’amour hip hop sur un adolescent surinamien qui se
retrouve en prison mais sera sauvé par la fille de ses rêves.
GANGSTA BLUES is about Spike, a 17-year old boy from Surinam. At
the age of five he was adopted by his aunt and brought to The
Netherlands. Because he could never assimilate into Dutch
society, nor its school system, he fell into criminal ways. After
becoming a drugs smuggler he travels from Surinam to The
Netherlands with a stomach full of condoms packed with cocaine.
He gets caught and is imprisoned, but is rescued by the Dutch girl
of his dreams. GANGSTA BLUES is a R and B hip-hop film. Unlike the
conventional musical, GANGSTA BLUES will be an unpolished and
raw musical film shot on location in the suburbs of Amsterdam,
and can be best described as WEST SIDE STORY meets 8 MILE.
GANGSTA BLUES raconte l’histoire de Spike, un adolescent de 17
ans qui vient du Surinam. À cinq ans, il a été recueilli par sa tante
qui l’a emmené aux Pays-Bas. Il n’a jamais pu s’assimiler dans la
société néerlandaise ni dans son système scolaire et a donc
sombré dans la délinquance. Il est devenu passeur de drogue et
revient du Surinam l’estomac bourré de préservatifs remplis de
cocaïne. Il se fait prendre et atterrit en prison, mais il est sauvé par
la jeune néerlandaise de ses rêves. GANGSTA BLUES est un film hip
hop R&B. À la différence des comédies musicales classiques,
GANGSTA BLUES sera un film cru et brut, tourné en extérieurs dans
les banlieues d’Amsterdam, et sa description la plus adéquate
serait WEST SIDE STORY rencontre 8 MILE.

THE HORROR BUS
An innocent ghost story about a school trip becomes
terrifyingly real…
Une innocente histoire de fantômes au sujet d’un voyage scolaire
se transforme en réalité terrifiante…
Eleven-year old Onnoval is an outsider at school. Even his parents
ignore him, leaving him alone to do his own thing - write ghost
stories and romantic poetry. One night Onnoval sees his girlfriend
Liselore kissing his classmate Gino. He thinks their relationship is
over and writes ‘The Horror Bus’, a terrifying story about a school
trip that turns into a nightmare. But the vicious Ferluci steals
Onnoval’s story, determined to turn it into reality. Meanwhile, after
Onnoval finds out that Liselore kissed Gino because she was
being blackmailed, he deeply regrets what he has done. So to
save the school trip from disaster, the only option left for Onnoval
is to retrieve his handwritten story back from Ferluci, and to write
a happy ending. Will he be able to save his classmates in time?
Onnoval, un élève âgé de onze ans, n’a pas de camarades à
l’école. Ses parents eux-mêmes l’ignorent et le laissent faire ce
qui lui plaît : écrire des histoires de fantômes et des poèmes
romantiques. Un soir, Onnoval voit sa petite amie Liselore
embrasser son camarade de classe Gino. Il pense que tout est fini
entre eux et écrit « The Horror Bus », une histoire terrifiante sur un
voyage scolaire qui tourne au cauchemar. Mais le méchant Ferluci
vole son histoire, bien décidé à la transformer en réalité. Entretemps, après qu’Onnoval a découvert que Liselore a embrassé
Gino uniquement parce qu’il la faisait chanter, il regrette
profondément ce qu’il a fait. Alors, pour que le voyage scolaire ne
soit pas tragique, la seule solution pour Onnoval est de récupérer
son manuscrit dérobé par Ferluci et de le réécrire pour que
l’histoire finisse bien. Parviendra-t-il à sauver à temps ses
camarades de classe ?

When a teenager goes in search of his father, he finds a lot more.
The three most important things in Jordi’s life are Magic The
Gathering (not just a card game, but a passion), the internet and
Tess, who rides a motorbike. Jordi is seventeen and the news that
his father is alive has turned his world upside down. So he gathers
up his cards and his laptop and sets off for England with Tess,
leaving everything behind. For Jordi, life turns out to be more
fascinating than any game, more a journey of self-discovery. For
he isn’t who he thought he was. And he’s not alone in having
problems. He needs Tess, but not right now. And riddles, he soon
learns, can only get more complex. And he comes to know of
Ireland’s existence - the land that protects. At least for now…
A new life. New cards, new risks and new possibilities…
Les trois choses les plus importantes dans la vie de Jordi sont
Magic The Gathering (pas juste un jeu de cartes, mais une
passion), Internet et Tess, qui roule en moto. Jordi a dix-sept ans
et la nouvelle que son père est en vie a bouleversé son univers.
Alors, il ramasse ses cartes et son ordinateur portable, et se met
en route pour l’Angleterre avec Tess, laissant tout derrière lui. Pour
Jordi, la vie s’avère plus fascinante que n’importe quel jeu ; c’est
plutôt une découverte de soi. Car il n’est pas celui qu’il croyait
être. Et il n’est pas le seul à avoir des problèmes. Il a besoin de
Tess, mais pas à l’instant présent. Et il apprend que les énigmes
ne peuvent que devenir plus complexes. Il finit par connaître
l’existence de l’Irlande – le pays qui protège. Du moins, pour le
moment…

When a young taxi driver tries to live his dream, he ends up losing
everything he loves.

For free-spirited Dennis only the rules of the street apply and the
only people for whom he cares are his family, especially his
brother Marco. When Dennis gets the chance to buy a really
expensive taxi, he jumps at it, taking out a loan under the watchful
eye of MOTAX, the only licensed taxi firm in Amsterdam. He is
ecstatic. His days of wheeling and dealing are over. But he soon
discovers that the law is about to be changed, allowing
competition from other drivers, rendering his permit worthless.
Now there is war on the streets and he finds himself engaged
within an increasingly futile war against the corrupt MOTAX, a war
in which his brother Marco ends up dead. Full of hate, Dennis is
left with only one option. He must confront the man who wields
the organisation’s power...
Pour l’anticonformiste Dennis, les seules lois à respecter sont
celles de la rue et les seules personnes qui l’intéressent sont sa
famille, surtout son frère Marco. Lorsque Dennis à l’occasion

est fini. Mais il découvre vite que la loi va être modifiée et que la

licence ne vaut plus rien. Maintenant, c’est la guerre des rues et il
se retrouve impliqué dans un combat de plus en plus vain contre
l’entreprise corrompue MOTAX, un combat où son frère Marco
finira par trouver la mort. Rempli de haine, Dennis n’a plus qu’une
seule option. Il doit affronter l’homme qui exerce le pouvoir de

Two years after the death of his wife and daughter Lucien is forced
to take care of his son and fight for what he still has left.

obligé de s’occuper de son fils et il se bat pour ce qui lui reste.
A film about a summer in Amsterdam. About Lucien, the manager
of a boxing school who lives for the youngsters in his care. About
grief, isolation and the need to engage with what you have and
hold dearest. But when Lucien’s son, Mitchel, turns his back on
him he falls apart and is on the verge of losing everything. Only
when Lucien allows himself to grieve the tragic death of his
daughter and wife, is he able to get on with his own life.

école de boxe qui vit pour les jeunes qui lui sont confiés. Sur le
chagrin, l’isolement et le besoin de s’investir dans ce qu’on

A tender and swinging movie about the soul of the Caribbean pan music.

THE PANMAN RHYTHM OF THE PALMS tells the story of the rise and fall
of the steel drum pan player Harry Daniel. Harry is an icon of the
Caribbean whose personal life suffers when he places his music
above his family. For he is desperate to pass the pan culture to a
younger generation. During this crusade to keep the music alive
on his beloved island of St Martin he meets the exceptionally
talented Jacko who becomes his star apprentice and hope for the
future. Harry treats him like the son he never had. However when
Harry’s fame begins to diminish, Jacko turns against him and

THE PANMAN RHYTHM OF THE PALMS raconte la grandeur et la
décadence du panniste Harry Daniel. Harry est une figure
emblématique des Caraïbes, dont la vie privée souffre lorsqu’il
place sa musique avant sa famille. En effet, il est prêt à tout pour
transmettre la culture du pan à la jeune génération. Pendant sa
croisade pour la survivance de cette musique à St Martin, son île
adorée, il rencontre Jacko, doué d’un talent extraordinaire, qui
devient son apprenti prodige et son espoir d’avenir. Harry le traite
comme le fils qu’il n’a jamais eu. Pourtant, quand la célébrité
d’Harry faiblit, Jacko se tourne contre lui et, au lieu de cette
musique, il adopte l’univers du rock. Mais, lorsqu’Harry meurt
subitement, Jacko revient à la culture de son île pour devenir la

to do with his life. So he secretly takes a lowly job, washing up in
The Blue Vulture restaurant. Here he runs into Agnes, the owner’s
niece. They discover that they have more in common than they
thought, and surrounded by dirty pans, greasy schnitzels and a
bunch of hilarious characters, they start a secret relationship. A
comedy between two cultures. Will Nordip and Agnes give into
social pressure and split or will they remain happy ever after?
SCHNITZEL PARADISE est une comédie désopilante sur Nordip
Doenia, qui vient de réussir le bac haut la main. Son père est très
fier et voudrait qu’il fasse médecine, mais ce n’est pas ce que
désire Nordip. Le monde a beau être à ses pieds, il n’a pas la
moindre idée de ce qu’il veut devenir. Il choisit donc le modeste
emploi de plongeur dans le restaurant The Blue Vulture. Il y
rencontre Agnes, la nièce du patron. Ils découvrent qu’ils ont
davantage en commun que leurs pensées et, au milieu de

After SIMON (2004), SEXTET: DUTCH BEDTIME STORIES is the second
part of Eddy Terstall’s trilogy chronicling contemporary Dutch
society. One of the six short stories is about a lesbian couple
trying to be discriminated against, in the same way as they are
discriminating against their Moroccan neighbours. Another is
about a beautiful girl doing her best to be rejected on a date,
acting as wretchedly as she possibly can. A third is about a
famous Dutch writer who has a nightly adventure with a young
Dutch woman - or is she just a groupie?
These stories form a film in which the actors and locations serve
as constant and fixed elements. But at the same time each story
is independent and marked by its own style. And it is all set in
Amsterdam.

Après SIMON (2004), SEXTET: DUTCH BEDTIME STORIES est le
deuxième volet de la trilogie d’Eddy Terstall qui forme une
chronique de la société néerlandaise contemporaine. Une des six
nouvelles raconte l’histoire d’un couple de lesbiennes qui essaient
d’être frappées d’ostracisme de la même façon qu’elles
discriminent leurs voisins marocains. Une autre parle d’une fille
superbe qui fait de son mieux pour être rejetée lors d’un rendezvous pendant lequel elle se comporte aussi mal que possible. La
troisième porte sur un écrivain néerlandais célèbre qui a une
aventure nocturne avec une jeune Néerlandaise – où s’agit-il en
réalité d’une groupie ?
Ces récits constituent un film dans lequel les acteurs et les décors
servent d’éléments immuables. En même temps, chaque histoire
est indépendante et sera caractérisée par son style spécifique. Et
le film tout entier est situé à Amsterdam.
Un petit film très sexy.

SONG FROM THE OTHER SIDE
A fatal confrontation between a modern cosmopolitan man and a
rural village that has survived the turn of many centuries.

In a remote part of the Netherlands, crimes of the past have
disappeared into the moors. Only ballads of these murders
remain. Researcher Victor Dreisen is captured by one of them.
Dreisen’s love for an extraordinary woman’s voice - a voice from a
different place, from a different age - is the shaky bridge that
connects him to his new habitat. For him the beauty of the voice
is more important than the grimness of the lyrics. So he stays in
the province, an exercise in survival that makes him stronger. He
follows his heart and takes the plunge into an uncertain past, and
rejects all notions of returning to the city. For the first time in his
life Victor, who has always lived a life of luxury and spoils, is
actually absorbed by something. But this has fatal consequences
for there proves to be no defence against the voice from the past.
Dans une région reculée des Pays-Bas, les crimes du passé ont
disparu dans la lande. Il ne reste plus que les ballades chantant
ces meurtres. Le chercheur Victor Dreisen a été fasciné par l’une
d’elles. La passion qu’éprouve Dreisen pour une splendide voix
de femme – une voix venue d’un autre lieu et d’un autre temps –
forme la passerelle branlante qui le relie à son nouveau lieu de
résidence. La beauté de cette voix compte plus pour lui que les
paroles macabres. Il reste donc dans la province, un exercice de
survie qui le rend plus fort. Il obéit à la voix de son cœur et plonge
dans un passé trouble, rejetant toute idée de retour à la ville. Pour
la première fois de sa vie, Victor, lui qui a toujours vécu dans le
luxe et dans l’opulence, est vraiment captivé par quelque chose.
Cependant, cela aura des conséquences funestes car il s’avère
qu’il n’y a pas de protection contre la voix du passé.

After witnessing his mother´s death-struggle, best-selling author
Giph goes back to his life of partying, but soon finds out that he is
a changed man.

While partying in La Palma with his friends and beautiful girlfriend
Samarinde, the thoughts of young author Giph return to his
mother Lotti on her sickbed, just before her death. Giph has
doubts about his relationship with Samarinde. He missed her
support when he most needed it, during his mother’s long and
painful struggle. In addition, he suspects Samarinde of having
been unfaithful to him. So when she tells him that she is pregnant,
the timing seems singularly inappropriate. Giph must come to
terms with his mother’s death, and discover that there is more to
life than partying, before he can resolve his problems with
Samarinde.
Tandis qu’il fait la fête avec ses amis et sa superbe petite amie
Samarinde à La Palma, le jeune écrivain Giph retourne en pensée
auprès du lit de sa mère Lotti, juste avant son décès. Giph a des
doutes au sujet de sa liaison avec Samarinde. Son soutien lui a
manqué lorsqu’il en avait le plus besoin, pendant la longue et
douloureuse agonie de sa mère. De plus, il soupçonne Samarinde
de lui avoir été infidèle. Alors, lorsqu’elle lui annonce qu’elle est
enceinte, le moment lui semble des plus inopportun. Giph doit
accepter la mort de sa mère et découvre que la vie ne consiste
pas uniquement à faire la fête, avant qu’il puisse résoudre ses
problèmes avec Samarinde.

Bas wants his mother to be happy, so he decides to find her a new
man. Little does he know that at the same time she is trying to find
a new father for her son!

elle essaie de lui trouver un nouveau père !
Rosalie and her son Bas, a sensitive nine-year old boy (nearly
ten!), share a close bond. She works in a call-centre. He is an
outsider at school. But one thing is lacking from their lives, a father
for Bas and a lover for Rosalie. So Bas takes matters into his own
hands and decides to find her a man. He advertises in the
supermarket and arranges secret test dates with prospective
boyfriends. But when Rosalie finds out what he is up to, she
interprets it as a sign of his her son’s sadness. So she starts,
equally secretively, to look for a father for her son. Then her boss
starts to make advances…
Rosalie et son fils Bas, un petit garçon sensible de neuf ans
(presque dix !) sont très proches. Elle travaille dans un centre
d’appels et, à l’école, Bas reste à l’écart de ses camarades. La
seule chose qui manque dans leur vie, c’est un père pour Bas et
un amant pour Rosalie. Bas prend donc les choses en main et
décide de lui trouver un partenaire. Il place une petite annonce
dans le supermarché et organise des rendez-vous d’essai secrets
avec des petits amis éventuels. Mais, lorsque Rosalie découvre ce
qu’il manigance, elle y voit un signe de la tristesse de son fils. Du
coup, elle se met à la recherche d’un père pour son fils, tout aussi
secrètement. C’est alors que son patron commence à lui faire des
avances…

Herman Brood was a living phenomenon, the only real Dutch rock
‘n’ roll star, who also died a hero’s death...
This is not intended to be an exhaustive biographical film about
the life of Herman Brood. The last twenty years of his life are still
fresh in the memory because Herman sought all the publicity he
could. We are interested in the music, so this is the first Dutch rock
‘n’ roll film, filled with the musical energy of Herman Brood and his
band Wild Romance.
In WILD ROMANCE we use plenty of music and humour to describe
the tumultuous events that happened between the start of his
career in Winschoten, a small village in the north of The
Netherlands and via Amsterdam to the USA. A dream that came
through. The success, the sex, drugs and rock ‘n’ roll life, and
above all Herman’s relationship with his manager Koos van Dijk,
two very different characters who shared a love of pure rock
music.
Le film ne prétend pas être une biographie complète d’Herman
Brood. Les vingt dernières années de sa vie sont encore
présentes à la mémoire car Herman avait un appétit insatiable de
publicité. Nous sommes intéressés par la musique, et c’est donc
le premier film de rock néerlandais, débordant de l’énergie
musicale d’Herman Brood et de son groupe Wild Romance.
Dans WILD ROMANCE, nous utilisons beaucoup de musique et
d’humour pour décrire les péripéties tumultueuses survenues
depuis le début de la carrière d’Herman Brood à Windschoten, un
village du nord des Pays-Bas, jusqu’aux États-Unis, en passant
par Amsterdam. Un rêve qui s’est réalisé. Le succès, le sexe, les
drogues et la vie du rockeur, et surtout, les rapports d’Herman
avec son manager Koos van Dijk, deux personnages très

To find a missing herd of elephants, eight young rangers must
explore the limits of their courage.
Pour retrouver un troupeau d’éléphants, huit jeunes soigneurs
d’animaux doivent explorer les limites de leur courage.
Eight rangers travel to India to discover that a herd of elephants is
being kept at a secret jungle location, guarded by a band of highly
poisonous snakes. Four rangers remain in the jungle, while the
others travel to Mumbai. One of them hopes to develop an
antidote to snake poison, and needs one last, vital ingredient - the
venom of the extremely rare white king cobra, the favourite pet of
Bollywood star Thakur. The youngsters eventually discover that it
is Thakur who has hidden the elephants, and that he plans to
profit from their precious ivory. After they defeat him and rejoin
their friends, they are at last ready to face their greatest danger
yet, the deadly snakes. Now immune to the poison, the rangers
courageously save the herd and set them free into the wild.
Huit soigneurs d’animaux partent en Inde pour découvrir qu’un
troupeau d’éléphants est gardé prisonnier dans un endroit secret
de la jungle, sous la surveillance d’un groupe de serpents très
venimeux. Quatre soigneurs restent dans la jungle tandis que les
autres se rendent à Mumbai. L’un d’eux espère fabriquer un
antidote contre le venin des serpents et il a besoin d’un dernier
ingrédient vital – le venin d’un cobra royal blanc extrêmement rare,
l’animal domestique préféré de la star de Bollywood Thakur. Les
jeunes finissent par découvrir que c’est Thakur qui a caché les
éléphants et qu’il a l’intention de tirer profit de leur précieux ivoire.
Une fois qu’ils l’ont vaincu, ils rejoignent leurs amis et ils sont enfin
prêts à affronter leur plus grand danger jusqu’ici, les serpents
mortels. Maintenant qu’ils sont immunisés contre le poison, ils
sauvent courageusement le troupeau et le libèrent dans la nature.

Après qu’une résistante de la Seconde Guerre mondiale a été
faussement accusée de trahison, elle est bien décidée à retrouver
le véritable traître.
After a World War II resistance fighter is falsely accused of
treachery, she is determined to track down the real traitor.
Against the odds, beautiful revue star Rachel Steinn escapes Nazi
Germany and finds refuge with the Dutch Resistance who provide
her with a new identity. She meets a German officer whom she
exploits ruthlessly, and through him discovers the identity of the
man responsible for the massacre of her former Jewish refugee
group, of which her parents and brother were also part. That man
was Van Gein. Now she has every reason to play the lethal game
of espionage. She is determined to expose this traitor, who is
currently negotiating a new transportation of Jews out of
Germany. However, her plans go very wrong, and it is she who is
accused of betrayal both by the Resistance and the Germans.
After Holland is liberated in May 1945, Rachel reveals the real
traitor and takes her revenge. But can her revenge really be so
sweet?
Contre toute attente, la belle meneuse de revue Rachel Steinn fuit
l’Allemagne nazie et trouve refuge auprès de la Résistance
néerlandaise qui lui procure des faux papiers. Elle rencontre un
officier allemand qu’elle exploite impitoyablement. Grâce à lui, elle
découvre l’identité du responsable du massacre de l’ancien
groupe de réfugiés juifs dont elle faisait partie avec ses parents et
son frère. C’était Van Gein. Elle a maintenant toutes les raisons
pour jouer le rôle fatal d’espionne. Elle est résolue à démasquer
ce traître qui est en train de négocier un nouveau transport de
Juifs hors d’Allemagne. Pourtant, son plan tourne à la catastrophe, et elle se retrouve elle-même accusée de trahison, par la
Résistance comme par les Allemands. Après la libération des
Pays-Bas en mai 1945, Rachel révèle l’identité du véritable traître
et se venge. Cependant, sa vengeance pourra-t-elle être aussi
douce qu’elle ne l’imaginait ?

Fifteen-year old Dolf Vega embarks upon the adventure of a
lifetime when he uses a time machine to go back to the MiddleAges. After being attacked and wounded by cutthroats, he is
saved by the feisty and beautiful Jenne who is taking part in a Holy
Crusade of ten thousand children aiming to reach Jerusalem. Dolf
joins Jenne and helps his new companions conquer terrible
mountain ranges, overcome infectious diseases and fight off
robber knights. Eventually Dolf realizes that the real enemy of the
crusade is it own charismatic leader, Father Anselmus, a man who
is using the children for his own terrifying ends.
Dolf Vega, âgé de quinze ans, s’embarque dans la plus grande
aventure de sa vie lorsqu’il utilise une machine à remonter le
temps pour retourner au Moyen Âge. Il est attaqué et blessé par
des brigands, mais il est sauvé par la belle et fougueuse Jenne.
Elle participe à la Guerre Sainte de dix mille enfants qui partent en
croisade à destination de Jérusalem. Dolf se joint à Jenne et il aide
ses nouveaux compagnons à conquérir de terrifiantes chaînes de
montagnes, à surmonter des maladies infectieuses et à repousser

As the only female inspector on the Sofia Police Force, Alexandra

personal problems.
Plamen Goranov is suspected of killing his brother. There is no
direct evidence against him, so to nail him Alexandra must extract
a full confession. Within three weeks. If after this time Plamen
remains silent, he will walk away a free man. Alexandra digs deep
into Plamen’s history and unearths an ancient tragedy, full of
jealousy, despair, fury and blindness. And then she assesses her
own chaotic life. How can she get the truth out of Plamen if she
cannot be true to herself?

An extravagant costume drama about Rembrandt, his women and
a murder most foul.

In 1642 Rembrandt is commissioned to paint The Nightwatch, a
group portrait that casts Amsterdam’s most powerful merchants
as soldiers of the guard. But the Dutch painter discovers that his
subjects are involved within a treacherous and murderous
conspiracy, and therefore creates a masterwork that accuses the
conspirators, indicts them as murderers and castigates their
accomplices. All is not golden within the Dutch Golden Age.
Recoiling from this damning accusation, the merchants resolve to
stop at nothing in plotting the downfall of the great painter. The
Nightwatch is the bold and courageous painting that unmasked
the foulest treachery, and established Rembrandt as a masterpainter of the Western World. But is also the work that brought
about his social and financial ruin.
En 1642, Rembrandt reçoit une commande pour peindre La
Ronde de Nuit, un portrait de groupe qui représente les
marchands les plus puissants d’Amsterdam en soldats de la

An English paratrooper awakens in a field. The sky is showing signs
of an airbattle. In search of his friends, the soldier walks through a
village. Suddenly, German soldiers appear. On the run from these
soldiers, he is rescued by a young lady. In her house he makes a
major discovery. It seems he knows her better than he thinks.

The friendship between the renowned French writer André Gide
and the Dutch writer and communist Jef Last provides a picture of
the political and cultural climate in Europe in the 1930s. During a
journey through the Soviet Union, Last is increasingly influenced
by Gide’s critical assessment of the social landscape that he
encounters, and he comes to the conclusion that there is no point
in clinging on to an ideal that demands more and more personal
sacrifice.
L’amitié entre le célèbre écrivain français André Gide et l’auteur
communiste néerlandais Jef Last reflète le climat politique et
culturel de l’Europe des années 1930. Pendant un voyage en
Union Soviétique, Last est de plus en plus influencé par le

Despite the wealth of evidence surrounding the Srebrenica
massacre of July 1995, many still attempt to deny not only its
colossal scale but even, in some cases, the fact that it happened
at all.

despite even the acceptance of responsibility by the Republika
Srpska government, attempts to deny both the crime and its
horrific scale, have not abated. BEYOND REASONABLE DOUBT will
provide victim testimony, confessions made by direct participants
within the crimes and analysis conducted by forensic experts,
alongside the constant denials, the revisionist interpretations and
the persistent attempts to minimise the scale of the crimes.
Produced by SENSE, this documentary film explores the tragedy
of Srebrenica and continues the search for justice.

Poland’s largest oil field is discovered beneath Notecka
Forest. How will this discovery affect the lives of the local
inhabitants?
Le plus grand gisement de pétrole de Pologne a été découvert
sous la forêt de Notecka. Quelle sera l’incidence de cette
découverte sur la vie des habitants de la région ?
Almost two years ago Poland’s largest oil field was discovered
beneath Notecka Forest, in the country’s poverty-stricken west.
But the very poor inhabitants of the forest don’t seem to care
much about the oil under their feet. Where does this apathetic
attitude come from? Nobody characterises the people of this
nowhere-land better than Andrej. He runs a bar in the former
German/Polish border post, and regards life in his own,
philosophical way. Through observation of him, his clientele and
other inhabitants of Notecka Forest, we start to understand their
methods of survival, while the story of the search for oil is
unravelled.
Il y a près de deux ans, on a découvert le plus grand gisement de
pétrole de Pologne sous la forêt de Notecka, dans l’ouest du
pays, une région misérable. Pourtant, les habitants très pauvres
de la forêt ne semblent pas s’intéresser beaucoup au pétrole de
leur sous-sol. D’où vient cette apathie ? Personne ne caractérise
mieux les habitants de cette région perdue qu’Andrej. Il tient un
bar dans l’ancien poste-frontière entre l’Allemagne et la Pologne
et envisage la vie d’une façon personnelle, avec philosophie. En
observant Andrej, sa clientèle et d’autres habitants de la forêt de

One man’s crusade to save the lost souls of the Golden Triangle.
Abbot Phra Khru Ba Neua Chai, known as the ‘Tiger Monk’, has
vowed to help the most marginalised of the poor, the hill tribes of
Thailand’s remote northern province, the Golden Triangle. Khru Ba
started out as a professional Thai boxer but today, transformed by
his Buddhist faith, he rescues children orphaned or abandoned,
often victims of drug addiction and trafficking. His hilltop
monastery provides a safe haven for these young tribal boys. Here
they are seen transforming slowly from shy village children to
determined and self-confident young men. This film explores the
man beneath the robes, following Khru Ba and his band of novices
throughout the course of a year, as they trek on horseback
between remote hill tribe villages on the Burmese border. The
film’s story emerges from the struggle each character goes
through to realise his self-transformation.

vœu d’aider les plus exclus de tous les pauvres, les tribus des
montagnes de la province la plus septentrionale de Thaïlande, le
Triangle d’Or. Khru Ba a commencé par pratiquer la boxe thaïlandaise
en professionnel, mais de nos jours, métamorphosé par sa foi
bouddhiste, il sauve des enfants orphelins ou abandonnés, souvent
victimes de l’abus des drogues et des trafiquants. Son monastère au
sommet d’une montagne offre un refuge à ces jeunes garçons
originaires de tribus. Ici, on est témoin de leur lente transformation :
ces enfants timides de villages deviennent des jeunes gens
déterminés et pleins d’assurance. Le film observe l’homme qui se
cache sous l’habit, en suivant Khru Ba et son groupe de novices
pendant une année entière au cours de leurs randonnées à cheval
parmi les villages isolés des tribus de montagne sur la frontière
birmane. La narration du film naît du combat intime que chaque
personnage doit se livrer pour réaliser sa métamorphose personnelle.

The final months of Constant Nieuwenhuys, one of the most
prominent Dutch avant-garde artists of the last century, who died
on 1 August 2005.
Les derniers mois de Constant Nieuwenhuys, l’un des artistes
néerlandais d’avant-garde les plus éminents du siècle dernier, qui
est mort le 1er août 2005.
The summer of 2005 saw the passing away of Constant
Nieuwenhuys, one of the most important members of the 20th
Century Dutch avant-garde. Thomas Doebele and Maarten
Schmidt filmed this exceptional artist during the last months of his
life. Born in 1920, Constant was the co-founder of the Cobra
movement (1948) and deviser of the futurist New Babylon. In the
1970s he returned to classical painting where his choice of
subjects continued to be both contemporary and politically
engaged - the Vietnam War, famine in Africa and refugees from
Kosovo. Constant puts the finishing touches to his work Le Piège
(The Trap) and reflects upon his artistic career. His memories mesh
with archive material of him as a young man. His past is brought
fleetingly back to life.
L’été 2005 a été marqué par la disparition de Constant
Nieuwenhuys, l’une des figures les plus marquantes de l’avantgarde néerlandaise du XXe siècle. Thomas Doebele et Maarten
Schmidt ont filmé cet artiste exceptionnel pendant les derniers
mois de sa vie. Né en 1920, Constant était le cofondateur du
mouvement Cobra (créé en 1948) et l’inventeur de la cité futuriste
«New Babylon ». En 1970, il revient à une pratique plus classique
de la peinture mais le choix de ses sujets reste à la fois
contemporain et engagé : la Guerre du Vietnam, la famine en
Afrique et les réfugiés du Kosovo. Constant met la dernière main
à son œuvre Le Piège et se penche sur sa carrière artistique. Ses
souvenirs se mêlent harmonieusement à des métrages d’archives
le montrant lorsqu’il était jeune. Le film fait revivre un court instant
son passé.

Three successful men whose professional careers depend on
small arms confront us with people whose lives are ruled and
ruined by small arms.

sur les armes portatives nous mettent en face de gens dont la vie
est dominée et ravagée par les armes portatives.
A Dutch special effects expert, who supplies the film industry with
weapons, considers the use of small arms a form of
entertainment. A famous American gun designer sees small arms
as a source of technical beauty and inspiration. A prominent
journalist from the UK writes about their illegal trade. Through the
eyes of these experts the viewer will discover how small arms
produced in wealthy countries are ruining the lives of a growing
number of people in developing countries.
Un spécialiste néerlandais d’effets spéciaux, qui fournit des armes
à l’industrie du cinéma, considère l’utilisation d’armes portatives
comme une forme de divertissement. Un célèbre concepteur de
pistolets américain trouve que les armes portatives sont une
source d’esthétique technique et d’inspiration. Un journaliste
britannique très en vue écrit des articles sur leur commerce illicite.
Le spectateur découvrira, par les yeux de ces experts, comment
les armes portatives fabriquées dans les pays riches ravagent la
vie d’un nombre croissant d’habitants des pays en voie de
développement.

future may allow Neapolitans to shape their own destinies.
DREAMING BY NUMBERS is an intimate portrayal of a small betting
office run by two sisters, whose regular visitors illustrate the
extent to which their faith is woven into the fabric of their lives.
Their reminiscences are set against a vibrant backdrop that
depicts the vivid streets within the surrounding city of Naples. The
result is a wonderful concoction of magic and realism.
DREAMING BY NUMBERS est le portrait intimiste d’un petit bureau de
pari tenu par deux sœurs, dont les habitués mettent en lumière à
quel point leur foi est enchevêtrée dans la trame de leur existence.
Leurs souvenirs sont présentés avec, en toile de fond, un décor
dynamique qui décrit les rues pleines de vie de la ville où le film
se déroule : Naples. Le résultat est une merveilleuse mixture de
magie et de réalisme.

modern Dutch society too. This film reveals the background to the
Dutch hip-hop culture and explains why the genre can have such

Since the beginning of time the human race has tried, with little
success, to understand the four primal elements: Earth, Water, Fire
and Air.
Depuis que le monde est monde, le genre humain a tenté, sans
grand succès, de comprendre les quatre éléments constitutifs : la
terre, l’eau, le feu et l’air.
Even though we can, at times, harness the force of the primal
elements, they can never be dominated, controlled or predicted.
And when the power of nature is unleashed, it is fascinating to see
how those who are sent to tame its extremes retain an awesome
respect for its force. In these brave men we see a spark of the
primitive urge that lies dormant within humanity. ELEMENTS is a
four-chapter documentary about the men who fight each of these
elements within the 21st century. All chapters within the
programme are inter-connected, though each remains unique.
After the huge success of DAYS UNDER, the first chapter about
Earth and its might, the completion of ELEMENTS was unavoidable.
Bien que nous puissions parfois exploiter la force des éléments
fondamentaux, ils ne peuvent jamais être maîtrisés, contrôlés ou
prévus. Et lorsque la puissance de la nature se déchaîne, il est
fascinant de voir comment ceux qui sont envoyés pour dompter

FOREVER is a film about the power and vitality of art and about a
place where beauty lives on - the Père-Lachaise cemetery in Paris.
FOREVER est un film sur la puissance et la vitalité de l’art, et sur un
lieu où la beauté survit : le cimetière du Père-Lachaise, à Paris.
Père-Lachaise, one of the world’s most famous cemeteries, is the
last resting-place for a cluster of gifted artists from many eras, and
from all corners of the world. Some, such as Piaf, Proust and
Chopin, are worshipped to this day. Others have fallen into
oblivion, or are visited only occasionally by a single admirer. In
FOREVER we see the mysterious and consoling beauty of this
unique cemetery through the eyes of the living. Many come for
their own beloved - husbands, wives, family and friends. Others
honour their chosen artist by leaving behind a personal message
or a flower. While admirers talk about the importance of art and
beauty in their lives, this final resting-place for the dead gradually
reveals itself as a point of departure for the living. Death offers
little consolation except for the melancholic beauty of a mosscovered tomb, and the beauty of music, a poem or a painting.
Le Père-Lachaise, l’un des cimetières les plus célèbres au monde,
est la dernière demeure d’un groupe d’artistes talentueux issus de
nombreuses disciplines et des quatre coins de la planète. Certain,
comme Piaf, Proust et Chopin, sont vénérés jusqu’aujourd’hui.
D’autres sont tombés dans l’oubli, ou ne reçoivent que la visite
occasionnelle d’un admirateur unique. Dans FOREVER, nous
voyons la beauté mystérieuse et consolatrice de ce cimetière
exceptionnel par les yeux des vivants. Beaucoup d’entre eux
viennent pour leurs propres êtres chers – maris, femmes, parents
et amis. D’autres honorent leur artiste d’élection en laissant un
message ou une fleur sur sa tombe. Pendant que les admirateurs
parlent de l’importance de l’art et de la beauté dans leur vie, cette
dernière demeure des morts se révèle peu à peu comme un point
de départ pour les vivants. La mort n’offre guère de consolation,
si ce n’est le charme mélancolique d’une tombe moussue et la
beauté de la musique, d’un poème ou d’un tableau.

Hedonism on one side, a search for the meaning of life on the
other - a depressing contradiction that DJ Duncan Stutterheim
must try to resolve.

contradiction déprimante que le D.J. Duncan Stutterheim doit tenter
de résoudre.
Duncan Stutterheim made a fortune from clubbing. He lives in a
beautiful house and is married to the love of his life Lisca, with
whom he has two children. His friends, and co-workers, form a
close-knit group. But success has its downside. When Duncan
became a father he had to combine his wild lifestyle with the
responsibility of looking after a family. And five years ago, his
brother and business partner died in an accident. Duncan is at a
crossroads. On the one hand he is living for kicks, exploring the
borders of what is permissible. On the other hand there is
loneliness, stifling professional responsibility, and the grief he still
feels about his brother’s death. The film follows Duncan during the
run-up to the Sensation 2005 dance event and focuses on a
generation of youngsters who want to lose themselves in dance
but, like Duncan, are searching for a middle-way between
sensuality and spirituality.
Duncan Stutterheim a gagné une fortune en fréquentant les boîtes de
nuit. Il vit dans une maison splendide et a épousé la femme de sa vie,
Lisca, avec qui il a deux enfants. Ses amis, qui sont aussi ses
collaborateurs, forment un groupe très uni. Pourtant, le succès a aussi
un aspect négatif. Lorsque Duncan est devenu père, il a dû combiner
sa vie de patachon avec la responsabilité de pourvoir à l’entretien de
sa famille. Et, il y a maintenant cinq ans, son frère et associé a trouvé
la mort dans un accident. D’un côté, il vit pour prendre son pied et il
explore les limites de ce qui est acceptable. De l’autre, il y a la
solitude, l’angoisse de ses responsabilités professionnelles et le
chagrin qu’il éprouve encore à cause de la mort de son frère. Le film
suit Duncan pendant la période qui précède le grand événement de la
danse hip-hop Sensation 2005 et se focalise sur une génération de
jeunes qui veulent s’absorber dans la danse mais qui recherchent un
moyen terme entre la sensualité et la spiritualité.

What makes a life meaningful?
Qu’est-ce qui rend la vie digne d’intérêt ?
Following heart failure at the age of 39, the cellist Tobias Prenen
entered a coma that lasted for several weeks. When he emerged
from his comatose state, he was both physically and mentally
handicapped, wheelchair-bound and no longer able to talk as a
result of brain damage. From that moment on, playing the cello
was a thing of the past. Many people around him have their
doubts that Tobias can lead a meaningful life. According to them,
he cannot be happy in this state. But he regularly says that he is
very happy. When he wakes up, his face expresses his delight in
every new day. In the film, everybody wrestles with the question of
whether the Tobias they once knew would like to have lived as the
Tobias they see now. And there are few people who will be able to
see this film without wondering what indeed makes life
meaningful?
À la suite d’un arrêt du cœur lorsqu’il avait 39 ans, le violoncelliste
Tobias Prenen est entré dans un coma qui a duré plusieurs
semaines. Lorsqu’il est sorti de son état comateux, il était à la fois
handicapé physique et mental, confiné au fauteuil roulant et
devenu incapable de parler à cause de lésions cérébrales. À partir
de ce moment, jouer du violoncelle appartenait définitivement au
passé. Beaucoup de personnes de son entourage ont des doutes
sur la possibilité qu’a Tobias d’avoir une vie digne d’intérêt. Selon
elles, il ne peut pas être heureux dans cet état. Cependant, il dit
régulièrement qu’il est très heureux. Quand il se réveille, son
visage exprime la joie que lui procure chaque journée nouvelle.
Dans le film, tout le monde est aux prises avec la question de
savoir si le Tobias qu’ils connaissaient autrefois aurait voulu vivre
dans la situation du Tobias qu’ils voient maintenant. Et il y a peu
de spectateurs qui pourront voir ce film sans se demander ce qui
rend en effet la vie digne d’intérêt.

the artist Dora Dolz.

l’artiste Dora Dolz.
A film portrait of the Spanish visual artist Dora Dolz, viewed
through the eyes of her daughter, the filmmaker Sonia Herman
Dolz. Dora Dolz’s playful, down-to-earth and accessible work and
personality appeal to people from all walks of life. She is both a
working-class hero and a diva. Coming to The Netherlands from
Spain in 1965, she exemplified the tendency of the expatriate to
develop from isolated outsider into greatly regarded insider,
having had to struggle that much more for acceptance.
For thirty years, Dora Dolz’s complex and influential artworks and
monumental ceramics have underlined her incredible contribution
to the Dutch and international art scene. Presently at the peak of
her creative powers, the purpose of this portrait is to illustrate how
an artist can treat with lightness, and great delicacy, the
formidable weight of reality.

L’œuvre et la personnalité espiègles, réalistes et accessibles de

une héroïne prolétaire et une diva. Elle a quitté l’Espagne pour
venir aux Pays-Bas en 1965, et illustre la tendance des expatriés
qui sont au départ des étrangers isolés et deviennent des initiés
très respectés, après avoir dû se donner bien plus de mal pour
parvenir à se faire accepter. Pendant trente ans, les œuvres
complexes et marquantes de Dora Dolz et ses céramiques
monumentales ont souligné son impressionnante contribution à la
scène artistique néerlandaise et internationale. Comme elle est
actuellement à l’apogée de sa puissance créatrice, l’objet de ce
portrait est de montrer comment un artiste peut manier le fardeau

A retrospective account of the careers of two dynamic and
passionate film directors.
Un coup d’œil rétrospectif sur la carrière de deux réalisateurs de
films, dynamiques et passionnés.
In 1980 tenacious journalist and interviewer Ruud den Drijver
engaged two notorious and hot blooded Dutch film directors, Paul
Verhoeven and Wim Verstappen, in a heated free-for-all debate
during which they addressed, among many topics, the art of
motion pictures and the art of oral sex. Twenty-five years on and
the debate rages once more at the Cannes Film Festival 2005. But
sadly without Wim Verstappen who died in 2004. Paul Verhoeven
has returned from a brilliant career in the States and is ready to
discuss his experiences in Hollywood and happy to opine freely
about US imperialistic right wing policies.
THAT’S IT!!! (1980-2005) is a hilarious record of two brilliant,
passionate and highly opinionated film artists.
En 1980, le journaliste et interviewer tenace Ruud den Drijver a fait
participer deux réalisateurs de cinéma néerlandais célèbres et
fougueux, Paul Verhoeven et Wim Verstappen, à une discussion
générale désordonnée et passionnée au cours de laquelle ils ont
parlé, entre autres sujets, du septième art et de l’art des rapports
bucco-génitaux. Vingt-cinq ans ont passé et le débat se déchaîne
de nouveau au Festival de Cannes 2005. Mais malheureusement
sans Wim Verstappen qui est décédé en 2004. Paul Verhoeven est
rentré aux Pays-Bas après une carrière brillante aux États-Unis, et
il est prêt à parler de ses expériences à Hollywood et heureux de
s’exprimer librement sur la politique impérialiste de la droite
américaine.
THAT’S IT!!! (1980-2005) est un document hilarant sur deux artistes
brillants, passionnés et qui ont des idées très arrêtées.

VOICES OF BAM is a contemplative film about memories, mourning
and a renewed zest for life one year after the devastating
earthquake in the Iranian city of Bam.
VOICES OF BAM est un film contemplatif sur le souvenir, le deuil et
un nouvel appétit de vivre un an après le tremblement de terre
dévastateur qui a frappé la ville iranienne de Bam.
In the city of Bam, nearly everybody lost somebody in the
devastating earthquake of December 2003 which claimed over
30,000 lives. Now, one year after the disaster, life seems to be
back to normal. But not a day goes by without survivors talking to
their perished loved ones, sharing their memories and fears. We
hear fragments of their inner voices while the camera explores
their habitats and roams through the city.
VOICES OF BAM was inspired by snapshots that were found among
the debris. These photos are the only evidence of life before the
earthquake.
Dans la ville de Bam, presque tout le monde a perdu un proche
lors du séisme dévastateur de décembre 2003, qui a fait plus de
30 000 victimes. Maintenant, un an après la catastrophe, la vie
semble avoir repris son cours normal. Mais il ne se passe pas un
jour sans que les survivants ne parlent à leurs proches qui ont
péri, pour partager avec eux leurs souvenirs et leurs angoisses.
Nous entendons des fragments de leurs voix intérieures tandis
que la caméra explore leurs maisons et erre à travers la ville.
VOICES OF BAM s’est inspiré d’instantanés retrouvés dans les
décombres. Ces photos sont le seul témoignage de la vie avant le
tremblement de terre.

THE STORY OF SIVAS
The story of a terrible fire in Sivas (Turkey) in 1993, and the struggle
of the Alevites, whose ethnic and religious identity has been
suppressed for centuries.
L’histoire d’un incendie meurtrier à Sivas (en Turquie) en 1993, et
le combat des Alévites dont l’identité ethnique et religieuse a été
réprimée pendant des siècles.
Pir Sultan Abdal was murdered 350 years ago in Sivas because he
resisted the town’s strict interpretation of Islam. These days, in
opposition to religious violence and Muslim fundamentalism,
Alevitism offers a humanist interpretation of Islam, with the
provincial capital Sivas as one of its strongholds. In order to
underline their liberal view of Islam, the organisers of the Pir Sultan
Abdal festival decided in 1993 to relocate the festival to the town
where their hero was hanged in the 16th century. Whipped up by
local imams, a crowd marched through the town that day to the
Mademak hotel where the festival-goers were staying. The hotel
was set on fire and 37 people, including 11 children and a number
of well-known Alevitic writers and musicians, were burnt to death.
Il y a 350 ans, Pir Sultan Abdal a été assassiné à Sivas parce qu’il
refusait l’interprétation stricte de l’islam dans la ville. Actuellement, contrairement à la violence religieuse et au fondamentalisme musulman, l’alévisme offre une interprétation humaniste de l’islam, et l’un de ses bastions est Sivas, la capitale de la
province. Afin de souligner leur vision libérale de l’islam, les
organisateurs du festival Pir Sultan Abdal ont décidé en 1993 de
transférer le festival dans la ville où leur héros a été pendu au XVI°
siècle. Ce jour-là, attisée par des imams locaux, la foule a traversé
la ville pour se rendre à l’hôtel Mademak où séjournaient les
festivaliers. L’hôtel a été incendié et 37 personnes, parmi
lesquelles 11 enfants et plusieurs écrivains et musiciens alévites
célèbres, ont été massacrés par le feu.

Using amateur footage dating back as far as 1910, director
Eugenie Jansen confronts our idyllic childhood memories with the
harsh consequences of our actions. In the same way people film
their children feeding the ducks to record the transience of the
sesceptible eye of a child, the short film Feeding the Ducks makes
a plea for seeing life as good and pleasant. Although we should
know better.

Erkel visits the Kuip, home of Rotterdam football club Feyenoord.
He tells how, in captivity, patterns became rituals, giving him the

THE AROMA OF TEA
A small sphere travels in a determined and rhythmical manner
through landscapes, emerging at the end into a larger sphere of
white light. Both the graphic brushstroke and the music, with its
haunting rhythms, are strikingly simple and direct. The theme of the
film is as old as time and recognisable despite its limitless variations.

HARD BOILED CHICKEN
In true hard-boiled detective style, a rooster tries to track down
the thief that stole his hen’s egg. Very soon, the finger of suspicion
is pointed at the farmer, but before the egg can be saved from
becoming hard-boiled itself, the rooster and the hen must
overcome another fierce adversary - the farmer’s cat!

A man lives in a room. He notices a light shining through a loose
brick in the wall. He removes the brick and finds a room exactly like
his own with a man just like himself, looking back in fear. They meet
through the hole but after a while they begin to fight about the brick.
One man is killed, the other man is destined to suffer the same fate.
Un homme vit dans une pièce. Il remarque que, dans le mur, une

TEARS
A man cries for the world. As his small apartment fills up with salty
tears he tries to escape from drowning. But it is no use. He cries
until there’s literally nothing left of him. The room collapses under
the pressure of the water. Outside, as far the eye can see there is
nothing but endless ocean.
Un homme pleure toutes les larmes de son corps sur le monde.
Tandis que son petit appartement se remplit de larmes, il essaie
d’échapper à la noyade. Mais, en vain. Il pleure jusqu’à ce qu’il ne
reste littéralement plus rien de lui. La pièce s’effondre sous la
pression de l’eau. À l’extérieur, on ne voit rien d’autre que l’océan

city life. He moves at his own slow and regular pace, and so it
seems impossible for him to connect with anybody. But when he
meets a little girl, it appears he is not completely alone in his
isolation from the frenetic world.

perform a spectacular animated dance that transports us to
places previously considered impossible within the confines of the
theatre.

of the film, Sita, who in turn falls in love with him. But there’s a
major problem. For publicity reasons Sita must marry the equally
popular actor Anil. And there are a lot of people with a vested
interest in seeing this happen. Eggie has to run for his life before
he and Sita make good their perilous escape to happiness.

legendary 1953 Bride Flight to New Zealand, discover that they
share more memories than they had originally thought.
1953. Three young Dutch women, Marjorie, Ada and Esther, eager
to escape the damp and suffocating atmosphere of post-war
Holland, are looking forward to a brighter life in New Zealand.
They meet onboard the aircraft taking them to meet their future
husbands. During the flight the three young women encounter
Frank, who is emigrating to New Zealand to work as a share
farmer. In the early years in their new country Marjorie, Esther and
Ada remain on good terms, but they gradually lose touch. It’s only
after fifty years, at Frank’s funeral, that they discover how much
their lives had become intertwined through their own unique
relationships with Frank. A bittersweet tale of love, hope and
expectations.
1953. Trois jeunes néerlandaises, Marjorie, Ada et Esther,
désireuses d’échapper à l’atmosphère embrumée et suffocante
de la Hollande d’après-guerre, espèrent avoir une vie plus
heureuse en Nouvelle Zélande. Elles font connaissance dans

Pendant le vol, les trois jeunes femmes rencontrent Frank, qui
émigre en Nouvelle Zélande pour y être métayer. Durant les
premières années dans leur nouveau pays, Marjorie, Ada et Esther
restent en bons termes, mais, petit à petit, elles perdent le
contact. Ce n’est qu’au bout de cinquante ans, lors de

Just try to survive.
Essayez simplement de survivre.
Deep in the dark woods of the Ardennes five friends celebrate
their WEEKEND - far away from their girlfriends, their work and
city life. But soon one of the friends contracts a mystery virus and
transforms into a wild and bloodthirsty animal. In the middle of the
night he escapes into the woods. The other four try to find help,
but their car crashes. In the dark, cold night they try to find their
way back to the cabin but they are violently attacked by their rabid
friend, accompanied by a mad dog. The group falls apart but,
somehow, one by one, they manage to escape to the sanctuary of
the cabin. They think they’re safe until they discover that another
one of them has been infected with the virus…
What is going on? Who will be next? Who will survive the
weekend?
Au fin fond de la sombre forêt des Ardennes, cinq amis fêtent leur
WEEKEND – loin de leurs petites amies, de leur travail et de
l’agitation des grandes villes. Mais bientôt, l’un des amis attrape
un virus mystérieux et se métamorphose en un animal sauvage
sanguinaire. Au milieu de la nuit, il se sauve dans la forêt. Les
quatre autres essaient de trouver de l’aide, mais leur voiture a un

ami enragé, accompagné d’un chien furieux. Le groupe se

An Afghan refugee manages to flee an Australian brothel, where
she had been put to work, and finds shelter with a solitary farmer.
Just as they seem to have found peace together, her former
employers turn up to reclaim her.

afraid of what they may see in the daylight. The woman hasn't
long to live, suffering from a fatal illness. The man knows about
this, but she doesn't know that he knows. On this subject they are
silent. We hear their thoughts through their off-screen voices, a
dialogue with many questions, but never reaching a conclusion.
Her approaching death hastens their search for answers in their
life, freeing memories from their past. Through their eyes we see
an island in the mountains, where a young woman lives alone
among the ruins of a village. Her state of isolation brings us
towards the inexplicable dimension of life and death.
Dans un appartement, les vies d’un vieux couple passent comme
un disque de longue durée, lentement, mécaniquement, comme
un rituel. Il y a bien longtemps, ils ont décidé de faire la cuisine, de
manger, de boire et de faire des mots croisés dans les ténèbres de
la nuit, car ils ont peur de ce que la lumière du jour pourrait leur
révéler. Ils voient mieux la nuit. La femme souffre d’une maladie
mortelle et n’a plus longtemps à vivre. Son mari est au courant,
mais elle ne le sait pas. Ils n’abordent pas ce sujet. Nous
entendons leurs pensées grâce à des voix-off, dans un dialogue
qui posent de nombreuses questions sans jamais n’apporter de
conclusion. Sa mort prochaine rend leur quête de réponses à leur
vie plus urgente et libère des souvenirs de leur passé. Nous
voyons par leurs yeux une île dans les montagnes, où une jeune
femme vit dans les ruines d’un village. Son isolement nous fait
affronter la dimension impénétrable de la vie et de la mort.
