work). Managed the design of Phase 2, including the interface between highway works and bridge design (separate
contract). Project included intersections, pavement, signals, drainage, lighting, noise barriers and bridges. Key
challenges included land ownership / boundary issues, consents, managing a remotely located team (UK and Middle
East), managing early contractor involvement / input into design and the projects close proximity to a major motorway.

Highway 1. Included earthworks, bridge replacement, intersections, property entrances and pavement. Role included
project management, financial tracking, liaison with landowners and client, and writing contract documents. Managed a
team to produce the final design, drawings, cost estimate, risk analysis, economic evaluation, consent applications, safety
audit and archaeological assessment.

Assisted in the geotechnical investigations, supervising drilling and logging core. Designed a reinforced earth
embankment across a gully approximately 20m high. Design was challenging as the embankment was in earthquakeprone zone and had a stream to be diverted through a culvert that was at risk of blocking during an earthquake.
