Guillaume commence la guitare à l’âge de 7 ans sous l’influence de son
père, guitariste de country. De 1996 à 2005, étudie la guitare classique et poursuit son
cursus en étudiant le jazz avec Alain Pierre à l’académie de Huy ainsi qu’à l’académie de
Amay avec Philippe Doyen.
Parallèlement, il participe à plusieurs stages aux Lundis d’Hortense (Pierre van Dormeal,
Peter Hertmans, Ivan Paduart, Paolo Radoni...).
Après avoir joué dans de nombreux groupes de pop et de rock, l’envie de se diriger vers
une musique plus improvisée se fait ressentir. Il créa le trio Morning Warm Whisky qui lui
permettra de se focalisé plus sur l’improvisation mais également sur la composition. Il
participe également à une session pour l’album électro jazz de Karl off.
En 2007, il poursuit ses études au Conservatoire Royal de Bruxelles où il a eu la chance
d’apprendre avec Arnould Massart, Pirly Zurstrassen, Fabrice Alleman, Fabien Degryse,
Guy Cabay...
En parallèle à ses études au Conservatoire de Bruxelles, il monte un premier projet «The
Green Dolphins» et participe à de nombreux projets jazz aux alentours de Bruxelles.
«The Green Dolphins» est repris par le collectif «ça balance pas mal...» et une de ses
compositions est présente sur la compile ça balance 2011.
En 2008, participe à un stage de Jazz en Italie avec notamment Kenny Baron et en 2010,
participe au concours "Tuscia In Jazz" avec le "Feel Trio" avec lequel il arrive en finale.
Guillaume participe à de nombreuses masterclass et clinic dont celui de Kurt
Rossenwinkel, Antonio Sanchez, Philip Catherine, Jonathan Kreisberg...
Guillaume a eu l’occasion de jouer dans de nombreux festivals et salles de concert dont
le Dinant Jazz Night, Le comblain Jazz Festival, FestivalInternational Jazz à Liège, Mons
en Jazz, Music Village, Jazz à Huy, Centre Culturel les Chiroux, Jazz At Home, Gaume
Jazz, Jazz 04, Festival Eben Emeal...
Guillaume est un guitariste en constante recherche, tant au niveau de la manière
dʼimproviser ou de composer. Amoureux des standards et de la tradition, il est également
très attiré par le jazz moderne. La composition fait partie intégrante de son travail quʼil
effectue pleinement avec la création de son quartet. Un projet dʼécriture pour une grosse
formation est en cours ainsi quʼun grand nombre de projets. Ses projets actuels sont
Guillaume Vierset Quintet, Guillaume Vierset Standard Trio, LG Jazz Collective...
Prix :
- 2002: Lauréat guitare classique Académie de Huy
- 2008, remporte le prix du meilleur groupe à la deuxième édition du jazz Cat Rally à
Bruxelles avec son projet «The Green Dolphins».
- 2011, Guillaume remporte le prix du meilleur soliste au concours de Comblain jazz.
- «Guillaume Vierset Quartet» se retrouve à la troisième place et obtient le prix du public
au concours jazz Xl lors du Bruxelles jazz marathon 2011.
- Prix du meilleur groupe pour sont projet «LG Jazz Collective» au Dinant Jazz Night
2012.
- Lauréat du «Sabam Jazz Award 2013» meilleur jeune talent l’évolution sa carrière dans
le milieu du jazz.

Guillaume took up the guitar at seven, influenced by his father, a country guitar player.
From 1996 to 2005, he learned to play the classical guitar and went on further by
studying jazz with Alain PIERRE at the music Academy of Huy and Philippe DOYEN at the
music Academy of Amay.
At the same time, he took part in several courses at "AU LUNDI D’HORTENSE" (Pierre
VAN DORMAEL, Peter HERTMANS, Ivan PADUART, Paolo RADONI,..).
After having played with many pop or rock bands, he felt the need to head for a more
improvised music. He created the MORNING WARM WHISKY trio that allowed him to
focalize more on improvization but also on composition. He took part in a session for the
"electro jazz album" of Karl OFF.
2007: he went on with his studies at the Royal School of Brussels where he got the
chance to learn with Arnaud MASSART, Pirly ZURSTRASSEN, Fabrice ALLEMAN, Fabien
DEGRYSE, Guy CABAY…
At the same time, he set up a first musial project: a band called THE GREEN DOLPHINS
with whose he took part in many jazz sessions in Brussels area.
THE GREEN DOLPHINS is joining the collective " CA BALANCE PAS MAL" and one of its
composition is featured on the 2011 compilation.
2008: he attended jazz courses in Italy with, among others, Keny BARON and
2010 he took part in the competition "TUSCIA IN JAZZ" with the FEEL TRIO and is through
the final.
Guillaume takes part in many masterclasses and clinics of which those of Kurt
ROSSENWINKEL, Antonio SANCHEZ, Philip CATHERINE, Jonathan KREISBERG…
He had the oportunity to play in several festivals and concert halls among which the
DINANT JAZZ NIGHT, the COMBLAIN JAZZ FESTIVAL, the INTERNATIONAL JAZZ
FESTIVAL in Liège, MONS EN JAZZ, MUSIC VILLAGE, JAZZ A HUY, house of culture LES
CHIROUX, JAZZ AT HOME, GAUME JAZZ, JAZZ 04, EBEN-EMAEL FESTIVAL…
Guillaume is continually in search, whether in the manner he improvizes or he composes.
Passionately fond of standards and tradition, he is also attracted to modern jazz.
Composition is an integral part of his work that he uses fully with the creation of his
quartet. A writing project for a big musical band has been on the way, as well as a lot of
other projects. Guillaume Vierset Quintet, Guillaume Vierset Standard Trio, LG Jazz
Collective...
Prizes:
- 2002: Prize-winner for the classical guitar (Academy of Huy)
- 2008: Prize of the best group with THE GREEN DOLPHINS (second edition of JAZZ CAT
RALLY in Brussels)
- 2011: Guillaume wins the prize of the best soloist (COMBLAIN JAZZ 2011) and the third
place for the best group with GUILLAUME VIERSET QUARTET.
- Third place and public prize for GUILLAUME VIERSET QUARTET (competition JAZZ XL
during the BRUSSELS JAZZ MARATHON 2011).
- Guillaume win the first price with his band «LG Jazz Collective» at the Dinant Jazz Night
2012.
- Winner of the «Sabam Jazz Award 2013» for a development of is career.

Guillaume Vierset (gitarist, componist, arrangeur)
Op zevenjarige leeftijd leert Guillaume, onder invloed van zijn vader, country-gitarist,
gitaar spelen.
Van 1996 tot 2005 studeert hij klassieke gitaar om zich daarna verder te verdiepen in de
jazz-muziek, met Alain Pierre aan de academie van Hoei en met Philippe Doyen aan de
academie van Amay.
Daarnaast neemt hij deel aan verschillende stages bij de “Les Lundis d’Hortense” (Pierre
van Dormael, Peter Hertmans, Ivan Paduart, Paolo Radoni…).
Na in verschillende pop- en rockgroepjes gespeeld te hebben, voelt hij zich steeds meer
aangetrokken tot een meer geïmproviseerde muziek. Hij richt het trio "Morning Warm
Whisky" op, waarmee hij zich meer verdiept in improvisatie maar ook in compositie.
Daarnaast neemt hij deel aan een sessie voor het electro-jazz album van Karl off.
In 2007 studeert hij verder aan het Koninklijk Conservatorium van Brussel, waar hij het
geluk heeft te worden begeleid door namen als Arnould Massart, Pirly Zurstrassen,
Fabrice Alleman, Fabien Degryse, Guy Cabay…
Tijdens zijn studies aan het Conservatorium in Brussel il monte en premier projet "The
Green Dolphins" en neemt deel aan talrijke jaaz-projecten in en rond Brussel. "The Green
Dolphins" wordt opgenomen in het collectief "ça balance pas mal…" en één van zijn
composities wordt voorgesteld op de compilatie ça balance 2011.
In 2008 schrijft hij zich in voor een Jazz-stage in Italië met onder meer Kenny Baron. In
2010 neemt hij deel aan het "Tuscia In Jazz - concours" met het "Feel Trio", waarmee hij
de finale bereikt.
Guillaume neemt deel aan vele masterclasses en clinics waaronder die van Kurt
Rossenwinkel, Antonio Sanchez, Philip Catherine, Jonathan Kreisberg…
Daarnaast was hij reeds te gast op verschillende festivals en in dito concertzalen : Dinant
Jazz Night, Le comblain Jazz Festival, Festival International Jazz à Liège, Mons en Jazz,
Music Village, Jazz à Huy, Centre Culturel les Chiroux, Jazz At Home, Gaume Jazz, Jazz

Guillaume is een gitarist die permanent op zoek is, zowel wat betreft de manier van
improviseren of componeren. Hij houdt van stereotiepen en traditie, maar voelt zich ook
erg aangetrokken tot de moderne jazz.
De compositie maakt noodzakelijk deel uit van zijn werk, waar hij zich met zijn kwartet ten
volle aan wijdt.
Zijn momenteel lopende projecten : Guillaume Vierset Quintet, Guillaume Vierset Standard
Trio, LG Jazz Collective...
Prijzen:
- 2002: Laureaat klassieke gitaar Academie van Hoei
- 2008 : prijs voor de beste groep op de tweede editie van de jazz Cat Rally in Brussel
met zijn project "The Green Dolphins".
- 2011 Guillaume krijgt de prijs voor beste solospeler op Comblain jazz 2011 en behaalt
de derde plaats voor beste groep met het Guillaume Vierset Quartet.
- 2012 : Prijs voor de best groep op de Dinant Jazz Nighr 2012 met zijn project «LG Jazz
Collective»
- Laureaat «Sabam Jazz Award 2013».
