PROCES-VERBAL DE LA REUNION DU CONSEIL D'ADMINISTRATION DE

1) Rapport sur la situation financiere
J. Sonolet presente les comptes de l'Association a la date du
ler Septembre 1985. Ceux~ci sont equilibres; Ie nombre des adhesions est en progres constant et Ie renouvellement d'une
annee a l'autre s'est effectue sans difficultes. Ce bilan satisfaisant se traduit cependant par une charge de travail de plus
en plus lourde. II serait souhaitable, pour assurer Ie maximum
d'efficacite, qu'une aide supplementaire so it prevue. A la demande de la Deleguee Generale, Ie Conseil d'Administration vote
Ie principe d'une subvention annuelle de 10.000 francs pour embaucher une~secretaire occasionnelle (cf. Article 5 des Statuts,
alinea 3). Le poste cree ne sera pas un emploi a plein temps
et ne sera pas affecte a l'un ou l'autre des membres de l'Association.
2) Rapport du Vice-President sur Ie Bulletin de l'Association
En presentant Ie bilan des deux premiers numeros du Bulletin,
Ie Prof. U. Boschung cons tate les difficultes rencontrees dans
Ie recensement des informations concernant l'activite des differentes institutions, membres de l'Association. II reitere
l'imperieuse necessite et Ie devoir de chacun des membres a
communiquer a la Redaction du Bulletin, l'annonce des publica-
tions, articles ou autres manifestations entreprises sous leur
autorite.
Le Prof. Boschung annonce par ailleurs qu'il a pris contact
avec plusieurs maisons d'edition afin de modifier la maquette
et la presentati~n du Bulletin. Apres avoir presente plusieurs
projets, .le.. Prof. Boschung suggere l'octroi d'une subvention
annuelle ~el5000 francs pour realiser cette modification, et
propose une parution bi-annuelle. Sur ces deux points, Ie Conseil d'Administration vote son accord a l'unanimite, et confie
au Prof. Boschung Ie soin d'en assurer la pratique effective.
3) Rapport de la Tresoriere sur l'Organisation du prochain
Congres
Juliana Wilmanns presente un avant-projet concernant Ie congres d'Ingolstadt (10-14 Septembre 1986); ce document est adopte a l'unanimite par les membres du Conseil d'Administration.
Plusieurs points ont fait l'objet ~e discussions qui sont integres au nouveau projet de reglement interieur. Par ailleurs~
Ie Conseil d'Administration adopte les resolutions suivantes:
- Les frais d'enregistrement au prochain congres sont fixes a
50 OM pour les membres de l'Association, a 30 OM pour les
personnes qui les accompagnent, a 75 OM pour les delegues ne
faisant pas partie de l'Association.
- Oans l'etat actuel, Ie Commissaire General du prochain congres espere obtenir des subventions des differentes instances de la Republique Federale d'Allemagne mais il serait
souhaitable d'envisager des a present un credit de l'ordre
de 9000 francs pour Ie transport et l'hebergement des congressistes provenant des pays de l'Est qui ne pourraient subvenir aces depenses. II est demande a la Oeleguee Generale
de s'en enquerir aupres du President d'Honneur de l'Association.
Le Conseil d'Administration donne quitus a J. Wilmanns et la
remercie pour la part active qu'elle prend a l'organisation du
prochain congres, ainsi qu'a son Commissaire General, Mme
Habrich.
4) Rapport du Vice-President sur les orientations scientifiques
Le Prof. F. Cid rappelle l'importance des objets pour l'histoire
de la medecine et insiste sur l'articulation necessaire entre
l'activite theorique et la pratique. II se propose d'elaborer
un projet qu'il soumettra ulterieurement a l'Association sur
]a Typologie des Musees de Medecine. Cette proposition est adoptee a l'unanimite.
5) Rapport du Secretaire General
N. Sainte Fare Garnot rend compte de son activite et plus particulierement de l'enregistrement des modifications statutaires
votees a l'occasion de la derniere Assemblee Generale. II propose un certain nombre de complements a ajouter au Reglement
Interieur de l'Association:
a) Le Conserl d'Administration adopte les orientations generales des congres a venir sur presentation de leur Commissaire General. Le programme precis est fixe par les organisateurs.
b) Si Ie Commissaire General n'est pas membre du Conseil d'Administration, il est invite a participer a ses travaux
pendant la duree de preparation, avec voix deliberative.
c) Les langues officielles du congres sont l'Anglais et Ie
Fran~ais. Les communications peuvent etre lues par des delegues dans l'une ou l'autre de ces langues au cas ou l'intervenant ne les pratiquerait pas. A l'inverse, les discussions qui s'engagent a la suite de chaque communication
se fon~'rrans la langue de chaque intervenant et peuvent
etre traduites, si la demande se fait sentir.
d) Les communications de la troisieme session, intitulee
"Varia" sont plus specialement reservees aux congressistes
d'une autre nationalite que Ie pays d'accueil du congres.
e) II est demande a chaque congressiste presentant une communication d'envoyer au Commissaire General un resume de son intervention avant l'ouverture du congres afin de constituer
un programme complet de ses travaux. Les communications
ecrites, notes et iconographie doivent enfin parvenir au
Commissaire General a l'ouverture du congres.

f) Les Actes du congres sont imprimes sous la responsabilite
du Commissaire General du congres.
Le Conseil d'Administration de l'Association vote a l'unanimite
cette nouvelle reglementation.

6) Adjoint du Secreta ire General
Le Preside~t.propose que Ie Secreta ire General soit assiste par
un adjoint en titre; ce point ayant fait l'objet d'un assentiment, il suggere la candidature du Dr B. Pons. Le Conseil d'Administration adopte cette initiative a l'unanimite mais attend
les modifications statutaires necessaires pour la declarer officiellement.

7) Congres 1988
G. Bock-Berti envisage l'eventualite d'une candidature italienne pour Ie congres suivant Ingoldstadt. La Lombardie et la
ville de Pavie pourraient assumer les charges et l'organisation
de ce congres en 1988, si cette proposition re~oit l'assentiment du Conseil d'Administration. Les membres presents donnent
leur accord et demandent a G. Bock-Berti d'elaborer un avantprojet a soumettre au prochain Conseil d'Administration.
8) Relations Internationales
La formation d'une Association Americaine des Musees d'Histoire
des Sciences Medicales, a l'instigation de P. Gerstner, est enregistree. Afin de nouer des relations etroites, il est prevu
de mentionner son existence sur les bulletins d'adhesion. Le
principe d'une double adhesion a tarif reduit sera etudie (la
mise en pratique de cette procedure pourrait compliquer la
Tresorerie de l'Association).

GRAND MUSEE A ATOMIQUE DU Dr SPITZNER
L'ensemble de la collection de cires anatomiques connu sous Ie
nom de collection du Dr Spitzner dont certaines pieces furent
realisees a la fin du XIXeme siecle par Baretta, Zeller, Vasseur ou Jumelin (plus de 200 pieces) revient en France. La
collection autrefois exposee a partir de 1856 a Paris, place
de la Republique devait etre vendue aux encheres a Paris Ie 10
juin 1985 (catalogue, etude Me Chayette, vente Hotel Drouot 10
juin 1985). La vente a ete annulee en raison de l'accord a
l'amiable intervenu entre Ie proprietaire beIge et l'acquisition de l'ensemble grace au mecenat de ROUSSEL - UCLAF.
La collection qui mele a la fois des pieces d'interet scientifique certain a des pieces principalement destinees a un grand
public (Musee d'Hygiene social) va etre geree par une association creee a cet effet: "Medecine et Culture".
Apres restauration la collection sera presentee a Paris au
Musee des Arts decoratifs, 107 rue de Rivoli, a partir d'avril
1986 pour trois mois. Par la suite l'exposition pourra etre demandee par les musees etrange~qui seraient interesses. Une
partie pourrait aussi etre presentee dans diverses ·facultes de
medecine a l'occasion de congres medicaux.

AMERICAN ASSOCIATION OF MEDICAL HISTORY MUSEUMS
An association of medical history museums has been formed in
the United States and Canada. This association looks forward
to close cooperation with the European Association and it is
expected that joint membership in the American and European
groups will be available in the future. The first annual

meeting of the American group will be held in Rochester, New
York in the late spring of 1986. For information on the American group, please contact the current president:

According to thc editor, Glen IV. Davidson, "Caduceus is
published for both a special and gencral readership-- those
individuals who wish to be better informed about the heritage
of healing and the status of the hcalth sciences today. The
journal is written by scholars who interpret that heritage
through the frtifacts of health sciencc museums, archives and
special library collections. It is their task to construct
the stories which can inform us all about the continuities of
today with the past and the future". Each issue will contain
one lengthly essay, a feature section devoted to descriptions
of major collections, significant events, and issues of concern to personnel in health science museums, archives and
special collections.

EXHIBITION OF WAX MODELS (MOULAGES)
On the occasion of the XXX International Congress of the
History of Medicine a great variety of exhibitions referring
to multifarious subjects are in preparation and are intended
to attract not only the participants of the Congress but the
inhabitants of Dusseldorf as well.
One subject deals with the 3-dimensional demonstration of skindiseases and their treatment by wax-models (moulages).
Diphteria, Lepra, Lues, Morbus Kaposi and Tuberculosis cutis
are amongst the selected exponates, together with one representative work each of the most important artists in history:
Jules Baretta, Fiweisky, Dr. Karl Henning, Theodor Henning,
T. Johnsen, Ch. Jumelin, Heinrich Kasten, Fritz Kolbow, Alfons
Kroner, Theodor Niehus, Elsbeth Stoiber, Otto Vogelbacher,
Luise Volger, Ruth Willi.
The exhibition of moulages will be organized by Dr. Ellen
Sundhaussen, Dusseldorf, in cooperation with Prof.Dr. G.W.
Korting, Mainz and Prof. Dr. E. Schopf, Freiburg/Br. The waxmodels are property of the Dermatological University-Clinics
of Zurich and Freiburg/Br.
